International Development NGO Volunteer in Cambodia
Take advantage of a lifetime opportunity in Cambodia through our Human Rights internships, which are based in Phnom Penh. These placements let you work alongside a reputable humanitarian organization that focuses on diverse human rights issues through consultation and promotion of people’s rights. Many of our partner organizations represent local communities and push for laws within public interest. They also train groups to help communities understand their rights. Recent areas you could become involved with include land and housing rights, which mainly assist groups of evicted families in obtaining compensation for losing their land. Other initiatives involve helping marginalized communities at risk of losing their livelihoods. As a human rights intern, your role and responsibilities will be determined by your area of interest and background. For a minimum of four weeks, you will work under the supervision of local staff and mostly handle office tasks, from editing written documents to compiling reports. You also have the chance to attend workshops and meetings, as well as join site visits within Phnom Penh or a province in Cambodia.
