Hello, my name is Jordan, I am from Ecuador. I am a psychology student with a concentration in human analysis. My college is located in Connecticut but I am from New York. I chose this program because I wanted to learn and have a little bit of experience in psychology. The staff, I highly recommend them. The coordinators are good. I highly, really recommend this place for anybody who would want to do psychology or anything related to the field. Here in Athens, you can visit many beautiful places. I really enjoyed my time over here and I will hopefully come back next year.

Hi, my name is Viktor, I am from Reykjavík, Iceland. I study at Reykjavík University. I am here in Athens for a program that has allowed me to observe surgeries at two hospitals in Greece. So first I was at Gennimatas Hospital and now I am at the Metropolitan General. During my time here I have seen approximately thirty-five surgeries. Greece is amazing and Athens is wonderful. I have had a fantastic time here. The culture and everything are very warm. Fully amazing. The team of Cerca Abroad has been incredibly helpful, providing me with all the information I needed throughout what’s happening in the city and where to go. I’ve had an amazing time. Hi, my name is Marin, I am from Pennsylvania in the States but I go to school in Arizona, at the University of Arizona where I am a science undergraduate. I wanted to do this program because I wanted to put myself in a position that was very different from what I am used to in the States and find a new way of learning. Everything about this program has been super helpful. Everyone that has met me here during my stay has made sure I was comfortable, made sure I knew where I was going, and was always there if I needed something. I’ve been very happy with this experience. I got to see so many things that I wouldn’t be able to see at my university’s programs, as that would be hands-on procedures. I got all the questions I needed answered from the people that have been working in the field for decades. It has been very enjoyable and I would do this program again.

Hi, my name is Sarah Sewing, I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I am a third year on Missouri State University. I am a premed and I have absolutely enjoyed being in Athens, Greece. The entire Cerca Abroad team and program has been amazing. They helped me out so much and I had the opportunity to scrab in in surgeries which is so cool, definitely something I wouldn’t have the chance to do in the States. So I really enjoyed this program.

Hi, my name is Margaret North. I am a junior at Missouri State; I am on the pre-medicine on studying biology. I absolutely love being in Greece so far. I’ve been here for a week now and I still have a week left. The Circa organization is phenomenal. They are there for anything you need them, they are responsive and they’ll never let you down. The hospital is phenomenal. All the doctors I’ve been able to shadow were incredible and answered all the questions I needed to. I got to explore other specialties that I don’t think I would or had the chance to explore, so that’s been great.

Hi, I am Hayden Gropp, I am from Colorado in the USA. I am in this program because I was interested into anesthesiology and this is one of the programs that they offered. I have been in surgeries and doing different clinics around. Everyone in Cerca has been great in helping out and with any questions I’ve had. I am enjoying Athens a lot. There’s a lot of different places to go visit and I would recommend coming here if you want to be in surgeries all the time.

Hello, my name is Solomon, I am from Dallas, Texas. I picked this program because I wanted to gain a global experience, see similarities and differences on how healthcare works around the world and compared to the US. So I’ve never been in Greece and this is a country I’ve always had in my bucket list. So far it’s been good. I’ve only been here for a couple of days, so I’ve learnt some things I wouldn’t have been able in the US. I have enjoyed the fact that the doctors I have been with so far have provided step by step explanations of what they are doing in the moment. Reception has been great. I wouldn’t have to wait for response from Dennis or for anybody across the Circa Abroad team. I really do appreciate it. I wouldn’t have so far any complaints, so yes.

Hi, my name is Cayley Harris and I am from Alabama. I go to school at the University of Alabama. I chose this program to be able to compare the differences between a private hospital in Greece and a private or even public hospitals in the US, just to see what is different and how everyone work together in a hospital. Also, being in a foreign country and being able to adjust to learn new things. I’ve been here for four weeks. This is my fourth week here. I got to be in cardiology and surgery and this week I was in MOR scans. I think it was fun and interesting to learn different stuff here compared to the US. I’ve been able to go around Athens and explore the city. So this internship in a foreign country is in your list, I would say do it.

Hi, my name is David, I come from San Diego, California. I go to school at San Diego State University. I am on a kinesiology major there, so our specific college requires of us to go on a study abroad program at some point of our career as post graduates, so that’s why I chose this specific program and to come to Greece. My experience so far has been really nice. I’ve been here for two weeks. So in my first week I got into kinesiotherapy and the OR. That has been an amazing experience as well. It’s something I wouldn’t have been able to do or experience back in the States. Greece and specifically Athens where I am right now, is a really nice city, very cheap. People are really friendly and helpful. Definitely got to see a lot places. The people are cool, the team here is also great, very responsive and very helpful. Any questions you have they would answer almost immediately. So, I definitely would recommend that you apply to this program.

Hi, I am Mia Houston, I am from Missouri and go to Missouri State University on a premed, hoping to get myself a neurobiology major. I found this program through girls that were already planning on doing it, and I am so lucky that they’ve told me about it. I’ve actually loved being in Greece so far. I’ve been here for a week and I have one more left. So, I got time to explore, get back to the hospital and have the opportunity to see other specialties that I wouldn’t have originally planned for myself. That really helps me to become a grounded doctor, seeing how a hospital works in every aspect of it. So this is just an amazing opportunity and I would definitely recommend it.

I most enjoyed the interactivity and cultural immersion of the internship. I was able to observe various surgical procedures and clinical consultations while immersing myself in Tanzanian culture and engaging with the local population. Although the internship primarily focused on Orthopaedic Surgery, its interdisciplinary structure allowed me to collaborate with professionals from various medical fields. As an aspiring PA, one of my greatest takeaways from this experience was recognizing the importance of cross-cultural communication and remaining open-minded and unbiased as a competent healthcare professional. Communication and support from both my internship program manager and local team were outstanding. I couldn't have asked for a better team to help me feel prepared and assist me throughout the experience. I enjoyed being able to meet so many new people from around the world. Experiencing a variety of different cultures helped me to realize that although unique, we also share many similarities.

I am Adam I am from the United States and I am here in Greece for this Engineering program. This program is a cool opportunity to both travel and to taking an engineering internship and specifically in drone engineering which I am particularly interested. I got to see the end of the SMARTSEA program for underwater drones and it was very cool to go to the port and actually launch drones. I got to fly an air drone and video that while happening. On this side of the planet its definitely warm, Thessaloniki I a very cool city and I never seen a city so live at 2am at night

Hi, my name is Dobby Baum. I am from New York and I am currently a senior premed. I chose this program because I wanted to have something extra on my medical school application, something different, out of the box. Here in Greece what was unique was that I actually go to the OR and actually scrub into surgery which I don’t know if I would have this opportunity in New York, so that was very cool. The people here are very friendly and nice. I am Jewish and I actually went here to the Jewish community, so that was really nice, I got to meet some people and it was nice overall.

Hi, my name is Nada Hijou and I am from Massachusetts and that’s where I go to school. And I am here in Athens with this program and I just want to say that love it. It’s been one of the best programs I’ve ever been in. It shows just a lot. Currently what I’ve been doing is shadowing surgery. It’s been such an incredible experience because I got to be in surgery which I wouldn’t have been able to do that in America. As well as sometimes I’ve been scrubbing as well. I was just in a heart surgery so that was the best thing I’ve seen in my entire life. It was an open heart actually as far as I remember. From there it was insane because at that point I never got to see that in person but I have always learnt about it, so, to see that was incredible. Athens is an amazing place to stay. You are so close ti the islands. You can reach from here if you want to go. Also the night life here is phenomenal. I love Athens and this program here and I would definitely recommend it.

Hi, my name is Ella Growney and I am from Michigan. And I chose this summer to come to Greece for a pre dental internship. I really enjoyed my time here and I got to experience a lot of dental practices, get to watch different surgeries and things like that. It’s been a really great experience here in Greece and I loved being able to see all the cultural changes and I guess just adventure around Athens. Throughout my time here I’ve had the chance to meet some really fun girls. I would really recommend joining the Facebook group and getting to know some people before you come, so that you can make some connections and things like that. So that, since I lived alone and some of my friends in a different apartment, we’ve been able to connect. I’ve been here now for six weeks and this is my second to last day, so I’m almost done. It’s been really fun. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some really awesome people. I do think the coordination here has gone pretty well. It’s given me the opportunity to see different types of dentist practices and I’ve also been able to see things I didn’t before.

Hi, my name is Sharon Nugent, I am from Oregon, Virginia. I go to school to the College of Charleston, North Carolina. I went on this program to learn more about physiotherapy and actually see what they do. This has been a great experience to really see what is done and I’ve never had an experience like this. So, it’s been a great experience to see that. Also, I got to see surgeries which is a thing I’ve been interested but it was really cool to be able to see how things are done, which I know I wouldn’t have the chance to experience in the US. It’s been great here, I’ve learnt a lot. The coordinators have been really amazing. Seeing Athens has been amazing, I’ve met some wonderful people. So, it’s been a great time.

Hi, my name is Simrin Rajani and I go to the Virginia Polytechnic. I chose this program because I would want to see how a hospital works and get some hands on experience. I was also able to travel, that’s why I came here to Greece. So far I love it. It’s been great. I got to see a lot of surgery. Especially spinal surgeries have been very interesting to me because I want to go into neurology. I also got to the neurology department which has also been extremely interesting and I am going back there today. Other than that, the coordination has been great, no problems at all. We’ve had a great time here. Athens has been great. We are going on an island tomorrow. I’ve seen acropolis; we’ve had a great time. So, everything has been great so far.

Hi, I am Laura, I am from Canada and I chose this internship because I am interested in medicine and I really enjoyed it so far. There’s been a lot of shadowing through this experience, I’ve seen certain operations, I’ve visited some patients and everyone has been really nice to me. The coordination was well done. The culture was amazing.

Hi, my name is Britney Black, I am a master’s student at Montclair State University, studying cancer biology. I chose to shadow an intern at the Metropolitan General at Athens in Greece, because I wanted to learn about medicine in different cultures and through a different perspective of how treatment is across the world. During my time here I was able to watch a brain tumor being taken out. I was very pleased with the hospitality of the Greeks here. They allowed me to understand from a very personal way that I would never have had the experience in the US. So it was very good for that. I have spent a lot of my time in Athens in Cafes and I loved that because back home I would have to drive like fifty minutes to get to Starbucks. I am really happy on how everything is so close, I got to see the Acropolis. The program coordinators were really nice. When I needed them for anything they would always be there.

Hi everyone, I am Sara Herz, I am a recent graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University. I got my degrees in Biology, Psychology and Chemistry. I am here in Athens, Greece on a scholarship from my college, which I am very grateful for. I picked Athens so that I would be able to meet a bunch of different people and the opportunity to intern in a hospital. Everyone here has done exactly what they were instructed to do, I really appreciate all of their help. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship and I would recommend this to anyone.

