  • Description

The teaching programs take place in Kathmandu and in several other areas of Nepal and in both public and private schools. Besides English, volunteers are needed for subjects that include mathematics, science, population and environment, art, history and music.

Volunteers in Nepal will not just teach academic subjects, but also organise creative activities, as well as lend their experience and enthusiasm to extra-curricular activities. The age range of the pupils is from three to sixteen years. The local teachers will also benefit from the volunteer's native English-speaking skills.

Should school holidays fall within the placement period, alternative activities will be arranged for the volunteer in Nepal, which may include learning Nepali language, culture and tradition, or visiting places of interest. A teaching qualification is not a requirement, but the volunteer's must have completed secondary education.

  • Highlights

    * Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organisation that provides fun, rewarding, safe and affordable volunteering opportunities in developing countries around the world.

    * Since Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organization, it is one of the most affordable ways to help out in a developing country while being immersed in the local culture.

    * Volunteers are accommodated with a host family This enables the volunteer to become a part of the culture. 2-3 meals are provided daily.

    * Volunteers are greeted on arrival at the airport and a welcome gathering is usually arranged for new volunteers. Orientation is spread over two days and is based at our partner organisation's office in Kathmandu. Orientation includes a visit to the placement location, an introduction to your host family and a tour of Kathmandu which has a rich 2,000-year-old history and yet a somewhat cosmopolitan feel..

    * On each of the programs an approximate schedule is as follows: 4-5 hours work per day, six days a week, working from Sunday to Friday. Depending on their project they will either start work in the morning, or have several hours free before starting in the afternoon. In the evening and Saturday, volunteers in Nepal are free to see the local sites, visit restaurants and cafes, and meet the locals.
