Incredible and immersive opportunities

I would be likely to recommend CIEE Study Abroad for the incredible opportunities they offer students to immerse themselves in new countries and cultures. However, it is important to note that each program is supported by different staff members, so the community and experience can vary depending on the specific country you choose.

I thought the program was incredibly well run and versatile. Our advisors were super helpful and so passionate about what they do. Also, the pairing with host families was so well run. I loved the program!

I felt so supported when I was away and from the very beginning process from home. The on site staff and online staff for the preparation were very willing to help with anything. I loved the structure of the home stay, field trips and classes at the local universities.

I think CIEE allows for a good mix between initiating a bond between fellows participants of the program and allow each individual the opportunity to ingratiate themselves in the local community. That balance is sublime.

I would recommend a CIEE Study Abroad program for a friend or peer if they are looking for independence while on a program, but also the option to participate in extracurricular activities if they so please.

Studying abroad increased by level of independency, comfortability with my own identity, and gave me a completely new perspective on the world. If someone is able to go financially I would 100000% recommend it.

Experience another culture

The only reason I wouldn't recommend a peer to CIEE is if they are not independent or ready to go abroad and live with a family (which I think is an extremely valuable part of an experience living in another culture and fully immersing oneself)

Program administration was really bad

Program administration was really bad, no support system. Awful advising when choosing classes. No group activities to promote unity, or help get to know the city. Housing was very hit or miss.

I definitely recommend this program but be aware at the start and end dates. Additionally, administration of program events and classes is a little spotty.

The CIEE program in BA is great. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They work hard to place you in a good host home, and they have dorms where you stay with other spanish speaking students. The academic offerings are impressive. If you go to BA with CIEE there are a number of different options for course work available depending on your level of Spanish and goals. You can take classes alongside other Argentine students at University of Buenos Aires or the Universidad Pontifica Catolica if you want to go for full immersion or take classes through course offerings through CIEE with other CIEE students. CIEE will provide you with tutors at no additional cost if you feel you need them.

Buenos Aires is an amazing party city. Party from 12am to 8am every night if you want. The dollar goes a long way. It's awesome.

My only complaint with CIEE is that the program is fairly large -- 100+ students -- and the temptation to not get out and meet actual Argentinians is strong.

I would recommend this program to anyone who is serious about improving their Spanish but unsure if they're ready for immersion without a support net.

I would recommend going for the fall year because you won't want to come back after a semester.

Studying abroad in BA was a fabulous, though challenging, experience. The CIEE program I participated in had great trips, academic support, and info about cultural activites.
