HELP Environment Coordinator

by: Otra Cosa Network

Add first reviewSince 2004

The HELP Environment Coordinator is one of four Project Coordinator roles at OCN. You will update the environmental curriculum, lead weekly environmental education classes for children at the REC in Cerrito de la Virgen, and supervise supporting volunteers. You will also organise the monthly beach clean as part of the Yo Cuido Mi Playa campaign, and you’re encouraged to propose your own project ideas (e.g., composting or hydroponics). This hands-on role offers strong exposure to Spanish and is ideal for volunteers who speak or want to improve the language. You will work under the REC Coordinator and Program Manager. The project itself requires only a few hours per week; the rest of your time you will volunteer across other OCN projects to reach about 25 hours/week. Activities may include HELP English, HELP Youth, HELP Literacy, Global Glow, English classes in schools or the library, REC homework support, the dog shelter, playground renovation, or library inventory. This role is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to work with children and learn about the NGO world while living in Huanchaco, a small surf town near Trujillo. All roles can also be taken as internships.
