Volunteer with Monkeys in Argentina

The Argentina Monkey Project is a rescue, rehabilitation, and release center for howler monkeys rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. It has been working for over 20 years with howler monkeys, a species inhabiting the forests and jungles of northeast Argentina but is hunted for sale for the domestic pet trade. The project is the first and only center for primate rehabilitation in Argentina and the only one in the world that works to rehabilitate howler monkeys.

The program consists of various stages of physical, psychological, and social rehabilitation. They also work with orphan monkeys who have been taken from their natural habitats to satisfy the pet trade or to be held as exhibits in zoos.

Apart from monkeys, the center also cares for a number of domestic and other wild animals. These include a large number of dogs, cats, geese, horses, llamas, donkeys, sheep, ducks, and chickens that have been rescued and are under rehabilitation.