Hi, my name is Tashir Balard, I am from New Jersey and I came to this program because I basically wanted to see the coacher in a different country and see how they work in a hospital and see the technology and gain a different experience how they do it here, outside the US. Besides that, I am an undergraduate student in biochemistry and here in Athens is a very nice place, the people were really helpful. For example, I’ve had trouble with the metro and they have helped me very easily. They are very nice. During my time at the hospital I saw so many surgeries, I also saw a spinal fusion which is a very hard surgery- approximately nine hours- it was really good. I watched a brain tumor surgery. Today I am at the kidney analysis. The program itself is really nice. The directors are here for you when you need them. They are really one text away. Yes, great time.

Hi, I am Nikita and I come from the University of Newcastle, Australia. I did this program as part of my placement fee at the University. It has been amazing. I’ve seen so many different departments and surgeries. Greece itself is absolutely incredible; so many things to see and do. And the staff was also amazing.

Hi, I am Zoe, I am a graduate from the University South Florida. I chose this internship because I wanted to explore a new city and shadow doctors. The program directors here have been amazing. They would accommodate our every need. My favorite thing was that I’ve been able to see the actual surgeries and stand in the rooms. Athens is absolutely beautiful and I think everyone should visit Athens at least once.

Hi, I am Filomila Mouzouraki, I live here in Greece. I chose this program as an aspiring doctor. It gave me the opportunity to visit different specialties and give me a sense of what I want to do with the rest of my life. I also chose this program because it gave me the opportunity to meet new people and exchange information, experiences and generally just laugh with people from all over the world- because that’s really exciting for me. As far as the program is concerned, I fell in love with surgery and the OR, because it is an opportunity I don’t think I could have anywhere else. The coordinators were so nice. I would totally recommend- five out of five stars. They are easy to communicate with and they would give you the advice and the help you need, just one text away. So, it’s cool. And, as a Greek, I will say that Athens is cool as well.

Hi, I am Ingrid, I am from North Carolina. I go to school in California and I chose to go on a dental internship because I wanted to gain the experience especially in Greece and also get to explore the dental industry in more detail. I’ve had a great experience. I got to see all the different specialties, shadow a lot of procedures and the dentists have all been really nice and welcoming and would answer a lot of questions. Exploring Athens has also been really great. It’s a great city so I definitely would choose to come here again if I had the option.

Hi, I am Sarvesh Rajkumar, I am nineteen years old, and I am pursuing my undergraduate degree in computer science engineering in the National Institute of Technology Trichy, in India. It has always been my dream to pursue a career in robotics. As a kid I’ve always chased that. So now, since I’m in college, I have chosen this internship, as I stumbled across this. So, my first step towards robotics was getting my own drone. As I came across engineering drones, I was really interested in this program. That’s’ why I’m here- I really like doing it. So, my first task was building a drone. As I had three printed parts of the drone and they helped me make more of it. The first thing to do was to assemble the drone, gather all the electronics. Make all the connections. We have done the sorting of the wires. We had tried then to calibrate the software behind the flight controller. The idea was an auto pilot and we had to calibrate all the sensors, the motors and to check on any safety failures since there are many parameters for that. After that we had to connect the controller so that it can connect through Wi-Fi, using a machine planner. As you can see, this is an assembled drone, his here is the flight controller. Before I had to come here, I’ve had a few issues with my visa as well. That was the first time that I would have to be alone in Greece, but Cerca Abroad has helped me throughout it. They have dealt with any issues. The admin was really helpful and my mentor here who’s been helping us has been really supportive and friendly and he seems to be just one of us but he has so much experience and many things to teach us. Once here, it’s been really good so far and I really enjoy it. Since my first time in Greece, I’ve been across countries in Europe but Greece was my first time. I do stay in Thessaloniki. It’s really beautiful. I got to use the buses and the transport system.They are convenient. There are stores that are 24/7. It’s really nice and safe to walk around here. There are many different archaeological Museums, the beaches… it’s really great down here.

My name is Elliot and I am from Oxford. I chose this internship program on Olive tree farming as I wanted to learn more about olive trees and just general farming in Greece. I already know how to farm on a large scale in the UK but I wanted to see how it’s done on a small scale on many different plots of land in Greece. I have always enjoyed eating olives as they are very healthy and I have enjoyed using all the products associated with olives such as oil and soap. During this internship, I learnt retain olive tree protection and to achieve maximum olive growth. How to use all the machinery associated with olive trees farming such as trimmers, chainsaws, extractors and scooters to have access to all the olive tree locations. The coordination from Cerca Abroad was excellent. Dimitri was a very good boss. He taught me everything he was doing in a kind manner that was not rushed and easy to understand. He told me there was no mistake for me during this and I was very flattered. The overall experience of Crete was fun and enjoyable. I learnt a great deal about olive tree farming and all the machineries used to grow and harvest them. I have enjoyed my time here so much, that I am buying an apartment here to use as a holiday home and to come when harvest season is on, during September and December. Thank you.

I chose Greece partly to practice my Greek and also to working at a hospital in Boston I wanted to compare to how it’s here in Athens. It’s been really great having time to explore and see Athens. See the cultural differences, the food, and also my program was very accommodating. I told them I was interested in cardiology, so they made an effort to show me everything related to cardiology in the hospital. So it’s been awesome, really great

Hi, my name is Gabriel, I am nineteen years old, I am an undergraduate currently and I’m going to study at the University of Newcastle in September. I’m going to be studying mechanical engineering. I chose this engineering internship in the basis of my passion for innovation, design and problem solving and this internship portrayed whatever met those needs. I was able to build a drone; I fulfilled what I went to study. So the first task I was handed to, was building a drone. I followed on from the previous interns’ task, where they had to build the electronics for the drone, as well as designing the drone. I, then, had to follow on and build the rest of the drone using a 3d printer. I designed the rest of the parts. Made sure they would be stable and able to fly. A few other tasks I was handed to was to design and build some ? which I sketched out and see how to fundamentally sketch in mechanical engineering. I was also towards the basics of some of the tools used in mechanical engineering. Which I think will be very handy for my engineering degree. My internship was hosted by Cerca Abroad. During my first week my coordinator was ill, so I thought that things would go slowly. However there was a mend during the second week and turned out more smoothly. On the second week I learnt the most and I was able to complete the project for my drone which made me feel that on the second week I made the most out of my internship. So, yes, it was good. This is my first time in Thessaloniki, as it is my first time alone. I was able to mature and find my next step in maturity. I was also able to help with ? which is about half an hour from the center. I was able to sightsee and see some of the amazing beeches they have to offer. As well have the chance to view some of the architecture in Thessaloniki. I was also able to go shopping and visit some of the food sites of which I was able to taste some of the Greek cuisine, including tzatziki etc., which I enjoyed thoroughly.

My name is Esther, I am from Georgia, United States. I am a premed student and I chose to make this medical internship so that I could get a different experience in a hospital outside the U.S. Just get to see medicine practices outside where I live. This internship has given me the opportunity to see so many different types of medicine, I’ve been able to shadow a cath lab, neurology, narcology, I’ve seen a lot of surgeries. It’s been very valuable because those are areas I never really expected to be able to shadow. Seeing them has helped me narrow down what I would exactly like to do in my future as a medical professional. For example, I’ve seen a lot of surgeries and decided that surgery is not my thing. So, it’s definitely been a valuable trip. Besides that, I’ve been able to meet a lot of people, a variety of friends from different places around the US, friends from England, Canada and lots of different places. So, I’ve been glad to be able to meet people and then just being in Athens has been a great time. There’s so much to see, and the city itself. There are nearby islands and the coast and everything, so I’ve had a great time being in this internship and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Hi, I am Devan, I am studying Medical Engineering. I just did this medical internship because I wanted to get a better sense of what I want to study, since I am still early in my College career. I have not really good holistic overview of what is like to work in a hospital. It’s really nice to see a day in the life of a doctor and I’ve seen a bunch of really cool procedures, kneecap replacements, really cool to watch. It’s been a very good experience. It’s not stressful at all. All of the other interns are really nice, I’ve definitely made some friends here. It’s been really fun.

Hi guys, my name is Daniel, I am from Canada and I go to school in Ontario. I chose the medical internship because I am studying physiotherapy at my University. This internship has been going really well so far. My first week here I’ve been in the physiotherapy lab. During my second week here I’ve been doing surgery. The surgeons are really nice, they do a great job explaining what they’re doing while you get into shadowing them in the room. The hours that they give you here are perfect as you finish normally having some time to explore Athens. It’s really nice around here and I really enjoyed my experience.

Hi, I am Yogyana Santana-Salais, I am from Texas, and I did the dental internship in Athens. I chose this internship because there’s not really many options to do this internship throughout the world and that was a great opportunity and was in Greece. So, throughout my internship I was able to see a lot of dental procedures I learnt a lot from the dentists I shadowed, and I was able to see a few other specialties. See more in depth of the different specialties that are in dentistry. It was good to have Samantha to communicate with, if we had any issues with the apartment or if we had any questions throughout our internship. Cerca Abroad was very helpful and fast with dealing with any problems. I had a great time in Athens. I loved the chance to visit a few islands. Greece is just an amazing country to visit. So, yes.

So, my name is Michael Klintworth, born and raised in South Africa. I am currently studying medicine in the United States. I came on this internship in Athens, particularly for the medical internship. One major reason is my passion for medicine and the ability to grow, cannot have been captivated or increased in the States as it probably was here. We were supposed in the internship to stand in a corner and watch and observe and they will teach you from the side but the doctor has been a lot of the time shadowing and help me get a hands on experience, working with the patient, to the point where I have had the privilege of being involved with an ACL repair and a few other great surgeries most people wouldn’t have been able to experience like I have- this has been absolutely great. The overall internship, besides medical, is phantastic. They’re very helpful, very willing to come and spend hours with you concerning what you need. That aside, being in Athens is absolutely amazing. The history and culture here is fantastic. The food is great- really is. The best part is the tomatoes “gemista”. The tourist sites are amazing, in particular the Parthenon is fantastic. The museums as well. Absolutely great. I’m not sure I would want to do this again anywhere else. Fantastic.

