Organic Agriculture Internship in Zanzibar

by World Unite!
Program Overview
This internship is ideal for anyone interested in agriculture in tropical climate zones, such as agriculture, botany, biology, ecology, or landscape design students.
Qualified supervision/tutoring is possible, and special interests can be discussed in advance. These may include irrigation, organic weed control, residue Management after harvest, optimization of permanent crops (mainly fruit trees), and storage and conservation of tropical fruits to counteract seasonalities.
The offer is also ideal for dissertation papers, research projects, and similar endeavors. Supervision is done by Mr. Foum, who is a lecturer at the Kizimbani Agricultural Institute of Zanzibar and who is running his farm, cultivating tropical fruits and vegetables, spices, and mushrooms, abstaining from synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and additives.
Like all traditional farms in Zanzibar, the farm is characterized by many plant species. Extensive mixed cultivation is adopted, in which such species of plants are cultivated close to each other, in which the presence of one species reduces the appearance of possible pests on other species.
