Summer Institutes: INARCH, INLAND, INCITY

The Summer Institutes are geared toward post-baccalaureate students. Successful participants build a quality portfolio they can use for further academic pursuits on a graduate level. No previous design experience is necessary. International students are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Choose from three intensive in-person programs in an environmental design discipline: architecture, landscape architecture, and city planning & urban design. The programs start in early July and last 6 weeks.

- INARCH teaches the fundamentals of architecture and its representation
- INCITY immerses students in sustainable city planning and urban design
- INLAND teaches the fundamentals of landscape architectural practice

Each program includes a lecture series, a design or planning studio, media workshops, and site visits.

After fulfilling the program requirements, participants earn credit on an official UC Berkeley transcript. Recent Summer Institute alumni have been accepted to graduate programs at Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Rice, University of Illinois, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington, Yale, and at UC Berkeley.