Hi, my name is Max Fry, I am from State Oregon in the U.S. and I am a premed student. I chose to come to Athens on this internship to learn more just about how medicine is practiced in Europe. Got to see how healthcare operates on a global scale. Also, to learn more about medicine in general. Get used to the specialties and really learn as much as I can about healthcare and how patients are treated around the world. I think for me the most interesting thing that I saw in the hospital was the operating room. I think that seeing some of the robotic surgeries and seeing the new technology in medicine was very interesting. I also saw some plastic surgeries, which is very interesting to watch such as breast implants, lumbar sections- very interesting. One really rare thing I have never seen before, that was new to me, was that I got to see an open spine surgery from the thoracic spine down to the lumbar spine. I had never seen a real spine before, so seeing in person and in action was really crazy and very eye opening. I think that also, seeing the cardiology department was very interesting. Seeing all the different cases of heart, different conditions that the patients had, has been very interesting to me. I had a great time in the hospital learning as much as I can. I think as far as Athens goes, I’m loving the city, absolutely beautiful, there are so many tourist attractions and different things you can do with the other interns or just with people like Dimi all the way. So, yes, it’s really a life changing experience. Absolutely gorgeous and yes, I’ve had an amazing time.

Hi, my name is Traci Kozawa, I am physiotherapy major at San Diego State and I am from Los Angeles, California. I chose this internship along with my fellow classmates as a requirement for school. I wanted to do something pertaining to my major setting abroad, so I found this program. I was able to do something more catered towards my career path. So this hospital has been great. I’ve been at the physiotherapy department. It has been a really cool experience compared to the US, I also have experienced going up to the OR and see orthopedic surgeries, which was very cool, to see how it works on the back end, instead of seeing just physiotherapy. The Cerca team has been great, very responsive, I knew I could text them whenever I needed anything and I had a great time in Athens, first time in Europe, lots to see, lots to do- I’ve been enjoying it.

Hi, I am Paul, I am a graduate student from Western University back in Canada. I graduated this year and I came here to work as an intern at the Metropolitan General Hospital. I came here to intern because I wasn’t really sure about why I wanted to become a doctor or the specialties I was really interested in. I think this really helped to get a perspective on what kind of specialties I am really interested in, what different specialties do and how these doctors live on their lives. I think this really helped me out in learning why I want to become a doctor and the specialty I want to follow. My time in Athens was really great. The coordinators here are great. They will show you on the spot and if you guys come here you’ll have a great time and learn a lot like shadowing doctors and the specialties here.

I am Giorgio and I am from Italy. I am a 3rd year medical student at the university of Sassari in Sardinia and I choose this experience in Metropolitan General Hospital to combine my theoretical knowledge with practice. In particular the field of surgery. This experience was very valuable, from clinic to surgery. In particular in the clinic I was instructed to perform an electromyography and how to read an electrocardiogram and above all to take care of the patient. In surgery, on the other hand, I could appreciate the use of DaVinci, which is a modern surgical system but also cardio, neurosurgical, orthopedical, urology but also plastic surgery. Here doctors are very organized and they allow you to ask questions and they are very helpful. Athens is a big city full of life and fun and I could appreciate it with my colleagues when I finished my shift at Metropolitan General Hospital. The quality of this program is very high and very organized and they allowed me to ask many questions

I am a fourth-year public health science major on a pre-med track as I want to get a more experience on the medical field, specific for surgery as I know since I was 15-16 years old that I just wanted to e a surgeon. Just the thrill of being in the OR excites me. And it's been a pleasure, especially since I've seen so many different specialties. Anywhere from in physiology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery. I've seen so many different kinds of surgery since I've been here. It's been so interesting to see all these different things. Because it's different from just like learning something in a book. I'm actually seeing it in real life, which is a lot better than just reading about it. I'm a very visual person. It just puts everything in perspective of different connections in the body. And the doctors are really helpful and helped me in answering any questions or identifying different areas of the body. And I highly recommend this internship anyone wanting to go to medical school. Because it really helps you see what you like, what you don't like. So I highly recommend that. And Athens is such a great city. There's quite a few things to see here. We're close to so many different islands. And the weather is just amazing. And the hospital is looking at such a great area. And I'm only two metros stops away, which is really nice. And I've made so many close friends since I've been here with the other interns. And our connections are true. People come all over the world. So I really highly recommend this program to anyone. And I have such a great experience. It's been a pleasure.

Hi, I am Morgan, I am from California, I just graduated from the San Diego State University, my bachelor’s in kinesiology and I needed to do a medical internship because I wanted to explore more specialties that you don’t necessarily get the chance in the U.S. So, it’s been cool to watch surgeries and kind of see more in depth of these specialties that I want to go into. My mane is Joe, I am from Plymouth, England. I chose this internship because I am going to University next year and I needed this for my application. So that’s been a perfect chance for me. Cerca has been brilliant in so many ways. In particular with the hospital and the experiences that I’ve had. It’s ranged from a knee surgery, from replacements to brain tumors, it’s been incredible and I would recommend it to everybody. The transport has been simple, quick to the hospital- you can’t go wrong. The apartment has been very nice. There’s many places to go out and eat and Athens itself as a place is really nice. I particularly liked the Acropolis which is the most famous part. There much to do and I recommend it.

Hi, I am Joliana, I am twenty one, from London. I did this internship in physiotherapy because it’s what I want to do at my master’s and I wanted to gain experience with travelling and that would be a good combination. I saw some surgeries which was pretty cool because of the coordination in the hospital here. So you get to know a kind of different aspects of how everything works, including doctors, surgeries etc. In terms of coordination it’s kind of flexible which is pretty cool because you want to travel and then have like to choose when to come in, do whatever you want to. Everything is really very flexible which was good. In terms of Athens it’s pretty cool, you’ve got the beach here, the restaurants, and then you have the weekends where you have a chance to visit an island and come back.

Hello everyone, I am C.C. Aiyappa, I am doing my graduate studies in electronics and telecommunications. The name of my University is N.M.I.M.S. The reason I chose this internship is because it involved engineering and drones really fascinate me, the number of tasks they can achieve and the future potential as well. I believe drones can be used on how to reach places in situations and environments that it is not safe for humans to walk. That is collecting data on research basis and I think we will keep growing by using drones. In the beginning of my internship I was to familiarize myself with the types of drones. I realized how the underwater rov and air drones and other drones have similar structures, similar electronics that are being used. This is a small model that I have made, which is still in the making, that I use solid works to a model. I use different kinds of plastics for the parts. In my free time I really enjoyed at first exploring the city. I loved my evening walks next to the boat side. Exploring the city, walking by the boat side. I really enjoyed going in the evenings there, daily actually. I always found people to play with there. In my experience the people here have been friendly. I have learned a lot of Greek. A lot about the Greek culture. It’s been really fun and safe. My living space has been safe as well. I’ve been enjoying myself and still do what I enjoy more. So I never had any issues but whenever I had any smaller problem I was given a lot of individual attention by my mentors and my professors and I had a very comfortable stay.

Hi, I am Brieanne from Canada and I just finished a three week dental internship at the Yoda O.D.C. Clinic in Athens, Greece. I previously graduated with two undergraduate bachelor degrees, one in chemistry and one in my science. My University is Memorial University in Ontario. I am extremely glad that I did decide to do this internship. I did it to get a chance to study abroad and experience the day to day of a dentist before I begin to enter school. This has been an amazing experience; from the beginning the coordinators have been extremely helpful, even before my arrival. Every information was provided even before me asking and that had made me feel comfortable and safe. The nurses and doctors here at Yoda were very helpful from the beginning. Thy felt more than happy to answer to any questions that I had. It was especially interesting to watch the various procedures that I saw, because my dentist was actually a surgeon specialist. During this internship in Greece was just a bonus that the clinic is situated downtown, so I had the chance to explore the city. Do various tourist activities and then even get the chance to see some Greek islands. So, if there’s anyone considering of doing this internship with Cerca Abroad, they offer a very wide range of things. I recommend it.

Hello, my name is Cheyenne Dabel, I’ve been in this program at the Metropolitan General and I am from the United States, Utah area. I wanted to come to shadow here because I plan to apply to medical school in the April/May season that’s coming up and what’s a better place to come to Greece to shadow. Some highlights from my experience here is a lot of different surgeries. I saw plastic surgeries, general surgery, and cardiac surgery. So, you get to have a bit of everything. Every day I would see something different. The coordination with this program was very good. Every need I had was answered and taken care of right away. Greece was the best place to be and Athens is a very busy place but you get used to it fast and you get to walk fast as well. So, I had a lovely time.

Hi. My name is David Rocha, I was a history major in college. I came to Athens after an inquiry. So, what I did as an intern was- as you can see- mostly marble sculpting. I was to learn a bit about Heraldry and calligraphy. I helped to restore a bit of a church. I learnt how to do mosaics. The reason I chose this internship was because I wanted to get some sort of more experience. The reason I decided to do it was to learn more about what I like to do. Also to meet other people and make friends kind of influenced my decision. As for tourism, it was really cool going to different museums. Just because, before I came to Athens as an intern, I loved to visit museums and look at sculptures and paintings and such. And now whenever I go I can look more closely at them to see things like individual lights, how figures are carved and for things like paintings and it really changes how you see art once you intern as an art student. Once you’ve put effort in skill you can actually look at artwork in a museum and think “I don’t know who that artist is but he had really extraordinary skills”. Athens is nice because, if you want to be a tourist and see cool things you don’t really have to leave the city because they have like everything here. There’s the Archaeological Museum, they have actual ruins, they’ve the Parthenon, they have a museum for everything.

Hello. My name is Mariia. I am from Ukraine. I am a physiotherapy student. I study physiotherapy in the Netherlands. I was required to take a few weeks of internship, so I’ve chosen to come to Athens, Greece. I am very happy with my staying. I found it very helpful. I’ve seen many interesting things, for example, I was allowed to observe surgeries in surgery rooms and that was a life changing experience. So, hopefully, you would enjoy it too. The Cerca agency is helpful. If I had any question or if I had a requirement regarding my internship they would help. I communicated with them easily. For example, I wanted to see more surgeries and that would be coordinated easily. Generally I enjoy my stay in Athens. I’ve been to some Greek islands and I am planning to visit some more after finishing this program. So, I think you would enjoy it here too.

Hello, I am Driti Patel and I come from Morehead State University in the United States. I chose the medical internship because I want to go into the medical field. I am studying to be a doctor with a goal to be a pediatrician one day. My experience here was great. I loved it here. The departments were all nice. My favorite was the OD department; we got to see amazing surgeries. The coordination here was nice, we were able to find everything nicely. The place we were living in was nice. It was close to our internship placement as well. I loved Athens. It was a great place, a very beautiful city. The internship is great as well as the tourist areas. It’s all amazing. I do recommend it.

I chose this internship because I wanted how medicine is first time really and be able to get myself into it, walk along with the doctors and how the experience would be and when I am actually to be a doctor. My experience with this internship, every opportunity I was given it was absolutely amazing and brilliant and something I never had thought like I would be doing in less than a few years, because of Covid actually. I loved it. The coordination of the program was brilliant. It was amazing. I got to see some cool surgeries. Athens was great, I would definitely come back again. Yes, it was a great time. Hi, I am Irine, I am from Ontario, Canada and I am nineteen years old. I am majoring in biology and I chose this program because I was interested in the medical field. I wanted to experience the workplace and how things get run around the hospital. My experience with the internship was amazing. We got to learn a lot from teachers and even surgeons. I really loved to see the OD department and be able to see so many great surgeons. I got to see an open heart surgery the other day. That was a life changing experience. The program was coordinated extremely well. Where I was staying was very pleasant. It was great to communicate back and forth to my working place. The tourist areas were so nice to explore. I would definitely recommend coming to Athens. Whether it’s for the internship or just for tourism. It’s a beautiful place and I will definitely come back.

