Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the volunteer program?

Your program fee includes accommodation at our volunteer house, breakfast and dinner, project placement, local orientation, guidance and support throughout your stay.

Can I volunteer in a hospital?

Yes! We offer healthcare and hospital placements for volunteers with the appropriate background and interests. The exact activities depend on your experience, qualifications and the needs of the hospital.

Do I need previous volunteer or work experiences?

Yes! You don't need a formal healthcare diploma. However, we do ask that you have some previous experience in healthcare, volunteering or a similar environment. We want to make sure you feel comfortable in the hospital and have some basic understanding of working with patients. Your first day should not be your first experience in a healthcare setting. We help you to find a place depend on your skills, experiences and the needs of the hospital.

Can I choose which project I want to volunteer at?

Yes. We want your experience to match your interests as much as possible. We will discuss your preferences with you and find a suitable project based on your interests, skills and the current needs of our local partners.

What makes Volunteer Travel Experience different?

We are a small-scale, personal volunteer organisation. Instead of being one volunteer among many, you become part of a small community where you receive personal support and have the opportunity to experience Tanzania beyond the typical tourist experience.
