Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Research
Program Overview
Cancer research increasingly relies on biomedical data, while AI and machine learning are transforming how researchers identify patterns, explore disease mechanisms, and generate new insights.
This interdisciplinary, field-based course introduces students to data analytics and AI in cancer research. Students explore how biomedical datasets reveal relationships between clinical variables, biological markers, and disease outcomes, while considering the strengths, limitations, and ethical dimensions of data-driven approaches.
Athens serves as a living learning environment where biomedical research, data science, and healthcare innovation intersect. The course combines seminars, data workshops, exercises using cancer datasets, guest lectures from biomedical researchers, and site-based academic engagement. Students gain exposure to Python-based environments, KNIME, and H2O-3 while learning to interpret and communicate data-informed insights.
Developed and delivered by the Hellenic Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and Research (HCISR) in Greece, the program provides U.S. academic credit through Arcadia University, which serves as the School of Record.
