Join a teaching volunteer program in Arusha, Tanzania and support local schools and children while gaining valuable experience in a different educational and cultural environment.
As a teaching volunteer, you can support local teachers with classroom activities, English practice, creative activities, sports and educational games.
You don't need to be a qualified teacher to volunteer with us. We welcome students, graduates, professionals and anyone with a genuine interest in education and working with children. Your responsibilities will always depend on your experience, confidence and the needs of the school or project.
VTE is a small-scale organization offering personal support before and throughout your stay. You will live in our volunteer accommodation, meet other international volunteers and experience everyday life in Tanzania.
In your free time, explore Tanzanian culture, discover Arusha, go on safari or travel to Zanzibar.

Do I need teaching experience
No. You don't need to be a qualified teacher to join our teaching volunteer program. We welcome people who are enthusiastic about working with children and willing to learn. Your role will depend on your experience and the needs of the school.
What will I be doing as a teaching volunteer
Your activities can include supporting local teachers, helping children practise English, assisting with classroom activities, organising educational games, creative activities or sports. You will work alongside local staff rather than replacing them.
What age groups will I work with?
This depends on the school and current availability. Placements may include kindergarten or primary-school children. We will discuss your preferences and experience before matching you with a suitable project.
Can I choose what I teach?
We will take your interests, skills and experience into consideration. However, the exact activities depend on the needs of the school and the guidance of local teachers. The goal is to provide support where it is genuinely useful.
