CIEE HS Summer Abroad: Dance & Culture in Paris

Glide through Paris' historic dance scene while refining your skills, culminating in an original dance performance.

Paris has been an international hub for ballet since the 17th century when King Louis XIV founded the world's first ballet school in 1661. The Paris Opéra Ballet, established soon after, remains one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world. With your fellow Global Navigators, use skills learned in and out of the studio to create and perform an original piece reflective of your time in France.

Hit the dance studio 5 to 6 hours Monday through Friday for intensive dance training before diving into comprehensive coursework touching on themes of dance history and foundational techniques. Participate in expert-led workshops exploring other styles such as contact improvisation.

Meet local teens while exploring Paris's parks, open-air markets and riverside hangouts. On excursions, tour the opulent Palace of Versailles and the medieval town of Provins, known for its well-preserved ramparts. Your time in Paris will merge rigorous dance training and cultural discovery in the City of Light.
