Doing the TESOL training in South Korea was such a beneficial experience! It really helped me transition into the culture within the safety of a group, before being thrown into the deep end. It was a lot of fun, with lots of relevant cultural training, helpful support from the XploreAsia team, and studying the TESOL course with a group of fun, hard-working people. I feel much more prepared for my job having done the TESOL course in-country than I possibly could have been if I studied online. With proper in-class teaching experience, as well as interacting with Korean people daily, this is probably the most prepared I could possibly get before entering my own classroom. I'm very excited about the year ahead, and I would highly recommend taking the TESOL training in-country, if possible.

South Korea isn't my first abroad experience, but my first ever post-college job experience. That being said, I have grown in my professional capabilities and learned more about living abroad as this was the first Asian country I have ever been to. Getting used to the culture wasn't difficult at all. I wish I had had more time to explore on my own though I understand this is difficult to obtain since a 120 hour course in three and half weeks is time consuming. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward to my placement.

I always wanted to go abroad, to work and make memories simultaneously; it was always my goal, even since high school. But, I didn't act on it until a few months after I graduated from university. I made the decision to go abroad during my third and final year of my degree. I realized that I loved what I was studying, but needed to find myself, my passion, and fulfill my goal to go abroad.
