We are a nonprofit organization working for the economic and social development of different communities in the Peruvian Amazon. We focus on education, environment, ecotourism, health and cultural exchange. The big problem for the Amazon Rainforest in this area in Peru is that people are polluting too much. One of the main reasons is because they do not have enough opportunities. Most of the people are farmers and their income is very low. The lack of opportunities is forcing local people to do illegal activities such as illegal gold mining and polluting the rivers with strong chemicals. They are also doing illegal logging. Nice authentic teaching experience

And Hans and Dora are so kind and helpful. They brought us on trips, and to a big local birthday party! We do think that speaking some beginner Spanish is a good idea to communicate with both the kids and Hans and Dora. We definitely recommend doing this Workaway to get an authentic experience of Peru!

Everybody involved in the program is very kind and helpful however it is managed remotely and I think the programme would benefit a lot by having more management involved on site as support to volunteers. Teaching was challenging but fun, definitely try to incorporate games into lessons!! Hans would take us on weekend activities to see waterfalls, camping, fishing, make chocolate, visit an indigenous tribe etc. and him and his family really make the entire opportunity amazing!!
