Childcare & Early Education | Global Citizenship Diploma
Spend 6 or 12 weeks in Arusha, Tanzania, combining hands-on early childhood education experience with accredited Global Citizenship learning, cultural immersion and adventure. Work alongside Tanzanian educators in grassroots early learning centres, supporting children aged approximately 2–6 through play, creativity, early literacy and numeracy, language development, movement and social learning. Rather than replacing local teachers, you’ll provide additional classroom support while gradually building the relationships and understanding needed to contribute meaningfully. Beyond placement, explore ethical volunteering, education, culture, sustainability and community-led development, alongside personal growth, Swahili, cultural workshops and a collaborative Legacy Project shaped around your placement’s needs. Your Academy experience also includes weekly adventures, cultural experiences, African Safari and, on the 12-week program, Zanzibar, shared with an international cohort. Complete the requirements to earn a Level 3 Diploma in Global Citizenship in Community Development alongside valuable international experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Tanzania safe, and what support will I have?
Your safety is a priority. You’ll receive pre-departure guidance, airport pickup, secure accommodation with private security and 24/7 in-country support. Our local team coordinates placements and included travel while providing practical guidance on transport, culture, health, nightlife and living safely in Tanzania.
You also travel as a part of a group! Tanzania is also a very safe and peaceful country visited by millions annually.
What is included in the program fee?
Almost everything! Your fee includes Europe return flights, visa, airport transfers, private-bathroom accommodation, daily meals, placement fees, Level 3 Diploma, training, Academy learning, weekly adventures, cultural activities, African Safari and 24/7 support. The 12-week program also includes Zanzibar.
No Sunday lunch, Vaccination and Travel Insurance as this needs to be arranged by the individual.
Do I need childcare or teaching experience?
No previous teaching or childcare experience is required. You’ll work alongside Tanzanian educators rather than replacing them, with your responsibilities developing as your confidence and understanding grow. An open mind, creativity, patience and genuine willingness to engage with young children are the most important qualities.
What does the 12-week Academy involve?
Your 12 weeks combine a consistent early childhood education placement with Global Citizenship learning, personal development, Swahili, cultural workshops and a partner-led Legacy Project. Around this, you’ll experience weekly Tanzania adventures, social activities, safari and Zanzibar while living with your international cohort in Arusha.
Why is the flagship program 12 weeks?
Time allows you to build genuine relationships with children and educators and understand your placement before trying to contribute. You’ll progress from learning and observing to greater involvement and a meaningful Legacy Project, while having time for your Diploma, personal growth, cultural immersion and travel. A 6-week Fast-Track is also available.
