Intern in Ireland with World Endeavors

Was given the opportunity to be involved in various types of tasks across different departments, thus boosting my overall learning curve and understanding of the industry. Additionally, the internship period was ideal as it was the busiest period of the year for the organization, paving the way for me to gain quality experiences in the industry I’ve always been passionate about.

The academic and professional goals were definitely met. The area of personal goals that was lacking was in building relationships outside of the workplace. Because I am only 17, I struggled to meet anyone close to my age.

The main reason why I went to Ireland was because I never really heard much about what Ireland, specifically, was doing in terms of sustainability so I went there to learn. And from the Rediscovery Centre I interned at, I learned a lot about the different topics that are taught to kids, how the centre reuses waste material and even recreates clothes, furniture, paints, etc. out of the material. It was really incredible to see. And then of course I earned internship credits from it and also has inspired me to come up with ideas of how I can reuse plastic bottles as pots for plants or create school supplies out of unused cardboard, for example, in my everyday life.

What I was looking for in this experience was emu English level improvement and adaptation. At a lower level there was entering business world. Thanks to this experience, I’ve reached all these goals.

I went to Ireland for international experience in physical therapy and healthcare. I got lots of hands-on experience and worked with great people while I was there. Some feedback would be I would make sure to prepare participants a little more for the potential to be lonely at times. I would also potentially ask them for phone numbers in addition to or instead of emails to get in touch with other interns easier. Only two of the six interns returned my email during my time there.

The goals I had set for myself at the beginning of the program were to challenge myself in my career, visit places I had never been before, and make new friends. The career challenges I faced was something exciting as it was in a field I had never experienced before and allowed me to view my graphic design in a new light. I was able to travel and explore a country that has been on my list for so long and I've really fallen in love with not just the place, but the people. No matter where I turned, there was always a friendly face willing to help me find the right bus or the right pub to cozy myself in. As for the friends, I've met some of the best people, whether it be at my workplace or just by putting myself into new social situations, but I also made friends for life with my fellow interns. I've celebrated the holidays, girl nights, and even a birthday or two with them and somehow we all just fit together like puzzle pieces. Definitely a great experience and truly have found somewhere that I know I will come back to, if not for the friends, then definitely for the Guinness ;)

My WE coordinator was delightfully reassuring when I thought that my stint in Ireland wouldn't happen. She made the impossible possible. She constantly checked up on me during my time abroad and ensured I was taken care of. Even after the program she's been helpful in keeping in touch while I spent some additional time abroad. I'm forever grateful to her and value all the effort she put in. I wish we had more options on housing types and that the location was closer to the internship. Aside from that it was very informative every step of the way.

I learned so much more than I ever thought I would during my internship! It was truly an incredible experience that I am very grateful to have had thanks to World Endeavors and my US and in-country advisors.

Observing has been quite the experience here, but traveling has definitely been my favorite. I've loved seeing the old and rich history that Europe has to offer.

Everything is going well at the placement in Ireland... Getting to take advanced rides up and around the mountain is the most fun for me.

"Excellent. I am learning a lot. Getting to know my host family, my internship supervisor, and my co-workers is the highlight of my trip. I worked with local politicians, farmers, and community activists to help implement the Irish Peace Process and the European Union Common Agricultural Policy. I organized a conference held in mid-August called ""Farming for Peace."

Some of my best experiences in Ireland include visiting Galway, belfast and walking around Dublin and experiencing it. I sometimes find it a challenge to understand the accent of Irish people as the talk very soft and fast. Listening more carefully has helped me to decipher what they are saying. Overall, my internship went well. Got a business aspect of learning in my area of work.

The World Endeavors' coordinator is so kind and always available. When I was in Ireland, I observed that Irish people don’t care about the rain, love potatoes, and love beer

I am learning so much about reptiles I never knew before this experience. I have basically been doing regular zookeeper duties.I think my favorite experience so far would have to be going to the Zoo to You's. These are when we bring a certain number of animals to schools, parties, festivals, etc.

My favorite experience so far has been traveling to Northern Ireland to see the Giant's Causeway with my boss and his wife. Enjoy every minute of it. I couldn't have asked for a better placement.

Meeting new people and exploring Ireland are some in my bucketlist. My internship is tough but I have learned how to handle conflict much better. I am learning a lot

I enjoy what I am doing at my workplace. I am writing press releases and other types of pieces for clients. I have made follow up calls with members of the media to secure placement for releases. I have gone to meetings and sat in on business phone calls. I also enjoy traveling on the weekends and hanging out with the people I have met here.

My internship experience is great. My favorite part would be working at the National Museum of Ireland. When I went through the exhibits I didn't realize how much history is in there. I could spend hours just looking at each item and there's such a vast amount of things to see. I want to learn as much as I can from this internship because I hope to use these skills in the future.

World Endeavors' application process for the Internship in Ireland was nice. Good information was given and I was kept in the loop the whole time.

