Minimal archaeology involved
November 26, 2025by: Amanda Craddock - United KingdomProgram: Peru – Archaeology Volunteering in Sacred Valley of the IncaI was excited when I read that I could expect to do 4-6 hours of archaeology Monday- Friday. And all the different tasks it would entail, such as excavation, artefact classification, etc. There was a warning about weeding, but I didn't expect to do it 10 days out of 12. Furthermore, the 'archaeology' was only for 2 hours a day. On one occasion it was only one hour. The people I stayed with were lovely and it's not their fault, it's the bureaucracy in Peru which you aren't warned about until you're already there! Basically because you're not qualified, you can only weed. There was no consistency, nearly everyday was somewhere different so there was no measure of progress. The only benefit was getting to see archaeological sites off the beaten track that tours don't cover. But every afternoon I was having to be creative to find something to do because I had 5 hours free time. There is only so much you can do in the middle of nowhere. This project was wildly missold and needs to be reevaluated.
Adventure of a lifetime
May 20, 2025by: Amalia Tofan - RomaniaProgram: Kenya - Masai Mara Lion and Wildlife ConservationI absolutely loved my time on this project. You get to be so close to wild animals, in their natural environment. the ecosystem is thriving in the Maasai Mara so you can expect to see lots of them, all the time. My favourite wildlife encounters, ranked: Cheetah successful hunt, 2 male giraffes fighting over a female, lion pride taking a morning walk and cubs playing. Of course there are many more but these were the most special. On top, the local team staff was amazing, I really bonded with the project coordinator and can proudly say we are now friends. :)
Hey Amalia. Thank you so much for sharing this! It sounds like you had an incredible experience, and wow, what an amazing list of wildlife encounters! A cheetah hunt and giraffes fighting over a female? That’s straight out of a nature documentary. We're so glad you felt a connection not just with the animals but also with the team, it’s those bonds that really make a volunteer trip special. We'll pass on your kind words to the coordinator too, they’ll be thrilled! :) - GoEco Team

من مجرد حلم إلى واقع حي
May 12, 2025by: Maroua halimi - AlgeriaProgram: Japan – Wildlife Conservation and Cultural ImmersionThis fully funded volunteer trip was one of the best experiences of my life. At 16, I never imagined working with people from different cultures and learning so much about responsibility and teamwork. Everything was well-organized, and I felt supported every step of the way. This experience truly opened my eyes and changed me in a positive way. I highly recommend it to any young person – it's more than just travel, it's the start of something amazing.
Thank you so much for this lovely review Maroua! We're beyond happy to hear how impactful the experience was for you, especially at just 16! It’s incredible to see young volunteers stepping out of their comfort zones, embracing new cultures, and growing through teamwork and responsibility. We're so glad you felt supported throughout, and we couldn’t agree more, it's not just a trip, it’s the beginning of something truly meaningful. Thanks again for being part of it! - GoEco Team

I was really craving adventure. I felt like I was so stuck in my city and needed to go away and experience something else. I wasn't quite sure if I could manage planning a trip all by myself, so I figured travelling with some sort of volunteer organization would give me the experience that I wanted and be organized. I have always had a passion for animals and wildlife, so I wanted to do something around that.
