Great cultural experience
August 14, 2025by: Izzy VanDusen - United StatesProgram: Community Engagement in Granada, SpainThis was a very nice experience. The city of Granada was lovely! The coordinators made us feel so at home and were very helpful. I really appreciated how culturally immersed I felt in this city (since some can be very touristy, which creates a lack of opportunity for language immersion). I especially loved Ángel’s tour guides. He shared much of the history of Granada (and more), which my group and I found very intriguing. He was not only an excellent coordinator and history “teacher,” but a very kind, friendly, and outgoing individual with whom we loved to talk. I ended up having 2 homestays in my 2 months there. I was disappointed with the results of my first homestay since the family made me feel excluded and didn’t spend much time with me, but María (one of the coordinators) was very helpful in finding me a new placement the second month, which I was relieved to have.
