Rhino Walking Safari in Namibia

The landscape here is vast and striking, with rugged hills, dry riverbeds, and sweeping desert plains. Once nearly extinct in this region, the Black Rhinoceros has made a remarkable recovery. Today, northwest Namibia is home to the world’s largest population of free-roaming Black Rhinos, living not within national parks but on communal lands governed by traditional authority.

Namibia’s community-based conservation model plays a central role in this success. Residents are employed as wildlife monitors and anti-poaching patrols, while responsible tourism provides vital income. This approach has cultivated strong community ownership of conservation efforts—so much so that environmental protection is written into Namibia’s constitution.
