A life-altering experience!

It's incredible to be immersed in the peace you will find at Makuyu. Tasks are generally simple in nature: helping with the laundry, cleaning, preparing food, and helping the children with their classwork. The staff is very friendly and happy to share about their lives or teach you a bit of Kikuyu or Swahili. You get used to a different pace of life and a simpler way of living, which can change you for the better if you let it. The children are very sweet and one of my favorite parts was walking with them to school in the mornings.