Hello, my name is Naomi Shah and I am from America. I study biology at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. I chose to do this internship because I thought that it would be a great opportunity to get a lot of hands on experience. Especially since dentistry interests me and I wanted to pursue my passion for it. I was able to see a lot of new techniques and surgeries and luckily I had the opportunity to shadow a pediatric dentist as well as a general dentist. So, at my time with the pediatric dentist I was able to see how treatment with surgery with children is really different to with adults. Specifically things that the dentist paid attention to and there was something that I really enjoyed, especially considering the fact that I am doing my md in pediatric dentistry; it was really a great experience. And then, with my time with Dr Costas here I was able to see many interesting treatments like root canals, implants, how to take impressions, cyst removal, a lot of cool things and he was able to teach me a lot of terminology and the tools he uses. So he was showing everything as he treated the person, which was very informational and helpful for me. I am overall so happy with my experience with Cerca Abroad. I would totally recommend it to anyone that is considering it. I had a very seamless transition and the managers were willing to help me the whole time. Before I came here they gave me a lot of information. Once I got here they were always willing to help, so I am really glad I got to do this. Overall I am even happier I got to do it in Athens, since the city is so lovely, the people are so nice, there’s so much to do, the food is great, so definitely enjoyed the program. Thank you.

Hello, I am Isabelle Lu from Taiwan. Currently I am studying wildlife at the National Taiwan University. The reason I wanted to come to this internship program is because we don’t have a lot of wildlife in Taiwan and I really wanted to get to know that. Also I wanted to get this chance to travel and explore and try to get along with myself. Somehow I’ve met with a lot of school friends here. So I’m really grateful for this program. For me the highlight of the program is actual conservation of wildlife. There are a lot of wildlife animals and birds like seagulls, flamingos and a lot of falcons, owls and everything. I had to prepare for them, take care of the cages and try to help with the vet. The people of the program are all very warm. They were always there to answer my questions with patience and try to teach me more. So, this is more than I expected. For me the coordination is like, awesome, because since I was still in Taiwan they would check on me and when I have sent a lot of messages asking a lot of random questions such as what I should bring with me, they would always answer the soonest possible. As for my arrival in Greece, they started to check on me in a weekly basis as about my wellbeing, how do I do, how the program’s doing and everything. And when I decided to travel they wanted to meet me in person which is very great. I’m very grateful for that. In my perspective I think that Thessaloniki is a very cute city. The people there are always so wonderful and I met some of them in the street and we became friends. I also like the view of the host in Thessaloniki, you never feel alone even in the night. I really loved those historical sites and the food there. Since I am a vegetarian it is hard for me to find food randomly in Taiwan but it’s so easy here and everything is so delicious.

Hi, my name is Shivani Setti, I am from Calgari, Alberta, which is in Canada and the University of Calgari. The reason why I chose this program is because the opportunity of working in this hospital, the experience that I got to seek in this hospital and physically get to view the operations, being able to talk to some of the patients here and also the experience of how other hospitals work in other cities and countries. I think that the program was really nice. How friendly everyone was and how it was really easy to communicate with others even despite the language barrier. I liked it how easy it was to use the trains here and how accessible everything is, like, in one block there are like coffee shops. It’s really nice. Even the apartment that we got to stay was really nice and convenient. It was really close to the hospital. I just had to take the train and come here. It was really nice. The city of Athens was also very beautiful. It’s a shame I came here during the winter time but for where I come from this is really warm. I didn’t even have to wear winter jackets, which was really nice. The city has a lot of history and diversity which I really enjoyed and I felt comfortable and I enjoyed my stay here. Concerning the program that I was part of, I really enjoyed it, I would definitely come back if I had the time. When I have time to come back, I would come to Athens through this program and gain more experience working in this hospital.

My mane is Suhani, I am from Calgari which is in Alberta, it’s a province in Canada. I went to UBC which is the University of British Columbia, I went to Okanangan Campus and I graduated in 2021. I chose to do an internship here at Iasis because I have a medical undergraduate studies in microbiology and I decided that I wanted to go into a master’s in ? counselling. So I have a biological and genetics bicrobio background that I really wanted to get more counselling and psychological and sociological support background. A little bit more exposure to counselling and that area to help bridge those two departments to help me in genetic counselling because you are working with healthcare which combines both those fields. So, when I was looking for opportunities, unfortunately there are not as many hands on or shadowing opportunities in the region that I’m from. Especially around Calgari because of the way, but there are other volunteering opportunities. So, when I was looking for options, I decided to look abroad and I found this particular internship. What I really liked about it, is that it allowed me to learn about different sides of psychological and sociological support, systems that are available internationally, in different cultures, this has been my first time in Greece and Athens, so I was able to learn a lot about the culture, the people, how diverse it is. I did not realize how diverse Athens is. I mean how populated it is compared to where I am from. We have a fraction of the amount of people that we do here in the city. There were a lot of similarities that I’ve noticed as well because I was born in India. So I’ve visited Mumbai and Bangor many times throw-out my life, so there are a lot of cultural similarities between Indian cities and Athens, I have noticed. So I think it was easier for me to adjust, get used to the city life, the transit, the people, the communication style. It was also very helpful, a lot of people spoke English here, so I think that people here in general are very open, kind, and very expressive I’ve noticed. It’s very different to where I am from. Some things that I’ve found interesting during my internship is- because I don’t speak Greek- I had to rely a lot upon non- verbal ques so a lot of facial expressions, social queues, things that I would not necessarily be able to tell based on the language but looking on inflections and the way that people are speaking rather that what they’re exactly saying. Also I’ve had support with other interns and volunteers who were able to translate for me, but at the moments that I was unable to I feel like you can learn a lot based off of how people behave. Based on social ques there. The way they interact with one another and other volunteers and other social workers and psychologists here, I could see the changes from the beginning of a group activity towards the end. For some people there was like an increase in their mood, they were more social towards the end, they felt better, whereas for others it was like a gradual progress. It was very settling. You have to be really paying attention to their social ques to really see the difference, but it was noticeable. Another thing that I found very interesting is the similarities and the different types of psychosocial support that is available here and in Canada, so things like CBT, group activities, I’ve had to deal with mood, social ques, social skills, some of similar group activities like having an exercise component in order to deal with the psychological side of mood but then also have like talking within a group, introductions, styles of activities, the questions, the work, which are very similar to group activities that I’ve seen in other psychosocial support groups in Canada. So I thought that was really interesting, how despite being miles and miles apart- completely different country and culture- a lot of the practices, the types of support are very similar, it’s very applicable because at the end of the day we are all humans. We all need very similar things. I am very happy with the internship coordination here. They were very accommodating. We got lots of support. If I had any questions I was able to ask. Get direct answers very quickly as well. So I didn’t necessarily feel like thrown in the middle of nowhere. That was very helpful. I really did enjoy my stay here, I think that people in general are very helpful. If I got lost or if I had questions about certain things that I didn’t really understand what was going on, I could just ask and then there was no fear and no judgment- at least none that I could perceive. Hi, my name is Monica Coleman, I am a senior biology engineering student hailing from South Carolina but I attend school at the North Carolina A&T State University. I chose this internship in dentistry because I am highly interested in the dental field. With being a student it’s really hard to shadow with student hours and I thought this internship would have helped me in to get a more in depth view with dentistry. There are plenty of highlights. I got to see lots of fascinating cases. Every day was different. I learnt so much. My doctor was very in depth and explained a lot of things that were not clear for me before. So, I think I am leaving this internship with knowing a lot that I didn’t know before and I think it’s going to be very helpful in the coming years. The coordination was great, everyone’s super supportive, you would always get help from your Cerca Abroad team, your doctor, the other interns, and everyone has been super supportive. Even in Athens itself everyone is super nice like- you’ll be fine. The biggest highlight of Athens for me would be the food, like, everything is great. I have discovered souvlaki- it’s so good. If you come to Athens try the food, try the bakeries, there are coffee shops everywhere. That is so great. Everything about Athens is great. Its small, everything you need will be within distance, it’s a great city.

My name is Eniola and I am from Houston Texas and I go to college at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. I interned at IASIS in Greece and I choose this internship for many reasons. One reason was to get out of my comfort zone and immerse my self in Greece and to see how the psychological system is done here compared to the States and elsewhere. During my time here I have learned a lot, I learned different units, how they operate, for example the Fabric Republic and how they make cloths and distribute cloths for the community and also how they set up different sites for people to donate it, so its actually more of a community participating to help the community, which is very nice to see. I have really enjoyed my time here, I enjoyed the coordinators as they gave me a nice place to stay, which was very safe and they also gave me a map with tips which I was able to use to explore around, which helped my immersion because I was staying here for one month so having that really helped me get to it right out of the bat. Over all my experience in Athens Greece was amazing, the weather was nice, the people, the culture, the food was all just wonderful. I enjoyed my time here and I do plan on coming back here just here for the visits and just to go back to see all the sights that I wasn’t able to see.

Hi everybody, my name is Kjell, I am a student from Belgium, I am twenty two years old and I decided to go abroad with Cerca to visit this place- this one over here (Athens Medical Center Group)- in Athens. It’s been my pleasure to have been able to get a whole new experience with both my studies, the language and to go to run in this place. I’ve been here for about two weeks now and I have to say it has been very fun for me to experience, well, a whole new dimension of my studies. I got to see surgeries being done, patients while before and after the treatments and in this way it allowed me to grip or get a new view on everything I’ve been learning so far. I mean, it’s been very enjoyable.

Hi, I’m Ainsley, I am from Alberta Canada and I wanted to do a medical internship because I am really interested into going to medical school and the human body and just helping people in general. The organization is great, they take you everywhere you need to go and make sure you know exactly where you are supposed to go or supposed to be doing. Organizing the accommodation, all that was perfect and made you feel less lost coming into a different country. Athens is beautiful, it’s so clean, and everyone is so nice including the doctors. They want you to be involved and they talk to you and they are interested into where you’re from and who you are. It’s great.

