Adventure Travel in the Hawaiian Islands

Join us this summer for some sun, sand, and sea turtles as we explore the Hawaiian islands! From vibrant Honolulu to laid-back Maui, this program covers some of the best highlights of Hawaii, including beautiful waterfalls, postcard-perfect beaches, and plenty of adventure! Spend some time learning about sea turtle conservation and participate in several projects to protect the endangered hawksbill sea turtles. Projects include snorkeling and reef surveying, nest watches, night patrols, and watching over sea turtles as they bask on the island’s beaches. Plenty of adventure will complement our service projects. Zipline through lush jungles, walk through bamboo forests to waterfalls, hike to the top of a volcanic crater, take a surf lesson and more on this incredible journey to discover the best Hawaii has to offer!

ARCC’s Western U.S. Gap Semester provides access to some of America’s most beautiful and remote landscapes ranging from the jagged peaks of the Grand Tetons to the depths of Utah’s most spectacular canyons to the expansive deserts of Arizona and the dazzling turquoise waters of Hawaii. Explore some of the most pristine wilderness of the West and partner with local conservationists to understand threats to native species, ecological systems, and our waterways. Building upon our 40-year history of running domestic programs in the U.S., this semester provides hands-on opportunities and access to areas usually unavailable to the everyday traveler. The newfound insights gained from this in-depth look at some of the most famous landmarks of the American West leave our perspectives and appreciation for our own backyard changed forever.

Why pick one paradise when you can have two? From kangaroos to coconuts, this program is the ultimate mix of thrill and chill. Kick it off in Australia with surf lessons on the Gold Coast, SCUBA diving the Great Barrier Reef, climbing the legendary Sydney Harbour Bridge, and rafting the tropical Tully river. Along the way, discover Aussie culture in Brisbane and Sydney, from endangered koalas to the iconic Opera House. Just when you think it can’t get better, fly over the Pacific and relive a day in Hawaii thanks to the International Date Line! You’ll snorkel in crystal waters, surf the waves on Waikiki Beach, and experience an authentic Hawaiian luau under the stars. Led by incredible leaders and shared with new friends, this small-group teen travel program is all about big adventures, unforgettable moments, and living life to the fullest.

A true tropical paradise with breathtaking nature, stunning views, world-famous white-sand beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, and incredible biodiversity—Hawaii is a dream destination for young people from all over the world. This exciting adventure program will take our students to some of the best destinations on the Hawaiian islands, introducing them to one of the most diverse and most awe-inspiring ecosystems in the world. They will marvel at the natural beauty of Honolulu – washed by the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean, with colorful seaside villages, and some of the world’s most spectacular beaches. Students will learn about Sustainability, Biodiversity, and Aquatic Ecosystems in a fun and engaging way, based on our Experiential Learning Method. They will also participate in community service projects with our Hawaiian partners, protecting animal habitats and fighting deforestation, sea pollution, and climate change.

Over three weeks, participants will explore the stunning natural beauty and cultural heritage of Hawai‘i, gaining a deep understanding of the islands through a combination of dive training, field research, and exciting practical activities. You'll delve into the history and language of the Hawaiian people, explore the incredible biodiversity of the islands, and immerse yourself in the cultural traditions that have been passed down for generations.

Your trip to Hawaii won't be complete without hitting the waves. Learn how to surf with our beginner-friendly lessons, offering up to 2 hours of instruction in private, semi-private, or small group sessions. With safety as our priority, our experienced instructors will be there with you every step of the way. We'll be surfing at the famous North Shore, one of Hawaii's best spots for beginners. Our lessons cover everything you need to know: reading the waves, surfing manners, timing, and standing up on your board. Our instructors will make sure you're comfortable, even giving you a push to catch your first wave. Whether you're new to surfing or want to improve your skills, our lessons promise a fun and memorable time in the water.
