I had a great experience while completing my course through the international TEFL academy. Starting from my experience with my admission advisor to the end it was very smooth and did not take much time.
Really, I have no complaints about ITA. The course presents valuable lessons, is appropriately challenging, yet is approachable even by people like me who have never taught before. Excellent staff as well. I think it's also a great long-term investment as they provide so much more than just their courses. You also get free job search guidance; you get connected to other people who have traveled and taught all over the world; they have so many resources available to students that will be useful over the course of their career. It's really a wonderful course and a great long-term investment. It's worth every cent and every second.
This course with the TEFL Academy was one of the most wonderful educational learning experiences I have ever had. I have truly earned my wings to travel the world and help thousands of people everywhere.
The TEFL process was easy to understand, complete, and the benefits are numerous. I was surprised by how quickly the instructors gave feedback and answered my questions. The course material was easy to understand and the assignments were manageable. The deadlines are easy enough to meet if you keep a regular schedule.
I had somewhat expected the course to be much less complex in it's coverage of what goes on in a classroom. Being a substitute for a few years and having my own class for a couple more in the public school system I knew first hand that what the course was presenting would be really impactful in the working classroom. The course and the curriculum far exceeded my expectations. I was really glad they covered what they did in the course and I am confident going forward that I am prepared to teach ESL.
This course was better than college if you like to think and be creative this is undoubtedly an excellent way to help those skills grow. As a former correctional officer (prison guard,) and currently a safety manager at a factory, I also find that the skills taught here are transferable to both my former and current duties. So if your like me and want to travel the world and teach, or you want to rethink how you handle being a manager this is a great tool to have in your inventory.
My first contact with ITA was with Ashley, who was fantastic, she answered all my questions and really convinced me to go through ITA. The course itself was quite straight forward and typically took about 5 hours a week, rather than the 8-10 they suggested. I learned a lot in the course about how to teach, learning strategies and classroom management. These are all things I use everyday in the classroom to help my students. Compared to colleagues and friends of mine who took different courses, I definitely learned the most from mine. It was definitely one of the more expensive options which may be a deterrent for some. Students and their parents are paying a lot for English teachers (especially native speakers) so you want to be providing the students with a good education. ITA has a lot of useful links and information, but I find the website is very disorganized and it is difficult to find things if you haven't saved the pages. The experience I am having living overseas, learning a new culture and travelling is definitely one of the best choices I have ever made in my life. I would definitely recommend this to anyone even considering it.
TEFL online course was great. The amount of resources available are next to none. Being able to communicate with everyone in the class, the professor, and alumni make for such a rewarding course. I'm currently 7 months into my first teaching job in Seoul and it couldn't be better. There are so many red flags and big decisions to make before jumping ship and living/working overseas, but never once did I doubt what ITA provided me with. The course was the perfect crash course to prep me for what teaching ESL would be like. Sure, everything is different once you actually start, but getting the basics down and completing hours teaching/observing/tutoring was such a rewarding and thrilling experience. It's a shame I didn't do this straight out of college! Couldn't recommend it more to people debating or even looking for a change. I was in that boat over a year ago and it without a doubt is the best decision I've made in god knows how long. Thank you ITA.
