Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tanzania safe, and what support will I have while I’m there?

Your safety is a priority. You’ll receive pre-departure guidance, an airport pickup, secure accommodation with private security and 24/7 in-country support. Our local team coordinates placements and included travel, while providing practical guidance on transport, culture, health, nightlife and living safely in Tanzania.

You will also be a part of a group of young people, and Tanzania is a very safe and peaceful country, visited by millions!

What is included in the program fee?

Almost everything! Your fee includes Europe return flights, visa, airport transfers, private-bathroom accommodation, daily meals, placement fees, Level 3 Diploma, training, Academy workshops, weekly adventures, cultural activities, safari and 24/7 support.

The 12-week program also includes a 4 day Zanzibar holiday!

No Sunday lunch, Vaccinations and Travel Insurance as this needs to be done by the individual.

What does the 12-week Academy involve?

Your 12 weeks combine a consistent Women’s Empowerment internship with Global Citizenship education, personal development, Swahili, cultural learning and a partner-led Legacy Project. Around this, you’ll experience weekly Tanzania adventures, social activities, safari and Zanzibar while living alongside your international Academy cohort in Arusha.

Why is the flagship program 12 weeks?

Time allows you to move beyond being a visitor. You can build trust at your placement, understand the local context before trying to contribute and develop a genuinely useful Legacy Project. It also gives you time to complete your Diploma, travel Tanzania, develop personally and experience what living abroad actually feels like. A 6-week Fast-Track is also available.

Do I need previous experience?

No professional qualification is required for this pathway. What matters most is maturity, empathy, cultural sensitivity and willingness to learn. Your role will reflect your skills and the organisation’s needs, with opportunities across education, entrepreneurship, life skills and childcare. Confidentiality, safeguarding and appropriate boundaries are essential. We model this on a Scandinavian Folk School concept.
