Nico made our trip to Peru a lot better!
January 23, 2026by: Ally Parsons - United StatesMonica's: Excellent host! Sweetest woman, genuinely cared for our well being, our time in Cusco. Food tasted great. Niko: Great projects manager! Nico made our trip to Peru a lot better with his recommendations and overall help adjusting. He made ahrd days @ the clinic feel light, helped bridge the language barrier - even though we didn't need it.
Great time with Maximo Nivel & Medical Campaign
January 23, 2026by: Natalie Lehner - United StatesMonica was amazing! She was super welcoming, made good food, and even gave us salsa lessons. Making the experience more enjoyable: More instruction on the first day of clinic. Nico & Maximo Nivel were perfect - they were super helpful with all questions & needs we had. They were especially helpful when our coordinator didn’t know anything or communicate fully. Highly Recommend to others!
Nico & Maximo Nivel did a great job organizing the medical campaign
January 23, 2026by: Hannah Barbee - United StatesI absolutely loved this experience and all of the Maximo staff was so supportive and did a good job of fostering growth in our Spanish & medical skills throughout the week. Monica was a joy to stay with! I will say that the portions were not what we were used to, but I would recommend that you notify participants of what portions will be like so they can bring extra snacks if they want. Nico rocks and we love him! Thanks to everyone!! :)

By volunteering with Maximo Nivel, I was able to volunteer and be immersed in the culture of the city I helped in. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and this program allowed me to travel the world in an aspect most tourists never get to experience!

I have always loved traveling. I've been to several counties within Asia, Europe, North America, as well as Australia and New Zealand. I was always moved most when I traveled to 3rd world countries and saw just how much they needed and yet how welcoming and happy they appeared. I wanted to go to South America, particularly Cusco, Peru. This time I decided it was time to give back. So I applied for a volunteer mission as a nurse, which is the profession I hold in Canada. As expected, there was a very strong need for nurses and health care workers in general so the process was short and sweet. I saved for my plane ticket and off I went.
