Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Cultural Studies

The MPhil in Cultural Studies explores the complexity of culture and its political significance, with a strong focus on Caribbean identity and thought. This postgraduate program aims to establish Cultural Studies as a vital field of research at UWI while fostering deeper academic engagement with the region’s diverse cultural expressions.

Research areas include Caribbean cultural theory, African Diaspora Studies, diaspora religious traditions, migration and transnational identities, popular culture, and Africana political and social thought.

Students benefit from a multicultural Caribbean learning environment at an accredited, globally respected university. Full-time candidates have up to three years to complete both coursework and a thesis, while part-time students have up to five years to fulfill the same requirements.