Hi, my name is Maddy, I am from Utah, I am a pediatric medical assistant. And I chose to go into the medical field because I love helping other people and this experience has been incredible. I’ve loved it everywhere, especially surgeries. I got to do orthopedic surgeon down here and I loved it. I also got to go up to the nursing floor and would meet with some of the nurses which I also really liked. This whole organization was really organized. They have picked me up from the airport up to my apartment. Everything at the hospital was organized too. I got exactly where I wanted to go and they were all very nice about it. I love Athens, I love Greece, I will move here when I’m older- I loved it so much. I went to Mykonos and if you go to Athens you have to go to Mykonos. Have a good weekend. I just loved the whole thing, Ive loved everything about Greece.

Hi. I’m Ella Glover, I am from Coastal Carolina, I am a major in science, so that’s why I chose this internship. It’s allowed me to watch live surgeries, follow daily protocols. Personally my favorite surgery was a knee replacement since I am hoping to work either as a surgical doctor. Overall this experience went on very well. Everything was very organized. I always knew where I had to be. Well, Athens, I loved this city. It couldn’t have been a better city in order to experience this medical internship.

Hi, my name is Jessica Escobar and I am from Los Angeles, California. I did the medical internship here at the Metropolitan General Hospital. Overall the experience was amazing, I got to see so many different surgeries as well as being in many different departments that I wouldn’t have necessarily known about if I didn’t do it here. I thought my highlights of this full experience was definitely being in the theatres downstairs, in operating rooms, seeing orthopedic surgeries as well as cardio surgeries, neuro surgeries- they do it all here. It was amazing to see, witness, even being able to scrap in, in some surgeries. Overall, the coordination through this program was amazing, from the airport pickup to even the drop off at your apartment with your fellow interns which honestly made it amazing. Because you aren’t alone, you had your interns that you have to work with every day and, other than that, you’re also in beautiful Athens. So there’s a lot to experience and see. Obviously all the tourist spots but it was nice for you to go with your roommates as well. So, go to work also have some fun. Overall this experience was amazing. Personally I did it for medical school since I will be applying for the next cycle hopefully getting in. Meeting a bunch of top surgeons here has really elevated my medical application, so I would definitely be getting some letter of recommendations from multiple doctors here. So, if you’re thinking about it, just do it. This program is amazing.

Hi, my name is Bri, I am a student at Coastal Carolina and I am a biology student and I want to be a surgeon. I came here because I wanted to gain personal experience I got to shadow a bunch of surgeries and a bunch of clinicals which has been so useful for what I want to do in the future. My favorite part was getting to watch a breast cancer tumor removal, since it’s exactly what I want to do, I got to see the whole process here and how it works. I thought it all went out very smoothly, I was where I needed to be and I loved Athens, my favorite part was the food. I would recommend it.

Hi there, my name is Ava and I am from Canada and I am winding down on my two week experience here in Athens through Cerca Abroad. So, for the past two weeks I have experienced a variety of different procedures, materials in a different way and just techniques to be good at expanding in four different degrees of cases as well as a variety of outstanding cases and sometimes very jaw dropping cases. Besides that, my experiences here have been phenomenal, the dentist and the entire staff here have had a lovely sense of humor, they’ve been extremely polite and I was encouraged to pose many questions. And the patients have always been coming in and out with big smiles on their faces and they’ve been very polite and very welcoming. So, outside of the program, I’ve had the opportunity to experience coffee shops, as well as some breathtaking views from roof tops and sometimes even the other students were also too, so it’s all been a lovely experience. From start to finish you feel extremely welcome, you are well taken care of, it’s very smooth, fluent, and if anybody has any interest at all in the program I would definitely recommend it from start to finish it’s been a phenomenal experience. I’m hoping to pursue a career in dentistry as well, it’s been my first chance to actually sit for a long period of time to shadow one dentist and it’s been a phenomenal experience. I would recommend it to anybody. If you are a little bit shyer this is definitely a really good place to start. Overall this has really heightened my experience and my ambition to pursue dentistry. And so, again, I would recommend the program to anybody.

Hello, my name is Joseph I will be 22 years of age at the 20th of April and I am currently studying a bachelor at mechanical engineering at the University of Oregon Australia. The reason why I am completing this internship is because I must complete twelve days of industrial training in order to graduate from my University in Australia and to finish my degree. I also really love travelling and so I decided to do both at the same time- travel and complete my internship. That way I experience the best of both worlds. I also chose this internship as I was really interested into the program it has to offer. During the first couple of weeks I had to familiarize myself with the mechanics, in a way to better understand their function and mechanical features. This was important as the main task of the internship was design of marine drones and then printing a model on the 3d printer. I also spent some time flying this drone in order to better understand the way they function. This is modelled in 3d printer. It was modeled through the use of software and printed with the 3d printer through the ?. My free time consisted of a wide variety of activities and adventures. I visited many beautiful and historical locations in the city. Then I went out to explore locations outside Thessaloniki such as Volos and Mount Olympus. During the second half of my internship I also had the time to visit Istanbul, Turkey for four nights. My accommodation was also very comfortable and safe and all my needs were attended through during the entirety of my intern. I didn’t exactly face many issues. However when I struggled with a task assigned to me, my supervisors would always attend to my needs and provide me with feedback and positive criticism. This helped me to ensure that I would complete my task with minimum obstacles and with great success. I would also like to thank ? and Vassilis for being great mentors throughout this entire internship and also to thank the professors for their help when I needed it. Also a big thank you to Cerca Abroad for providing me with this internship opportunity.

Hello, my name is Alyssa and I am from Florida, United States and I attend the University of Florida. I chose to do this internship because as part of a requirement for my degree on University, but I chose this internship specifically because I am interested in wildlife conservation. I was able to see and do many interesting things during my time here. I was able to release three different species of birds successively. I was also able to see releases of different wildlife species. I was able to see different veterinary procedures and I was also able to see different species of birds I wouldn’t normally see in Florida. I am very happy with the coordination from Cerca Abroad. They are very helpful and through any questions I had, very quickly. I really enjoyed staying in Thessaloniki. It’s really a beautiful city and everyone’s been so nice that I’ve met. For me personally, this internship has provided me with the ability of being in many different surgical departments, so I’ve been able to go and rotate in different surgical specialties, such as general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology and plastic surgery. So, I was able to learn from many different surgeons, doctors and the nurse were amazing. They taught me a lot. I’ve been able to get a better grasp to which medical specialty I’m interested in. So, that’s been really great for me. I’ve even had the ability to see different cases, so that’s been a dream come true for me and I would like to thank Dr Dimitris because he practically participates in the medical techniques so that’s been really great. In terms of Athens and Greece itself, the country is beautiful, there’s not much more you can say about that. The people are amazing, the food is great, I absolutely loved the culture. It’s been so fun exploring the city by myself. It’s been very fun contacting the locals, the coordinators of this program have been amazing, I’ve had no issues, they’ve even been able to answer all of my questions and that’s been amazing. So, I think that in terms of recommendation I would reference this program to anyone who’s interested in medicine as a physician, physician assistant, physiotherapy or even nursing, this will be a great opportunity for you to get some hands’ on experience. So, I’m very happy to have followed this internship.

Hello, my name is Eleni, I am in a medical internship here at the Metropolitan General Hospital in Athens Greece. I am a premed major in Boston Massachusetts and I’m here doing this internship in order to build my resume for medical school and to get an interesting experience here in Greece, also because my roots are here in Greece- I am heritagely Greek. So I chose Greece to come here and experience a different side of medicine. The company here did a great job of orientating us to come to the hospital and meet other students from the U.S. and other parts of the world, as well as meeting the people here inside, the hospital and other people who work there, like in the O.R. and other specialty areas. And then, here in Greece, I’ve been a few times before but throuout my internship I’ve been able to enjoy different islands such as Corfu and Mykonos and Paros which were lovely areas in the country, and as well as other parts of Athens in the inner city such as Monastiraki and Plaka.

Hey I am Anna, I am from Brentwood, South Carolina and I go to Clemson University and I am studying biology there. I chose the medical internship because I wanted to get more experience with doctors and like following around, and this was the perfect thing to do and it was in Greece so I chose it. My highlights from the trips were definitely seeing surgery, I love orthopedics and now I am thinking about going into it. My favorite parts about Greece were definitely the nightlife and the sights were really cool and I loved just getting around and exploring the city.

Hi, my name is Mallory, I am from South Florida. I wanted to do a medical internship as I wanted to gain some more hands on experience and also see how things operate outside the U.S., in other countries. The coordination to the program was really good, the people were very nice, it was safe and nicely accommodated. Our program was really nice. It was nice to have roommates; it was a lot of fun. A highlight from my medical internship was definitely seeing a face- lift, I’m really into plastics, and we were able to decide kind of where we wanted to go. I really liked Athens, it’s overwhelming at first but you kind of get the hang of it. Makes you feel very independent. My favorite thing here was going to Santorini; it was a incredibly enjoyable.

Hi, my name is Samarah Alam and I am from Virginia. I am a student at the University of Central Florida. I wanted to do this medical internship because I love the medical field and I really want to get like into the medical field as medical life is and really get to see all the different specialties and the different doctors and surgeons and all that. I think a major highlight of this internship is getting to know on a personal level the relationships with the surgeons and getting discover all the surgeries and really getting the feel of what it’s like to be a doctor or a surgeon. The program was everything that we needed and more. They took us up from the airport, they were always in contact with us and helped us with everything out so smooth. I think my favorite part about Greece is just, everywhere you go is something even more beautiful than the last thing you saw. It’s amazing. Everybody is nice here. The food is delicious and there are so many islands that are so easy to get to and they’re even prettier.

I chose this program just to gain some more exposure and try to understand a medical system outside and away from my own country. The opportunities I have been given here are so great. I’ve got to see incredible surgeries, meet some great people. Everybody here has been so nice, the coordination has been incredible whatever we need they are really a text away, so if you feel unsafe, don’t. It’s been super safe here. My favorite part about Greece has been the food and there’s also so much time to explore the area, so much to do. So, you’re in for a good time. I definitely recommend it.

Hello, my name is Audrey Narhi. I am a second year University student from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I chose the medical internship because I really wanted to experience a healthcare system outside of the U.S. I really wanted to relate it back to the U.S. so in my future career I can really have a broader understanding of healthcare in general. My favorite part about the medical internship was definitely working with the University here. I really loved seeing facilitator in a different setting other than in the U.S. I am a nursing student so I took that very personally. The doctor was very nice to explain everything. Coordination wise I felt very comfortable and coming into this. When I got off the plain I was very nervous but I had a driver there waiting for me and then when I got to my very nice apartment I was happily greeted and I really felt at home quicker than I thought I would. Athens, Greece in general, is absolutely beautiful. The medical internship gives you enough time to really explore the city and outside the city- take day / weekend trips. So, there’s a very nice balance of doing your solo travelling, meeting people to travel with as well as gaining an experience for your career. So I would highly recommend. Thank you.

