Saddle Up for Conservation offers volunteers the chance to experience the African bush from horseback while actively supporting conservation efforts on the ground. Based on a private wildlife reserve next to Kruger National Park, the program focuses on practical daily activities such as fence patrols, snare detection and removal, wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching presence rides, and assisting with horseback trails across the reserve. Volunteers work closely with horses while learning about the realities of conservation in unfenced bush environments where wildlife moves freely. With only a small number of participants at a time, the experience remains personal, immersive, and hands-on rather than touristic.
