Australian media & film internship sharpened my marketing and pitching skills

August 18, 2026by: Cassidy Lampkin

I feel a lot more confident in my marketing skills after my 9-week Media & Film Production internship in Australia. Now, I have a better understanding of corporate environments, professional dynamics, and writing techniques. I was able to adjust my academic writing style to one that fits within the theme of marketing copy, which gave me more options when it comes to professional projects. I also have a much better idea of marketing perspectives I can bring to my work in film. Now, I know how to present approaches to specific demographics and how to appeal to general audiences. The transferable skills & practical experience gained will be a great addition to my resume as a filmmaker. I will able to contribute to strategies going forward with confidence and attention to detail in my film marketing pitches.

This experience helped me grow in ways that go beyond just career development.

What I enjoyed most about this internship was not just the professional experience, but the overall environment and people I was surrounded by. My host mum played a huge role in making the experience so positive. She was incredibly welcoming, supportive, and made me feel comfortable living in a new country. Having that kind of home environment made it much easier to adjust and allowed me to fully focus on both my internship and personal growth. Professionally, this internship gave me real insight into the real estate industry and helped me understand how things operate day-to-day in a fast-paced, international setting. I developed stronger communication, adaptability, and organizational skills, and learned how to navigate a professional environment with more confidence. Personally, living in a new place pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. I became more independent, open-minded, and confident in my ability to adapt to unfamiliar situations. Overall, this experience helped me grow in ways that go beyond just career development. It strengthened my confidence in myself and my ability to handle new challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

When must I pay my deposit to book my spot?

As soon as possible, as we require a minimum of a 90-day lead ahead in time to plan and coordinate placements for our Australia internships.

When is the remaining Balance of my Program Fees due?

The remaining Balance of your Program Fees for the Australia internships is due 90 days before your internship start date.

What is the accommodation like for the Australia internships?

Interns in Sydney are hosted in homestay accommodations, located in suburban areas, with convenient access to public transportation routes. In most cases, individuals will be allocated a private bedroom (subject to availability). In the event that you’re not allocated a private room, you may share with one other guest of the same gender. Please be prepared to share common living spaces (kitchen, living, dining and bathroom) with other genders.

How long does it take to commute from my accommodation to placement?

Due to the layout of Sydney’s urban and residential areas, it is normal to expect a commute to and from the internship placement using public transportation networks. The average public transportation commute time (between accommodation and the internship placement) is approximately 45-70 minutes (one-way).
