Guinjata Bay is home to a myriad array of marine life, but it has never been studied in-depth for any prolonged amount of time. We hope to protect and study the diverse marine life found here, including many species of shark, ray, and humpback whale. What a great experience!
April 14, 2023by: Sebastian Piggott - United KingdomProgram: Marine Conservation in MozambiqueFantastic experience involving plenty of scuba diving and a great way to learn more about the community and marine environment. Amazing opportunity to further develop great skills applicable in many fields and coming away having helped with an important project for both education and future preservation of an important ecosystem. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in all marine and conservation related fields.
Honestly one of the most amazing experience of my life
April 09, 2023by: Sophie Shaw - United KingdomProgram: Marine Conservation in MozambiqueI did the two week program and had to go back for the 5 week program. It was such an amazing experience and I’ve made friends for life from it. I highly recommend it. From diving to the cultural experience was truly life changing. It’s really firmed the idea that I want to go into marine biology
It opened my eyes to the possibilities in marine biology
April 09, 2023by: Jamie Crouch - United KingdomProgram: Marine Conservation in MozambiqueGoing to Mozambique was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for a number of reasons. Firstly, I was supposed to go as part of my degree but due to covid restrictions, it was cancelled. I held my place however and had the opportunity to go after I finished university. The work we did there was fun, enjoyable while also being educational and important for the development of an NGO (coral reef health and fisheries research). I also had the opportunity to get my open water, advanced and rescue certification with the PADI centre at the resort. The staff were Incredible, from the owners of the resort to the diving staff, waiting staff and of course the founder of Love The Oceans herself. You can tell Francesca (founder) cares a lot about the research and marine environment as a whole while also helping her volunteers further their careers after they leave. This is done by having a group chat where she posts any job opportunities she finds, including the job I now have in the Maldives working with tiger sharks. Getting this job would not have been possible without her sending me the application, helping me with my CV and also giving me an amazing reference. Going to Mozambique helped me achieve my dream of becoming a marine biologist and I am forever grateful. I would highly recommend going for anyone who is interested in marine biology and wants to kick start their career.