- Hello, my name is Peter and I am from Hong Kong. I study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong medical school. - And I am Lisa and I’m also studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and I am also here for medical studies. - So, we came here for this medical internship because we wanted to learn more about medicine in general and to get a better grasp on medicine and the surgical aspects of medicine. Also, to look onto the different culture and different hospitals in Greece and look at the differences between Greece and Hong Kong. - Yes, for me, I wanted to look at the different specialties and get to choose between different career choices, like to see what it is like for different specialties and I think it was good to see the difference between the healthcare system in Hong Kong and Greece. - So, some of the major highlights of this experience would be seeing cardio treatment for the first time and as long as entering into the operation room, we would be able to see things which we wouldn’t have been able in Hong Kong, such as the OGDs, the formation of fistulas was also quite interesting and we’ve seen one finished and one in progress of being done. - And for me, I liked the lab because it is really interesting to see how the cavitor is inserted into the body and see the difference it’s making. So this is a precious chance to see surgeries. I would never have the chance in Hong Kong. - As for the accommodation, it was very nice. The apartment was large, it was clean and it was very convenient to come from the apartment to the hospital. It was like a twenty minute journey I think. There were a lot of super markets nearby. There was very good support from all the staff and also the hospital staff. Any questions we had would be answered very quickly and we were very happy to visit. - As for Athens in general I think it’s one of the most beautiful cities and we have been to different tourist spots and I took a lot of pictures there. Everything good is generally quite regular and we’ve found good food when we would go into the restaurants were really great when we have stayed in Athens. Everything was just fine.

Hi there, I’m Kelly, I am from Sydney, Australia and I chose to do this medical internship because I wanted to better my medical knowledge and be able to experience the hospital environment to a closer and more detailed extent. As I am an undergraduate medical student in Australia Sydney, this experience helped me be able to get to know the hospital environment a lot better as well. So, some of the highlights of the trip include being able to really see the vast experiences of the doctors are having in this hospital. We were able to go to clinics in one week- and that would include things like neurology, cardiology- and we were even able to visit the emergency room for a couple of cases as well. It was really interesting. Apart from that, we were also able to have a lot of time in the OR, in surgeries as well. The surgeons there were very lovely and very wonderful. In particular, yesterday we had a vascular surgeon who was able to show us the case and talk us through everything that was going on, and show us on the screen and on imaging where each particular vein. So it was all a really great experience. Other than that we’ve had amazing experiences with other specialties as well. For example orthopedics, plastics and also general surgery. So, overall it was a really great experience to be able to see all these different specialties and how they interact with each other. Also how they were able to welcome patients and better their care and give them the best possible outcomes. In terms of the communication by this team, it was really wonderful in helping me with all my questions. Before the trip I was unsure about some certain things and I didn’t hesitate at all to send them emails and questions and they were very lovely and quick at responding. So, if you have any hesitations about coming on this trip, just send them an email, ask them any questions and they will be very quick to respond and they will be really great. In terms of doing the trip they were also very lovely with all the organization. From with the first day there, they will actually take you to the hospital themselves and even from the airport, they had a driver who is able to pick you up. So, there’s no concern about safety at all and also Athens is a very safe place. So overall I really enjoyed this trip. Athens itself is beautiful, in Australia right now it’s actually winter, so it was good to escape to Athens where it’s very bright and sunny- it was really great. So, if it's winter where you are, then definitely come over during the summer, and overall, also, being able to meet these lovely interns- there’s heaps of other interns that you can make friends with during the internship as well. I made some really close friends from all different parts of the world, especially the US and the UK - but also from various other countries- and we became really close over the course of the trip so I would highly recommend it.

Hi, my name is Ishmia and I am from Dallas, Texas. I am currently attending the Philander Smith College as a pre-med student. I choose this medical internships because I love to help people and I want to make sure that what I know affect the lives of others. The hospital Metropolitan General has been the highlight of this trip the faculty and everybody that is here, the doctors are all so nice and willing to teach us and everybody is willing to learn. My favorite part was actually the surgeries. Cerca Abroad has been beyond helpful from the moment that we got here up to, really, departing! They make sure that your adjustment into the Greek culture is a smooth transition. My favorite part of Greece has been seeing Mykonos on my first weekend and just walking around seeing the beautiful landscape.

The accommodation here was amazing, I stayed at a beautiful apartment and everything was made ready for me. The hospital was very nice and the people have been very understanding with everything. Athens overall was such a beautiful city. I loved it here and I would definitely come back.

Hi, my name is Brooke, I am from Los Angeles, California, in the U.S. I just finished my undergraduate with premed. I chose to come to Greece because it is so beautiful. I’ve loved traveling all around here, having seen all the islands and the beaches. But also because I was getting a lot of the exposure that I wasn’t able to get in my country. For example I was able to sit in on a lot of surgeries that I wouldn’t be able to in America, so that has been an amazing experience for me. Some highlights would be traveling, riding a moped, seeing Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, traveling through the city, that has been amazing. I’ve made some really close friendships here as well, and the food is also very good to eat. In matters of coordination they have been great, everyone has been super helpful. they’ve been nearby when you needed them- gladly we had not really need them on this trip, but they would be very happy to help and easy to talk to. So, it’s a bliss.

My name is Mahen and I am from Vancouver, Canada. I am an engineering student from the Langara College. I chose this biotechnology internship to gain transferable laboratory skills and some exposure to active work. I believe this internship would help my career as an aspiring bioengineer. During my time here in this lab I was able to see various lab procedures that are used in industry and academia. Some of them being DNA extraction and PCR. Other than that, Thessaloniki is beautiful during the summertime and the view from the white tower cannot be missed. Time flies by here. With the arrangements made by Cerca Abroad, I was mostly happy. Just be ready to have some off line time. There will be times when you may need to disconnect from everything and soak in the experience. I found the city to be really accessible, so this made my experience very nice. Everybody is friendly here and you won’t find any trouble finding the things that you need. If you’re confident, you can make your experience one of a kind and unforgettable.

Hi, I am Jamie, I live in Western Australia, I am English, I go to the University of Western Australia. A major in neuroscience. I chose to come to Greece to do this internship for a lot of practical experience which I think will be very valuable for the future, as I am preparing for applying for the medical school. I saw a lot of really cool things here at the Metropolitan General. I think the biggest of all was surgeries, which was very cool. Some of the cardiology units and neurology as well for me. I was impressed by Cerca Abroad, they are very accommodating. They took me from the airport to the accommodation and they’re just in general very helpful, which obviously is good. Athens in general was fantastic. I really enjoyed going to the Acropolis. Monastiraki with the markets there, where I got some presents for friends and family back home. I also went to a lot of museums which is something I have enjoyed. I went to some of the pubs which is quite cool. There’s some really delicious street food which is really positive. I think that’s mostly it. I would definitely come back.

My name is Tahnee, I am from Mexico City. I’m twenty five and I’m studying psychology at the Open University in Madrid. (As I could ? today ? Erasmus plus) to be able to do my internship and my practices that are mandatory for me to be able to finish University and I chose Greece because I believe it is a very interesting country and in some ways it is a little like my country, so that’s why I thought I could fit in Greece. And I did, I really liked it. I really like the program and Iasis in general. I think it’s a very interesting and well founded organization. I am very pleased with everything that I’ve learnt. Even if it was in a different language, some things, I felt like really everyone was very welcoming and yes, I really liked it I am really grateful with my mentor Eleni. I am also very grateful with the whole team because I’ve actually learnt, I realized that I’m really studying the right thing, because of my practices so I’m really happy. I encourage anyone to come to Iasis and get to know everything they do because it’s a very big, interesting organization. So, I’ve experienced many interesting things during this internship but I think for my field of work which is psychology and as I said, it was very interesting to be able to have very close contact with clinical population and I’ve learnt a lot about them and I think I realize that I want to continue working with people with mental health problems. I am very pleased about the program, the people I’ve met and about the diversity of different nationalities and volunteers they have. The activities were really interesting to me, like Greek dances so I’ve learnt a lot about a culture of the world which was a good adapt to my internship. I am looking forward to come back.

So, I chose to do this internship to learn more about the healthcare system in Greece and get an experience with working in a hospital with doctors and surgeons. So, my name is Landon and I’m a computer science student from San Francisco, California. I just do this internship because the title was really interesting to me. I like working hands- on with electronics and this was the electronic vehicles and drones program. So, I was able to learn a lot about programing and all things related to flying drones and staff like that. So, the first week was me recording a lot of videos and getting to actually fly the drone myself and then I programed a facial recognition software for the drone and a couple of other features that it’s not even designed to be capable of doing. So it’s been really fun getting to learn a lot of those things. Also, the city was really beautiful. I really enjoyed the food and the professors really helped me out, telling me places to go and stuff like that. On weekdays I had got time to get my own schedule. I’ve had a lot of personal freedom with the program. And then, also the weekends I got into to go and explore more areas of Greece myself. So overall I would really recommend it for anybody to come here and check out the lab. There’s a whole bunch of stuff. I got to use the 3d printer for the first time and you can see the drone back here, some other underwater drones that some of the other interns are working on. So it’s been really fun and I would recommend it.

Hi, I’m Ankita, I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I go to school at the University of Pittsburgh. I chose the internship to go abroad this summer because I’m going to graduate school in a year and I wanted some real life experience in something other than the US About my internship, it was really interesting being here, I am at the Iasis day center, and we don’t really have something like a Day Centre back home in the States, so it was really cool to see a psychiatric work that occurs outside of the country and how it occurs in different locations. I am right now in Athens Greece and I’m doing my internship with Iasis as I said before, and I am so happy with the coordination from Cerca Abroad. This experience is something like, I never would have thought I would be able to go through a helping with group therapy and help with planning activities with patients and having a one- on- one connection. It’s just so incredible. I love staying in Athens Greece- that’s where I am currently located. I think it is so fun here and there’s so much to do besides just working. There’s just so much like fun staff I can do on the weekends and during the week days and everyone here is just so kind and generous.

Hi everyone, my name is Isabelle Joffe. I’ve currently just finished my last year at Adelphi University and I’m starting dental school in July. I decided to do his program to just get a better understanding of dentistry before I start my dental school journey. I’ve loved working with the doctor here. He was amazing and extremely educated in his craft. He showed me so many things I haven’t seen before. He even let me drill on a real tooth. He showed me how to prep a crown and do a routine and all that staff- it was so awesome. The Cerca Abroad staff was amazing. On Whatsapp, someone is always there. You can text them any second and they will respond as soon as possible. I also loved Athens, it’s so beautiful here, the people are amazing, the food is amazing, the metro system is really clean and accessible and I just loved my whole experience here. I would recommend it to anyone.

