What inspired you to travel abroad?

I’ve always been drawn to the idea of exploring new cultures and expanding my horizons. The thought of living in a different country, fully immersing myself in a new language, and experiencing life from a different perspective was incredibly exciting. It was more than just travel; it was about challenging myself, stepping out of my comfort zone, and growing both personally and professionally. Moving abroad allowed me to blend my passion for teaching with my love for adventure.

Why did you choose TEFL Madrid Academy?

I chose TEFL Madrid because of its outstanding reputation and the promise of a 100% job placement guarantee. The program offered comprehensive training that not only prepared me to be a skilled teacher, but also provided a strong support system throughout the entire process. What truly set them apart was their dedication to ensuring every graduate secures a teaching position. The feedback from past participants was overwhelmingly positive, and I was impressed by how TEFL Madrid’s team genuinely cared about each individual’s success.

What was your favorite part about Madrid?

Madrid captivated me with its vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere. The city is a perfect blend of historical charm and modern living, making every day feel like a new adventure. I loved the warm, sunny weather, the lively streets filled with music and laughter, and, of course, the incredible food. Whether I was exploring the art at the Prado Museum or enjoying tapas at a local bar, there was always something new to discover in Madrid.

What made your experience abroad extraordinary?

What made my experience extraordinary was the combination of the incredible people I met and the support from the TEFL Madrid team. The friendships I formed with fellow teachers and locals alike enriched my time abroad in ways I never anticipated. Moreover, the program's unwavering support, from the initial training to securing my teaching position, made the whole journey smooth and enjoyable. It wasn’t just about living in a new country; it was about becoming part of a community.

How did the local program staff support you throughout your program?

The staff at TEFL Madrid went above and beyond to ensure I felt supported every step of the way. From helping with the initial paperwork and visa process to offering ongoing professional development and mentorship, they were always there when I needed them. They provided valuable insights into the local culture, teaching techniques, and even tips for adapting to life in Spain. Their dedication to my success made a world of difference in my experience.

What's one thing you wish you would have done differently during your time abroad?

If I could do one thing differently, I would have made more of an effort to learn Spanish before arriving in Madrid. While I picked it up fairly quickly once I was there, having a stronger foundation would have made the initial transition smoother. It would have also allowed me to connect even more deeply with the locals and fully immerse myself in the culture from the start. Nevertheless, it was a valuable lesson that added to my growth during the experience.

What was a typical day like for you in Madrid?

A typical day in Madrid started with a morning coffee at a local café before heading to the school where I taught English. My classes were a mix of children and adults, each presenting its own unique challenges and rewards. After school, I’d often meet up with friends or explore a new part of the city. Evenings were spent grading papers, planning lessons, or enjoying Madrid’s vibrant nightlife. Every day was filled with learning, both in and out of the classroom.

What did you enjoy doing in your free time in Spain?

During my free time, I loved exploring the various neighborhoods of Madrid, each with its own distinct character. From the historic streets of La Latina to the bustling Gran Vía, there was always something new to see. I also took advantage of Madrid’s central location to travel around Spain and Europe. Weekends were often spent on short trips to nearby cities or hiking in the surrounding mountains, allowing me to experience the diverse landscapes and cultures of the region.

What was your accommodation like in Madrid?

I stayed in a shared apartment with other teachers from the TEFL program, which was an incredible experience. The apartment was centrally located, giving me easy access to both my workplace and the city’s many attractions. What I loved most about the accommodation was the sense of community it fostered. Living with fellow teachers provided built-in friendships, and we were able to support each other both personally and professionally throughout our time in Madrid.
