UWI Cave Hill PhD in Cultural Studies

This course is for creative people. It encourages critical thinking and explores topics of debate in various disciplines, with a strong emphasis placed on topics that drive our civilization. Courses tackle issues in the history of aesthetics as well as the philosophy of art and proceed by examining developments from the perspective of Caribbean societies as they navigate the challenges of independence in a dynamic global environment.

UWI graduates who possess an MA degree by coursework and/or the MPhil degree in Cultural Studies or a related discipline in which the average coursework mark is 60% or better will be accepted to register for the PhD degree. Graduates from other recognized tertiary institutions who hold equivalent qualifications may be allowed to register as well. Those who have matriculated to the Masters of Philosophy program and meet certain criteria may be permitted to switch to this doctoral program. Students have the opportunity to enroll in a multicultural Caribbean campus and experience other cultures at a highly ranked and accredited university.
