Program Overview
Students enrolling in this program learn how to manage a range of events within the hospitality and tourism industry, to a globally accepted standard of quality. They also learn how to create winning integrated marketing and communications plans to reduce risk. The course of study helps them to overcome the challenges facing the tourism and hospitality industry. It delves into the necessary skill set to manage events, accommodations, and tourist sites and how to develop the tourism industry while protecting the environment, people, and culture.
Areas of study also include sustainable tourism development, postcolonial discourses on tourism, sports tourism, pro-poor tourism, second homes development, medical/health tourism, and foreign direct investment in tourism.
