What inspired you to work for Centro MundoLengua?

I had the great chance to study abroad for one academic year, which has been my best experience ever. In our global world, I firmly believe that everyone should study abroad at least once in their life to experience other cultures, and to grow both personally and professionally, and I’m glad to be working at a place that encourages this.

Describe a typical day at work.

Each day at Centro MundoLengua is very different! I normally start work at 9:00 am by checking/answering my emails. Then, I work on different exciting projects: website design, marketing campaigns, organization of trade shows, community management, etc. Each day, I also love to spend some time chatting with the students to make sure that their experience is just perfect!

During my workday, I also share a lot of time with my amazing colleagues. The company culture here is excellent, which is probably why our students are so happy!

Why do you do what you do?

It is really rewarding to be part of an educational project that helps people to broaden their horizons, develop their confidence, make lifelong friendships, learn about themselves, increase their professional prospects, and grow personally!

Also, our activity here at Centro MundoLengua has a positive impact on the lives of many local families and small businesses. It is a real pleasure to work for a company that makes customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction their number one priority!

What is your favorite part of your job?

There are many things that I love about my job! I will highlight two of them. One of them is the chance to interact daily with students from all over the world. It is a very enriching experience!

Thanks to my job, I also have the chance to travel a lot. Up to now, I have traveled to Berlin, Aix-en-Provence, Washington, Montreal, and even Quebec!

How do you use your education and international background in your current role?

In my job at Centro MundoLengua, I have to speak English and Spanish on a daily basis. Without my academic year abroad in the United Kingdom and my internship in Spain, I wouldn’t have been able to speak fluently in both languages!

My experiences abroad also helped me to better understand cultural differences, gain confidence, independence, and essential life-skills—all of which are essential to my current role.

Nowadays, most companies are international. This is why having a marketing degree is not enough. Speaking foreign languages and being able to understand other cultures is a must for recruiters!

Exploring Sevilla with our students!

Why should someone choose Centro MundoLengua over competitors?

Centro MundoLengua is a company with a very personal touch. We care and we personally get to know each one of our students. Our team is available 24 hour a day for them in case anything happens. We personally help out if there is any problem. For instance, I accompany students to the doctor to make sure everything is fine.

At Centro MundoLengua, we also care a lot about our social responsibility. We give many scholarships to students and teachers who otherwise could not afford to study abroad!

What is your organization's mission and how do you continue to work toward it?

Our mission is to bring the language and culture of Spain to the world. We aim to make the experience accessible, regardless of a student’s background. Indirectly, we want to promote education and very important values such as tolerance, global citizenship, multiculturalism and respect for others.

In order to achieve our mission, we support many exciting projects, such as Teens of Color Abroad, that seek to close the gaps that exist between students of different backgrounds. We also collaborate with many local non-profit organizations, where our students can volunteer and grow personally.

What do you hope participants take away from your programs?

Lifelong friendships, a greater knowledge of different cultures, open-mindedness, personal development, Spanish language skills, new career opportunities, and above all, an unforgettable experience they will cherish all their lives!

If you could participate on one of your organization's programs, where would you go and what would you do?

I would go for our gap year program in Sevilla, Spain! With this program, you have the chance to volunteer with a local NGO, giving you a great opportunity to give back to the local community, to help people in need, and to gain work experience.

You also have the chance to immerse yourself in the Spanish lifestyle by living with a Spanish host family, and by participating in many cultural activities organized by us. You can discover the fascinating history and monuments of Sevilla with many outdoor lessons and we also organize many excursions to discover Spain, and even Morocco or Portugal.

Spanish classes are included too to practice your Spanish! This is a very comprehensive program that allows you to travel differently, responsibly, and authentically!

Why do you think learning a new language is important?

Professionally, you will be definitely more employable. It is also very good for your academic standing. Personally, you will be able to make friends from everywhere, speak with locals when you travel abroad, develop your confidence, and more!

Learning languages is good for your health, too!

Many studies say that learning a language improves your memory and prevents diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

What advice do you have for individuals thinking about going abroad?

Do it! Don’t think twice! It is time to put your fears aside. I promise you: you will cherish this experience forever! I would also advise you to choose a study abroad provider with a human touch who can provide authentic and meaningful experiences.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

For me, meaningful travel means travelling mindfully. It consists in being a traveler and not just a tourist: meeting local people, exploring off the beaten path, supporting local businesses, helping the local community, etc. In a nutshell, living a true and authentic experience like the ones we provide at Centro MundoLengua!
