UWI Cave Hill Master of Science (Biosafety)

This master's program is designed to meet the demand for regional biosafety expertise. It provides training in potential risks associated with the use of modern biotechnology products in trade, biological, and biotechnology research as well as promotes a greater understanding of modern biotechnology. The course focuses on the design constructs of genetically modified organisms. Biodiversity concepts and environmental challenges in relation to GMOs, especially in relation to the Caribbean are studied. Furthermore, knowledge on how to assess the risk posed by the use of genetically modified organisms is accessed. The program delves deep into risk management techniques, legal instruments, and diagnostic techniques used in the mitigation of GMO risks.
