Teaching Business English TEFL Specialty Course

If you want a deeper understanding of how to teach business professionals compared to school children, this is a great course. I really enjoyed the zoom workshop my instructor did. I was not available at the time of the discussion but he provided a link to the video which was convenient to watch anytime and I found it to be very informative.

The course content gave useful examples of lesson plans which I referenced in my tasks and will be useful when I become a certified TEFL teacher. The instructor responded immediately to my emails and was concerned that a link to his lecture did not show up in the course announcement page or the email that he sent out. It was resolved immediately and I was able to join in the live lecture where I received much needed advice that helped me with the next task. He's extremely knowledgeable, and very approachable, using language that a new student in this field can understand. This has helped my confidence as I prepare to head abroad to teach English.

This course helped answer some of the questions I'd had regarding teaching business English specifically, like how to handle the students' actual jobs versus what should be taught in the classroom.Feedback was very thorough and helpful, and the instructor participated actively so we could get to know her better. This was more than I expected from a 2-week online course.

A very useful supplement to the main TEFL course. The information in the book was extremely helpful but the writing was a bit dry at times.I found myself having to reread certain passages to understand what was being said. I think the teacher is great, but he tends to be very rigid in his written communications (emails, etc). Then when you listen to his lectures he is not like that at all! It would be great to see some more of that friendly personality shine through in his written communications.

Great info in this course as the primary TEFL course seems to focus primarily on teaching students and younger learners in general.Emily did an excellent job explaining expectations and giving constructive feedback. Great instructor!

Out of the 3 ITA extension courses I've taken, this was the most difficult, but it was also really rewarding.I like having the text book. Its useful to have a physical copy. The book is is easy to read and has many great additional materials that will also be useful in the future.

Professor Gorham was incredibly personable and professional. I learned so much in this two-week course, and it has inspired me to take more speciality courses with ITA during the upcoming year. Loved this class and the professor's enthusiasm!

Good overview for teaching business English. I wished it was longer so we could get more detailed as I feel there is more to cover. For the interactive peer assignments, responding in video format is a nice personal touch, but having so many videos posted to the peer participation forum makes the videos lag to an insane degree.Otherwise, it's a great course.

It was a lot of information to absorb in 2 weeks and I gained a lot. I would have liked a longer course over especially since I am working full time in another field.I felt that the instructor provided information that was helpful and I appreciate that she completed a live lecture for this course, something that one doesn't get in many online courses.

For whatever reason I thought this course was longer - like 4 weeks, instead of 2. Still I'm glad I took it and learned a lot. The course content is full of helpful information and hints and the instructor's feedback was informative and helpful. Thank you!

The course content seemed quite detailed and effective even though the course had such a short term. I thought my instructor was great. She was experienced, well prepared, knowledgeable and quite helpful. I'm very glad I signed up for the course - definitely worth the money.

The course all around was very interesting and insightful. Perhaps additional links that go into each concept more in depth could be helpful. That said it has lots of examples provided to help plan own lessons. The teacher was very professional and always offered additional tips and suggestions, which was really helpful.

The business English course content was widely applicable and the professor was very familiar with the concepts in the course. I recommend getting the textbook as it's helpful to have the collection of materials to reference in the future when I begin teaching and need ideas and resources.

It helped me feel encouraged and excited about teaching Business English. It reassured me that a business background is not necessary to teach this course, though an extensive research on future BE students' needs is required. The teacher was very friendly and provided very informative and helpful feedback on my work.

The Needs Analysis assignment was very helpful and I'm sure I'll be able to use it in the future. Also, the instructor is very knowledgeable and helpful. She has answered any and all questions I had, as well as clarifying certain things such how to better utilize Google Forms to create an effective Needs Analysis. The textbook works well, just like the other books I have purchased from ITA.

The live lecture was engaging and helped with completion of assignments. Also, the activities worked well together as the second one built on top of the first. I think this class will help me going forward for working with adults and business professionals in TEFL.

The course content was appropriate for preparing teachers for Business English, as long as your main TEFL course certification course has been completed. I found that some of the quizzes had questions that were somewhat ambiguous, so choosing the correct answer was difficult at times. The teacher is very knowledgeable and experienced with Business English, so when she hosted her lecture, it was easy for the conversation to flow and she provided nice recommendations.

I would have liked more videos of lesson activities/tasks. The videos in the Online TEFL course were so helpful to me as I am one who needs to see things in practice. Norma gave a terrific live lecture during week 2 of the course that I found extremely informative and enlightening. I appreciate her passion for TEFL instruction, not to mention her friendly and approachable manner. I'd love to take another course with her.

Course content contains very helpful information and resources including links and videos. The instructor was very responsive to student peer participation and answered emailed questions promptly. With this course, you can really see how teaching English to business professionals can be different and requires different knowledge and skills.
