Gain a competitive edge for medical school with immersive, credit-bearing medical internships in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru!
Maximo Nivel medical internships let you shadow local doctors and healthcare teams in private and public hospitals, local clinics, community health centers, and more—allowing you to learn firsthand about foreign healthcare systems, observe triage and patient care, and understand how healthcare is delivered in a different cultural context.
Available tracks include Medicine & Pre-Med, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Dentistry.
Programs start at 4 weeks and can go up to 52 weeks. Extensions are easily added!
Academic credits are available through Maximo Nivel's official School of Record.
Note: intermediate Spanish is required to be effective in a medical internship placement. If your Spanish language skills are not at this level, we offer online Spanish classes and our Spanish Immersion program to bring your skills up to the appropriate level.

Great insight into medical profession!
I spent 4 weeks shadowing a vascular doctor and saw and learned many interesting things! The Maximo Nivel staff were lovely and my host family was the best! :) Would definitely recommend this experience!
