The University of Manchester, a member of the elite Russell Group, consistently ranks among the top 40 institutions in the world. The present university was created in 2004 by the amalgamation of Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Home to over 40,000 students, it ranks as the 23rd most international university in the world. Manchester maintains a commitment to accessible, inclusive, and international learning that is blended and flexible. An urban campus with a lower cost of living than London is of great appeal to international students, who also benefit from Manchester’s reputation for academic excellence. It’s an experience in a big city in a distinct part of England, with one of the largest libraries in Great Britain, an active Students’ Union with over 200 clubs and societies on offer, and other cultural amenities, including an art gallery, museum, and theater, along with access to thriving music and sports scenes. Manchester has particular academic strengths in theology, life sciences, psychology, fashion retailing, education, pre-law, and engineering.
