Child Care Support in Siem Reap

People and Places offers a responsible alternative for volunteers who want to work in childcare, keeping in mind the ethics of short-term volunteering in orphanage projects abroad. Each placement will be specifically designed to make good use of your skills and experience within the broader community. Volunteers with any of the following experience and interests are welcome: * Education - early childhood development, basic literacy, and numeracy * Teaching assistants to work with local teachers * Musicians - particularly guitars and drums * Artists * Sports coaches * Health professionals * Human resources practitioners to help with organization, employee, and community development * Marketing and promotion * Small business skills * Practical - DIY, construction and electrics, sustainable energies and horticulture, arts and crafts The project, which is based in Treak Community Centre near Siem Reap, has built immense respect within the local community and is designed to meet the needs of families who are on or just above the poverty line in villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap. Life in these villages still revolves around subsistence farming and fishing.
