Want a wellbeing internship with genuine scope — not just admin support? At Luderitz Blue School, Southern Namibia's only international Cambridge IGCSE school, student wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. As our Student Wellbeing Intern, you'll develop and deliver our PSHE curriculum, lead mental health awareness events, and support extracurricular programs that nurture the whole child. You'll work within a small, close-knit school community — culturally diverse, deeply curious, and connected to the natural world. We are a proud IOC-UNESCO Blue School, embedding ocean literacy and environmental education alongside rigorous academics. We believe that a young person's emotional and social development matters just as much as their grades — and this role puts you at the centre of making that real. Open to adults of all ages and backgrounds: psychology or education graduates, pastoral professionals, counsellors, or anyone who genuinely cares about young people's wellbeing. Live where the Namib Desert meets the South Atlantic — and leave a lasting mark.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I be doing as part of the internship?

You'll develop and deliver our PSHE curriculum, lead mental health events and initiatives, and contribute to the wider extracurricular programme. Working across the whole school community, you'll have genuine scope and responsibility — shaping not just individual sessions but the broader culture of wellbeing at our school. Designed for someone who wants to make a meaningful, lasting difference to young people's lives.

Where will I be staying in Luderitz?

Accommodation is provided in one of Luderitz's historic buildings — a boarding house or guesthouse — all within walking distance of school. Expect a close community atmosphere, and stunning views of the South Atlantic coast.

Is Luderitz safe for international interns?

Namibia is one of the safest countries in Africa, and Luderitz is one of its safest towns — a small, close-knit community with very low crime. There is no malaria or tropical disease risk, and the South Atlantic keeps the climate mild year-round: never too hot, never too cold.

What will I do in my free time in Luderitz?

Luderitz is a nature-lover's dream — flamingos, springbok, oryx, and the elusive brown hyena on your doorstep. Visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop, take a boat trip to Shearwater Bay's kelp forest, or brave the (cold) South Atlantic. Enjoy camping, hiking, braais with colleagues, or a night out at the local bars. During school breaks, many interns road trip through the Namib. There is nowhere else like it on Earth.

Who is eligible for this student wellbeing internship?

Open to adults of any age and all nationalities. Well suited to psychology, education, or health sciences graduates, experienced pastoral professionals, and qualified or retired counsellors. No specific certification is required — what matters most is a genuine commitment to young people's wellbeing and the motivation to take on real responsibility.