Hi. My name is Ajay and I’m from Vancouver, British Columbia and I chose this internship because it was about flying drones and electric vehicles and I’ve always had an interest into things that fly, and eVs of course. I’ve picked this internship to learn more about drones, building eVs manufacturing processes and had some real life experience. During my internship I had the chance to work on small aerial drones and I was given the task to put some sensors on it, to make some readings to make these drones smart. Alongside, I also got the chance to work on the auto here, I enjoyed my time working on it and I learnt a lot on the way. The professors and the Cerca Abroad people were really helpful. They accommodated and helped me a lot whenever I had any problems. The city of Thessaloniki is really nice, The people here are really nice, the food is great, people are great, I’ ve had a lot of archaeological places to visit. There are a lot of things to do on the weekend and I would definitely recommend someone to once come here. This place is awesome.

Hi. My name is Erin, I am twenty two years old, I am from New Jersey, US, and I am currently working my master’s in mechanical airspace in Rutgers University and I am here for four weeks during my Cerca Abroad engineering program. I chose the Cerca Abroad program in Greece because when I was an undergraduate I have studied abroad in Rome and ever since I have wanted to study abroad back in Europe. I was looking for an engineering program abroad because it’s what I have always wanted to be doing for my degree in engineering. So I’ve been for two weeks here so far, and each day I’ve been working on a different project. First week I’ve been working with another intern on 3d mapping and building on campus with a drone, so basically we’ve drawn a bunch of pictures of the building with a drone so that we can use the software to create a 3d map of the building. We used that 3d map for an analysis of the roof of that building to look for different areas of water damage. The second project I’ve been working on has been building a drone. Again with other interns we’ve found the design of the drone and 3d printed the parts before making adjustments to the design and then we worked on wiring with the electronics. So we have basically been working on manufacturing this drone, It has not been completed yet but almost done. So I’ve lived close to the sea in Thessaloniki so I’ve been able to walk in different places, there’s so many things to do. I occasionally found myself going on walks by the water. There’s a pathways that I loved walking on. There’s also a port with a boat that can take you to beaches so I;ve been doing that. I;ve done that last weekend. Thesaloniki has actually many things to offer and I feel super safe and I’ve met some other interns who are students at the University I’ve been going and have fun and go sightseeing. So, this program to me has been really great all the advisors and directors are super nice and really welcoming. The only thing that I would wish that more women would apply to programs like this. There not so many women, especially in engineering, so it’s been great to work alongside with other women.

My name is Zuzana and I am a final year student, studying Tourism at the University of Economics, Varna. My family owns a small hotel in Bulgaria and I wanted to invest time in the industry and learn how a large hotel works. I interned at the Golden Coast hotel in Greece for 8 weeks, at the peak of the touristic season and I learned so much! It really makes a huge difference not only comparing theory with practice but also seeing the scale of operations in such a large hotel. The experience has already equipped me with new ideas on how to improve our little family hotel back home and I am very great full for this. During free time I was able to either use the hotel's sports facilities or explore nearby islands. Cerca Abroad has been great, being there for me from the applications stage till I departed.

Athens itself is a beautiful city. The whole experience has been lovely. The people are lovely. The roommates have been great. The accommodation was very well set up. I go to San Diego State University and I chose this program because I am fulfilling a physiotherapy and I believe that the physiotherapy program here is good and I chose Greece because it is an area I’ve never explored before. I am Abbie and I just finished my Bachelors degree in West Texas A&M, entering the vet school in the fall. I joined the internship here at Attica Park Zoo, for just for 4-weeks, one month and I am staying in Athens. I am here for about 2 weeks now, half way through, and I love it and I got to do a lot of different veterinary things. I have seen all kinds of veterinary things on animals, anything from darting animals with vaccines, sedating them and performing surgery and performing autopsies. The apartment that I stay at is really nice, it’s a one bedroom and it has anything you need to be by yourself. I got a lot of support from the zoo and the people from the program. I got to explore Athens and went sightseen from the Acropolis to Mt Parnitha and got to see wildlife in the zoo and in Athens

My name is Oren and I am from Australia. I also lived and attended school in Chile and Canada before finishing my high school education in the UK. I have been exposed to different wildlife ecosystems and cultures and I applied for this experience to boost my training and future career. I love animals and the natural environment is where I feel most at home. I selected to join the Marine Conservation program for gaining experience in wildlife and environmental conservation and overall, to develop a life goal of working in worldwide conservation efforts. I worked at the Archipelagos in the island of Samos, Greece on the Marine Mammal Conservation program. Typical tasks included cetacean/ monk seal/ sea turtle presence & behaviour recording, photo identifications and passive acoustic monitoring through boat-based surveys. I also worked on anthropogenic activity assessments from fishing. During this time I improved my social and teamwork skills and learned much about the importance of conservation in wildlife and the environment. My hosts & organisers were amazing and so friendly, making me feel at home. Staying in Greece is such an unforgettable experience. The food is fantastic, people are easy going and I loved spending my free time at the beach.

Hi, I’m Jada Forbes, I’ve come here to study physiotherapy from the US. I chose my internship because I felt like I wanted to do something to help people, healing people and caring for people but I didn’t think I wanted to be a surgeon or like a medical doctor or anything, I just wanted to help people recover from surgery or recover from whatever they’re suffering from. As for highlights here, I was in the ICU care unit and I absolutely loved it down there. It was so cool to wear the robes, the gloves- it’s so cool. Also in OR I’ve seen knee replacements, that’s why I’m upstairs dealing with the physiotherapist. They are usually dealing with that stuff to help them recover and walk. Doing exercises and things like that. Another highlight, probably has been with my physiotherapist I think is the hardest. I love his, he is so helpful. Any questions that I had, I just asked and he explained along the way. He loved teaching and made jokes and was very sweet. For coordination I definitely think Cerca has open arms. Any questions I needed – one time I got lost, so I texted them and they were there in a matter of seconds. So, they gave me all that I needed, like to the metro, to the bus, just getting around here they made it really easy and just made it feel very close to talk, very comfortable being here for five weeks. Hi, I’ m Elias, I am from Edinburgh in Scotland. I chose Cerca as part of my University elective. I am completing my Master’s, so I’ve been working in healthcare for a number of years now, but I thought this was a great opportunity. It’s quite rare, I think, to find a place where it has both a great clinical aspect as well as a great place and great people. But I think this is what really attracted me to this program. I’ve walked around the world in many different countries, I’ve done many electives overseas and, like I said, generally you find a nice place or a nice hospital. I think Athens is the perfect mix of both to be honest. It’s an amazing city, so much to do in your time off- great two weeks.

My name is Logan I am from Oklahoma, I go to Oklahoma State University and I study biology premed. I wanted to do this internship so I can build my resume and get a more hands- on experience within the medical community. The best part of the internship for me was going to the hospital and see all the surgeries. It was very interesting to actually see and kind of get-to-do a hands on experience with that. It’s just something that I would never get to do in the US, as I have to guess. The actual program was run very well, I had a really nice apartment, the metro is very easy to use and the hospital staff was great. Athens in general is such an amazing city, it’s so beautiful, the history and the culture is so rich. I really loved to see the Acropolis and it was all very nice. It was a great experience.

Hi, I’m Summer Traub and I am going to the University of Iowa. I did the dental internship here in Athens for three weeks. I got to work with an amazing dentist. He explained what he was doing as he was working with patients, which was very helpful to my learning. I got to see a variety of things from basic cleanings to extractions and I also got to observe the different techniques that the dentist got to use. Here in Athens I loved getting to make personal connections with the dentist and the patients who I got to see who had multiple cases through my time here. Outside of the internship I loved getting to explore a new culture and the city and the islands that I got to travel at the weekends. The city is amazing, there’s so much to do. It’s a very safe place. If you plan into interning abroad I definitely recommend going through Cerca. They have great accommodations even from the airport pickup to the apartment I was staying at and even to getting me used to the metro and the tram helping me to find my way to the clinic on the first day.

Hello, I am Megan Baxter, I am from Virginia and I go to the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. I chose Athens, Greece for my medical internship through an internship abroad because the experience it gave me and I’ve never travelled outside to the world nor had I seen the medical practices in Greece, so it was really interesting to see. I got to stay within a twenty minute metro ride and it was super fun. I have stayed with a couple of girls from other internships and it was really cool to see what they got to experience as well, and I know they loved it just as much as me. Also, I got to see the Acropolis, I got to see all around Athens, try the amazing food and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn’t seen the world or whether it’s psychology or medical. They offer so much. You couldn’t have a better experience than this.

Hi, i am Tom , i am from London in the U.K . I currently study physics at Imperial and i am finishing off my degree. I am thinking of applying for medicine next year and continuing all my higher educations to become a doctor. I decided to join Cerca Abroad because it would give me the opportunity to, basically, have a look at all the different specialities that are on offer and see if I would be interested into working in any of them and as a doctor at all, because i want to be very thorough and take care of my decision. The highlights of the experience, I would say, I particularly enjoyed being in the operating rooms. Like, it is an amazing opportunity and experience in that they would literally allow you to watch any operations going in the operating rooms, which is something that not many students in the U.K have access to. So, you can literally ask if you can have access to the operating room and observe. The doctors are very friendly as well. They would talk to you , they would guide you through the surgery , even me as a physicist with my lack of medical knowledge, they would still talk me, giving me their time of day. Which i didn't expect at all. So, these were really good aspects of the experience and i had some really friendly , welcoming people on the way as well. They would make sure that i was introduced to the surgeons and stuff like that. So, yeah, i really enjoyed that aspect of the experience and in particular that. When it came to the coordination between myself, Dennis and George's and Cerca Abroad in general , i felt that it was pretty good in general, as we knew what we had to do. Like when we were picked up from the airport on time, like the keys, the sort of organization about our housing and stuff like that-the organization and that was all very smooth and seamless. So, you know, good job there i suppose. So, as well as the medical aspects of the internship , I really enjoyed getting to know Athens and Greece in general. As in like, the city is historic . It has the Parthenon in the center. You really feel the weight of the history . It has a very nice vibe as a city. I particularly enjoyed exploring the Plaka and Psiri touristic areas. The buildings are beautiful, you know. I used to enjoy walking around with the other interns, so we got off to know each other. So, yes!

