Program Overview

Dedicate your time as a football (soccer) or athletics coach through a sports volunteer project in Zanzibar. You will work with a local football organization that aims to discover and promote young talent. They also aim to make football a leisure activity that prevents children and youth from the dangers of drug abuse or crime. The athletics organization offers comprehensive athletic training for all ages and genders, with some athletes even achieving international success in various events.

The organization’s members work on a voluntary basis, and you will assist with their daily tasks. You don’t have to be a professional coach to join this project, but you should have good knowledge and/or previous experience in football or soccer.

Activities for volunteers might include:
- Football/athletics training
- Endurance training
- Coordination and mobility exercises
- Technical coaching
- Organize tournaments

Because of the high temperatures in Zanzibar, training usually takes place in the early morning hours and in the late afternoon.

As a volunteer, you have to show a high level of initiative and sporting commitment and be able to work independently.
