Local medical centers face resource shortages, making international interns essential for improving health access in rainforest communities while gaining valuable global health field experience.
Interns work alongside local staff, providing vital medical assistance, public health outreach, and clinical support in an immersive Amazon Rainforest setting.

How do I get to Codo Del Pozuzo, Puerto Inca, Peru?
From Lima, interns need to take either a flight or bus to the city of Pucallpa. Our personnel will meet you at the airport or bus station in Pucallpa and bring you to Codo Del Pozuzo. The ride from Pucallpa to Codo del Pozuzo takes approximately 5 hours. We recommend you arrive at 13:00 or earlier at the airport or bus station in Pucallpa.
How many hours do interns work?
Interns usually work 25 hours from Monday to Thursday. However, you could work more hours as required by your university.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are free. We usually organize different jungle trips for interns in return for their support.
Are vaccines necessary?
Fortunately, we haven’t seen or heard any case of yellow fever or malaria since we started this project in 2018. However, we have seen a couple of dengue fever cases. Fortunately, the local health center is prepared to treat this illness. If interns have access to the dengue fever vaccine, we recommend they have it. None of our volunteers/interns in all these years have this vaccine as it is difficult to find.
Are there hospitals and pharmacies in Codo Del Pozuzo, Puerto Inca?
Codo del Pozuzo has one health center where interns can visit to have minor injuries or illnesses treated. It has an ambulance to transport people during emergency cases. Codo del Pozuzo has around 5 pharmacies.
Hospitals and clinics are available in Oxapampa or Pucallpa (5 hours away by car from Codo del Pozuzo).
Are there places to buy food in Codo Del Pozuzo, Puerto Inca?
Yes, there are a bunch of restaurants, groceries, and minimarkets.
