Program Overview

May 31st - June 7th

Develop a practical understanding of coral reef resilience and restoration through an immersive field course at CCMI’s Little Cayman Research Centre. Located just meters from the reefs within the Bloody Bay Marine Protected Area, CCMI is ideally located for students and researchers looking to gain hands-on experience.

Combining ecological theory with hands-on training, students explore how reef ecosystems function, respond to disturbance, and recover through targeted management interventions. Through extensive in-water training, classroom sessions, independent research, and active participation in coral restoration, students gain real-world experience in one of the Caribbean’s best protected reef systems. This course encourages collaboration through group work and presentations.

During this course, students participate in multiple snorkel and/or SCUBA dives per day (including boat and night dives). Students also gain exposure and the chance to contribute to CCMI’s active coral restoration programme (coral nursery).

Snorkelers and scuba divers are accepted for this course.
