What inspired you to work for Meiji Internships?

What inspired me to work for Meiji Internships was the opportunity to put my English communication skills that I learned from college into practice. At Meiji Internships, English is commonly used to connect international students from all over the world. Also, being able to interact with people from all walks of life and different backgrounds is another factor. Lastly, I find great pleasure in matching students and international companies because I am indirectly able to positively influence the intern’s life as well as benefit the host companies.

How can Meiji Internships contribute to a student’s future?

Interns reap endless benefits from international internships. International work experience will prove to be a valuable addition to their CV and will indefinitely set them apart from the rest. Moreover, an international internship experience will build character as well as confidence in the individual. With a positive attitude and the willingness to learn, every student will take away valuable life skills that will apply in their future or daily lives.

Who is an ideal candidate for Meiji Internships?

Anyone who has a hunger for self-improvement and eager to step out of their comfort zone is an ideal candidate for Meiji Internships. Also, if you are interested in broadening your horizon with an international internship and immersing yourself in a different culture, you’ll be a suitable candidate.

How has your role with Meiji Internships contributed to your future?

Meiji Internships have contributed to my future in many ways. First and foremost, business skills would be my biggest takeaway. I had the opportunity to interact with companies from many different countries and industries. Interaction is key here as I ensure to identify the needs of the company and the student’s goals to find a suitable match. Problem-solving has also proven to be one of the skills I’ve picked up during my time with Meiji Internships. While undertaking a variety of different tasks, keeping a calm mind when a problem or issue arises and finding the best possible solution is one of my responsibilities.

Why should students choose Meiji Internships over competing opportunities?

I personally feel that Meiji Internships provides a more personalized experience for interns and students. We take pride in providing the best internship experience for interns, thus we take the time to understand the needs of the company and find a suitable match with students of similar goals.

What skills can students expect to come away with after interning with Meiji Internships?

First of all, students will develop independence. Being away from home, students will be able to experience living abroad (first time for many). It will be an eye-opening experience for many as living abroad will undoubtedly mold them to be more independent individuals. Students can expect to be immersed in Asian culture as well as develop themselves personally and business-wise. Interns will also be able to partake in networking events that will be beneficial to their career development.

"and where are you from?"

What is your favorite aspect of Japanese culture?

Personally, as a Japanese, my favorite aspect of Japanese culture is our respect for other individuals. In Japanese culture, the hierarchical society is based upon mutual respect. We place particular emphasis on the respect of privacy and respect distinguished elders. This teaching is something I like to pass on to international students who are doing an internship in Japan or other Asian countries.

Why is it important for people to travel abroad and experience new cultures?

An international internship can be your first step to traveling abroad alongside experiencing new cultures from a different perspective. Interns will also be able to take away life-changing work experiences as well as the confidence to work in a foreign country.
