Observe and assist local physicians and nurses in hospitals and clinics across locations such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Chitwan. You will gain exposure to a broad range of medical departments including general medicine, paediatrics, maternity, emergency care, and community health. All work is supervised by local healthcare professionals and follows strict local regulations. Your typical tasks include shadowing doctors and nurses, observing consultations and ward rounds, supporting patient care under supervision, assisting with basic procedures when allowed, participating in outreach or mobile health clinics, and more. Because independent medical duties are not permitted without full qualification, this placement is best suited to pre-med, nursing or medical students seeking observational clinical experience. This program is ideal for compassionate, motivated volunteers who are at least 18 years old, are studying in a medical or health-related field, or are qualified health-care trainees. You should have good English skills, a willingness to learn about medicine in a low-resource setting, and a respectful, adaptable attitude. Previous clinical experience is not required.
