While the Maasai culture generally draws thousands of tourists to Tanzania, its people don’t benefit from the industry. In fact, Maasai women are economically weak. This is why a local nonprofit, ILKDNGA, runs programs to improve economic conditions. ILKDNGA has developed projects run by Maasai women to generate sustainable income. They train in the design and creation of traditional beads, crafts, clothes, and other products, which are then sold in the market. Volunteers help through the following activities: - Teach bead or craftwork techniques and designs - Teach English to women as well as the local kid...