Hi, my name is Casey, I come from Brooklyn, New York, and I am currently pre-dental so I decided to do this internship to get a look at what being in a dentist’s office feels like. I’m working with many people to see different techniques and see how different patient relationships are introduced. One of my favorites is to see the different techniques they use in Greece. Especially with the materials they use, make crowns and all the different ways that they implement their studies versus how the United States implements their way of learning their dentistry and using our patients. And I love Cerca Abroad- it was super easy- they picked me up from the airport, our accommodation was ready for us and there was always someone there at the counter to ask how you’re doing and anything that you need at the moment. Athens was gorgeous, we got a metro pass and went to see the whole city. Everything is within a 15 minute walk away or a 15’ train right away, so it was accessible and beautiful here. Hi, my name is Lydia, I am from Kentucky in the U.S. I decided to come here, to Greece, simply because I have not visited here before. I wanted to do psychology because my major in college was speech language psychology, so it’s related to behavior mindset and brain therapy, so I figured that working in a general psychology workplace would be really helpful for me. And it was. I worked teaching beneficiaries who had multiple disorders such as schizophrenia, ADHD, and multiple personality disorders, bipolar disorder etc. and we were able to implement activities and work with them, while I also learnt Greek and teach them English. It was a very good experience. I’ve never experienced something like this before. As far as living in Greece, that has been even more life changing than anything I’ve experienced before. Living in a city- I come from Kentucky, which is a little more rural- so I’ve never taken the metro before. I usually have to drive my car everywhere- here I did walk- and that was a really learning experience, needing to get to work every day. Also, everyone around us was speaking a different language. It was interesting using our non- verbal communication like facial expressions and gestures to communicate with people around in public- even at work. I was able to meet a lot of cool girls. My two roommates are from Texas and California and it was really nice to bond and go to work with them. We’ve developed really good relationships. They were helpful and easy to communicate with. It’s just been a phenomenal time. I’m going to miss it. I wish I could go back.

I’ll start with my coordinators – they were always willing to advise myself and the other girls places to visit around Athens. My airport pickup was swift and my apartment was cute and the perfect size for me. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hospital and 15 minutes from the metro station. By far the best part was meeting the two other girls in the program, we instantly clicked and are planning to meet again in the next coming months! It was crazy that they were both from the west coast as well. As far as the program at the hospital went, I spent my days either in cardiology, radiology, surgery, hepatology, internal medicine, physical therapy or neurology. It was great to get a glimpse of the physician’s day to day procedures while learning some more Greek! Most of the doctors were super caring and welcoming. My favourite specialities were surgery and neurology; I could really see myself pursuing a career in neurology! I met the BEST doctors in neurology and the machines to diagnose the disorders were fascinating. I truly learned so much the last two days of the program, and I observed a case with a brain tumor and consulting neurosurgeon. Super cool. In surgery, I saw some amazing procedures (hip replacements, Da Vinci GI procedures, rotator cuff repair) and the surgeons were extremely kind and explained everything. Overall, I had a really great time on the days as physicians were willing to teach and entertain conversation, plus the other girls I met were a huge bonus.

My internship experience has been great! I felt comfortable talking to my supervisor and my team and I communicated well despite the language barrier between us. I was very impressed with the level of commitment from my supervisor and internship placement. Upon receiving my very first task, I could see that they were well-prepared and organized, and were ready to answer any of my questions and concerns. The most important task I was involved in was report writing, and other skills that I learnt along the way included communicating with clients. My internship experience went a long way in developing my time management and communication skills. All these skills work in both the short term and the long term, as the long-term goal of the organization I was paired with was to build multicultural relationships and gain expertise from other countries, so I helped in expanding the knowledge and expertise of the company in this regard. I am currently training to be a consultant in the field of occupational safety and health, and now I am qualified in terms of my degree, and my practical experience from this placement.

My internship experience has been full and rich. I was given tasks by my supervisors, whose patience made me feel respected and motivated to speak up when there was something I did not understand. In the future I want to apply technical skills to solve practical issues, and in this internship, I was able to use open-source software Ilastik and imageJ, as well as the programming language Python to perform image analysis. I now feel more empowered in my field, as I was pushed to learn new software I previously believed would be much too hard to master. This internship has allowed me to familiarize ideas of machine learning and strengthen my computational skills, which will prove incredibly helpful in my future development. From here, I have a desire to further strengthen my understanding and ability of machine learning, searching for more learning materials and seeking more internship opportunities.

In the meeting with my coordinator for my virtual internship in cyber security, we laid out everything for me to accomplish. We had multiple weekly meetings and remained connected throughout, sending messages when online meetings were not practical. My role as a virtual cyber security intern had a focus on encryption and helping an organization to secure data, which is vital for every organization in our modern world. I found it interesting to conduct research on ROUV’s and learn more about them and how they function in the world of cyber security. Everything during the remote internship went as planned and I definitely gained more experience in conducting research and presenting my findings to others. I also learned more about the coding language Python and received more hands-on experience with it. My favorite take-away from my remote internship was overcoming all the challenges that were put in front of me with hard work and dedication. I feel more empowered in cybersecurity work now because I know I can now actually do work that is required of me when I get a job. I am majoring in cybersecurity and homeland security and before this internship, I was slightly apprehensive about how different school work would be from real-world work. However, this internship allowed me to get the experience I needed to understand how real-world assignments work.

I have learnt so much about how to measure and assess different types of stress in crops, such as weeds or drought. This will help with my long-term goals of having a career in sustainability, whether that be sustainable resources or water management, or even climate sustainability. The hands-on research I have done with software will allow me to better understand other versions of software that may be used when I begin my career, and will also allow me to suggest new methods of GIS assessments. The role I had in my internship was to research, learn, and use different software and sites and then write a report on whether they are worth using, their costs and benefits, their ease of use, and how they aided end-users. This role benefited the organization as it allowed for other employees to work with clients more efficiently and could potentially lead to them adopting software that will allow them to communicate with their clients and collate data more efficiently. I feel more empowered in my field because I have gained a lot more of an understanding in researching software that will be relevant to my future career plans, and I now know what may be expected of me when researching and writing professional reports on the relevant software and the data they generate.

I choose a physiotherapy internship for two weeks in Athens and got to see many cases, some from famous local athletes and got to see surgeries right next to the operating table! Even though my internship was short I got to see a lot of cases and everyone was eager to explain and show me stuff. I got to stay in a modern apartment very close to the hospital and with my flatmates had a great time on our free time.

I had a three week shadowing experience at a Greek hospital which allowed me to see all specialties and discuss with doctors and medical staff about procedures and see surgeries and gain a broad and deep perspective of the medical field. The program helped me confirm my desire to specialise on cardiology and I am panning to have another internship specifically at the cardiology department after a couple of year in med school. Everyone there was very helpful and had an excellent time exploring the city

I interned at the Metropolitan General hospital in Athens over the summer for 6 weeks and I got to spend a lot of time in each department and gain a broad perspective of how a hospital works and the everyday life of a physician's assistant. I spent 6-8 hours at the hospital Monday to Friday and had the weekends to my self to travel. Throughout my internship the organizers took care of everything and answered all my questions making me feel confident of my trip. I definitely learned a lot and had a great time in Athens and planning to return next year to explore the rest of the country!

I was extremely impressed by the hospital staff and how they spent time with me to create a shadowing schedule focused on physical therapy and in other departments relative to it like orthopedic surgery etc. I got to learn a lot about the Greek healthcare system and develop personal relationships with the medical staff. I had an amazing time with my fellow interns and we got to explore Greece in our free time. I highly recommend the program to anyone interested in shadowing doctors whether they are pre-med or med students.

I spent 4-weeks in shadowing doctors in Athens shadowing at multiple departments. The most amazing experience is standing next to them as they performed surgeries! This program confirmed my interest in Medicine and helped me pinpoint the specialty to follow. With the other interns in my group we had the chance to explore the city in the afternoon and travel to nearby touristic spots and the islands over the weekend. I had an amazing time in Greece and the site coordinators were there to help us in every step of the internship.

My main role during this internship was to observe, learn, and ask questions about dentistry. I was able to shadow a general dentist, oral surgeon, and prosthodontist at the clinic. Some examples of procedures included general cleanings, crowns/bridges/dentures, implants, root canals, and tooth extractions. I was also able to learn about new technologies within the field, including guided implant placements. Since I do not currently hold any professional dental certification, tasks were not able to be performed on the patients. However, I was able to help out with operatory setup/clean-up, and sterilization. I was able to witness a variety of dental procedures and understand how dentistry in Greece varies slightly from dentistry in Canada. All of this knowledge and experience has helped me to solidify my career aspirations within dentistry. Some specific skills include dental terminology, and interpersonal skills/patient-professional interactions. My favourite memory was being able to witness an abutment placement (for a dental implant). This was the most complicated case I had seen thus far, and my supervisors explained everything and answered questions, while performing this procedure. After completing my internship experience, I now feel on a personal level, more mature and responsible. Travelling on my own in a new country has been an eye-opening and welcome experience. Furthermore, I now feel more confident in my interactions with others. I gained a wealth of knowledge from my two weeks of shadowing and solidified that this path is what I want for my future career

I enjoyed everything in the internship - it was 100% worth it, I learned a lot and met new people that were amazingly helpful. From day one, I was made to feel like I’d always been part of the team. They taught and helped me in all ways - I honestly cannot find any substandard points to comment on, because this team gave me everything they could. I found that the locals enjoyed each moment by assisting you with happiness, which made my adaptation to the placement easier. I got what I expected from this internship, as it helped me to improve my own skills, while learning new skills that can help in the future. The doctors taught me how to deliver the ideas of the treatment to the patient, how I should communicate with patients, and how to implement a treatment plan (from the first step, through till the final step). This is going to help in my future postgraduate studies, because treatment plans are so important. My favorite memory from the internship was when we helped a patient by replacing his posterior teeth. This memory will stay with me for a long time, because it made a huge impact on the patient’s quality of life.

I joined the 4-week pre-med program in Greece in July 2019 and I had the opportunity to shadow of up to 40 hours a week with doctors, nurses, surgeons etc. We were placed in a private hospital with doctors trained in the US or UK and got to see them operating high-tech medical equipment. Our hospital supervisor rotated us through all departments and this gave us a sense of direction into what we want to follow in our medical career. It was overall an amazing experience and a unique opportunity to shadow medicine and learn about the healthcare system of another country. I definitely recommend everyone who wants to get medical experience to participate in this program. In my free time I was able to go and explore Athens and the nearby islands. It was so beautiful that I am planning to return back to Greece and explore more and certainly see again all the doctors that I shadowed with!

I learned what it is like to be a physician every day and I got to rotate in all the hospital's departments and gain a solid perspective of my medical career path. The coordinating team were very organised and they made us feel at home. Athens is a very safe city with so many things to see and do.

I conducted my Medical internship in Athens, Greece, in a top private hospital with cutting-edge technology. It was one of the most impressive organizations I have ever seen in healthcare. My internship role as a medical trainee was to assist doctors during their clinical activities and to observe them during surgery and endoscopy. My favourite memory from my internship experience was the prostate biopsy that the urologist let me perform under his supervision. It was a challenging, important and new experience. I also had the chance to observe one of the best hematologists in Europe at work, they were an amazing supervisor, teaching me a lot! As a medical student, this internship supported my long term goals, as I gained a lot of new clinical and hands-on experience, while also further developing skills I already had. Everything I learned during the hospital internship placement will be useful in my future career as a clinician. It will also help me to complete my medical degree.