It is going really well, and i'm learning a lot. I've loved getting to know certain people within the community. Everyone has been so welcoming, and accepting of a new face here. It's best to keep exploring the culture, and not to be wrapped up in too much from back home. Its good to stay in touch, but if you spend your time on facebook all day instead..you lose the opportunity to seize the experience in your new country.

Absolutely wonderful! The organization is great and everyone I work with is so helpful. I feel that I am learning a lot from my internship and gaining a ton of knowledge.

I am enjoying the people at work, though the tasks and atmosphere are not what I was expecting. I am loving the culture, but am not gaining the experience I interned to get.

World Endeavors has an easy to follow application process. I was also able to get in touch with an advisor whenever I needed any help.

Future interns need to be comfortable exploring on their and meeting new people. This experience forces a person to get out of comfort zone; it's great experience.

My internship is going very well. I work with great people and have been spending time with them outside of work. I feel like I am getting a great idea of what the public relations industry is like and am gaining valuable work experience

The internship is going well. It's not quite what I expected but I am finding the positive aspects of it. I enjoy learning from the women in the group and I love watching the children grow and develop even over a short amount of time.

The staff of World Endeavors are very professional, constantly communicating to ensure I was doing okay. They provided me with the necessary information. This internship has been one of the best times of my life, and World Endeavors helped organise this experience for me. Through my program in Ireland, I feel as though I have grown and learnt so much from this experience, as a result of living and working in another country and having to do things like an adult for the first time, which is why my expectations were exceeded. I learnt a whole range of new skills in my chosen field.

My favourite experience would be when I saw how a cast was made and how it could be used in as a physio tool in order to improve the movements of a resident.

I was always in contact with the World Endeavors staff & they are easy to reach. They were super easy to talk to about anything and was very helpful They were a good program to go through. While I was in Ireland, I got to go to work every single day and be immersed into the Irish culture, but I was not ready to be traveling all over and making the friends I did and have the experiences I had. I learned the life skills I would need in my program.

I was able to fully experience a new culture while also getting valuable experience in my field. The whole process moved smoothly and I always felt well informed. I believe its one of the best ways to be able to explore the world while getting genuine job experience.

I had someone checking with me every step of the experience, in a kind and professional way they took care of me I’m fully satisfied of the experience and the WE support. It was a useful experience in a personal level and for my English and working experience too. I was able to learn a lot from my experience at my placement.

My placement is going very well. I have been learning some interesting methods for physio from my supervisors. I am really loving it!

I had a really great time at my placement. I think World Endeavors did an amazing job finding me a fantastic internship. I would recommend a similar internship experience to others as well. The people were warm, welcoming and friendly. Even my supervisors that I had were patient and kind while working with me. I thought it was special what sort of relationship my coworkers had with one another. I learned that they were serious enough about their job but at the same time, they knew how to make the environment a positive place to be in. I think a positive environment makes a big difference. It made me look forward to going to my internship.

I could not have asked for a better experience. It was the best two months of my life. I woke up everyday, made a list of my goals I would reach at my internship. Along the way, I learned a plethora of new ideas, expanded my growth as a future physical therapist, and made new friendships. The views of the places I traveled to and memories made are priceless. It was very well organized and kept me informed on the documents and resources I needed while traveling abroad for my first time. They really took the time to get to know me and set me up with a great host family and placement. It allows students to expand their understanding of a new culture and knowledge in their academic field at the same time. It was easy to meet other interns through networking and WE social media sites; because of this, it enhanced my experience by creating meaningful relationships and sharing in memories that last a lifetime. I learned more than I expected I would about differences in healthcare, economics, politics, history and education of not only Ireland, but of other countries that interns were from. Everywhere I traveled was absolutely beautiful and had a unique charm.

I was able to take advantage of my internship experience by working with the personnel there on the ground. The flexibility and friendliness of the internship hosting company was amazing. I was able to shadow other departments during the down time of my internship.

I was just able to see so much of the country, try new things, and meet plenty of new people (some of whom I grew very close to). Dublin is like a second home to me. The host family I stayed with was so great that I was sad to leave them. Other than a few hiccups my transition to living in a different country was pretty easy. The part-time internship allowed me to travel a lot, although it was not very beneficial to my personal growth and could be boring at times. If future participants experience anything similar to what I did they will not only have a great time but also grow a lot personally

I had an awesome experience, loved my host family and overall just loved being immersed in a new place for a couple of months. There's no reason for me not to recommend this program. I have absolutely no complaints about my experience with World Endeavors, it was well organized, prepared me well for my experiences, and was really just overall great.

Irish people are all incredibly nice and sociable. They really like chocolate. If they tell you that you look massive, it means you look good

My experience with interning abroad was one I will truly remember for the rest of my life. Not only was I able to gain valuable experience in my career field but I also was able to experience a whole new culture and way of life. I am a person who constantly likes to challenge myself and try new things. This experience challenged me socially and in my field as well, which i benefited from greatly. I was able to make great relationships with co workers, patients, and people I met while traveling on the weekends. And I must say my host family could not have been more kind! I grew so much as a person and learned a lot about myself along the way. This all would not have been possible without the help of World Endeavors, who made the process of getting set up with the internship and traveling so easy!
