the trips of my life
February 06, 2020by: gretta ortiz - PeruI'm Gretta, I travel around the world since I was 14 years old. I have traveled to Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the United States. I'd like to travel and work to another country because they have a more advanced level in education and other resources that are important that in my country is not found. In my trips to other countries, everything has been very exciting and I loved learning about different cultures.
Dreaming called Life!
June 09, 2019by: Evelyn Tiongco - PhilippinesLiving abroad is my greatest dream since I was a child! I didn’t stopped dreaming about this and when I had a chance year 2010 I decided to leave Philippines to work abroad not only for me but for my family. It was difficult to start from the scratch and to face new environment but this is what I want so I need to deal with it. I worked as a sales associate in a company of Arabic sweets. My employer did not follow what has been said in my contract that I’ve signed from the agency. The salary and benefits are totally different. It was less than what has been offered. Can’t do something about it that time as my employer is one of the local Emirati with has a strong influence in the city. I just obeyed them and work hard from the bottom of my heart because I’ve said to myself that I cannot achieve my dreams if I will not love my work. In Gods great guidance I’ve finished my contract. Then go back home to have my vacation. I decided to comeback again and work in a restaurant as a server, unfortunately the company closed and they let us find new job. Luckily got a new job in a restaurant as well. I’ve started as a cashier cum server that after a months I’ve promoted as a team leader then eventually become Restaurant Supervisor acting Manager! Having big responsibilities motivates me to become more productive and continue to learn new things which help me to prove to myself that I can do much more than I know. Gaining knowledge every moment is my greatest achievements! I’ve learned a lot how to survive and live abroad according to their rules and how to manage my earnings in a proper way. I’ve enjoyed my life because I’ve been able to help my family with their needs. But my dream will not stop till here, I’ve said to myself that I need to do something more, something that will keep my dreams called life!!!
Great fun in Italy
January 07, 2019by: Rita Rosalinda - United StatesGreat company to work for and amazing host family. I had a really good time and would recommend the experience. The process was made easy and my host family was so kind and made me feel welcome. All in all I had a really good experience and hope to do it again someday.
Overall good experience
December 07, 2018by: Marissa Cnab - IrelandI was quite worried about working in Italy as I had never done this type of experience before but Totalnannies inspired confidence and I felt reassured at interview. I was put in touch with a few different host families and clicked with one particular family. Although the language barrier was an issue initially I soon picked up some phrases and by the 1st month I had established a good connection with the kids. The family's home was lovely and they made me feel very welcome. I would recommend this experience to anyone wanting to spend an extended period of time in Italy
Would do again and would recommend
November 29, 2018by: Bibi Koneca - New ZealandNice job opportunities and nice platform. Great interview process and quick communication with host family. Got a great position and family were really nice. The whole process was easy and clear and I would recommend Totalnannies and especially Harry who dealt with my application. The family's home was amazing and the location was super. I would never have afforded to spend so much time in Italy without this opportunity. I hope to do it again sometime
Au-pairing in Italy
October 05, 2018by: Katerina Ellio - South AfricaI got a job with Totalnannies as an au-pair in Italy this summer and I had a great time. The family was sooo welcoming and treated me as part of the family. The kids were just awesome. I am glad I found Totalnannies as they made things easy in what at first I thought was quite daunting trying to find the right family. But going with a company was much easier than going it alone and I hope to be able to try it again some time in the future.
Nice summer program
October 02, 2018by: Karin Elliott - South AfricaGot a job this summer in Italy and all in all it was a positive experience. The language barrier was an issue at first but my host family was very helpful and put me in touch with someone who gave me some private Italian classes and I soon picked up the basics. The kids were great and I found the whole experience positive and I have recommended it to my friends. The company was super helpful and answered any questions I had and made the process simple

Great time in Italy
September 19, 2018by: Rebecca Schot - AustraliaLoved my host family and the company was easy to deal with and helped to sort out any quries and the 100's of questions I had as this was my first time working abroad. Great to have the back up of a company as it gave me peace of mind. In the end I didn't need any help when over there as my host family was awesome.
Positive experience
November 28, 2016by: Julia - AustraliaPositive experience with this company. Good communication and supportive in getting the application just right, fine tuning to get me my ideal position. All in all it was a positive experience and I would recommend it!
Excellent professional company
October 24, 2016by: Patricia - United KingdomI would highly recommend Totalnannies. I was in need of finding a position quickly as left it last minute and they sent me a good selection of vacancies. Communication was good and they ironed out last minute issues with the contract. The family is very nice and so far all is good. I would highly recommend using them to find a placement in Italy. It is great to have the backing of a company, you feel safer than going it alone and best of all it is free!
Terrible experience
July 19, 2016by: G. S. - San DiegoI was hired as a mothers help for two months in Riccione Italy. Upon arrival, everything seemed great. Great family, great place, great town. I only spent three days there that were some of the worst days of my life. The children were unruly, rude, physically violent, and undisciplined. The mother had expectations of me that were never made clear and were very contradictory. On my third day there, she came up to me and said that it wasn't working and asked me to pack up my things and leave that night. I had very little money and had to get a hotel for the evening and then book a train back to Rome. I also had to buy another flight home because I had already purchased a flight for the month I was supposed to leave but there was no way I could stay there that long if I wasn't working. On top of that, she only paid me 2/3 of what I was supposed to get for the three days I worked. Upon my arrival home, I was informed by the Totalnannies agency that I had voluntarily quit the position and hadn't given two weeks notice, therefore I owed (still owe) the family two weeks worth of pay (700 euro). In the contract it states that if either party terminates the position, two weeks notice is required or two weeks pay. So not only does the family actually owe me 700 euro plus the 50 that I didn't receive for my three days work, but now they are saying that I owe THEM the money! Ridiculous! They fired me; not the other way around. Regardless to whether I was performing my duties or not (which I guess I wasn't although it was never laid out to me what exactly was expected) , I should be paid the two weeks pay or I should have been given two weeks notice! The family never gave me any warning or option to stay with clearer cut instructions as to what was expected of me. And now the agency is taking sides with the family saying that no, I was not terminated, I left on my own accord. The agency will receive nothing from me. They can come after me all they want with their debt collectors, but I am standing firm against them. I know what happened and I know exactly what should have happened and I am so fed up with this agency right now. They have handled everything so unprofessionally I can't even believe they still are in business!
We are very sorry you did not have a good experience overseas in your host family. We note that you cancelled your first placement only 2 days before you arrival date. Although this was a great inconvenience for us and the host family we did give you an other opportunity with this host family. It is very important for us as a company that our candidates have a positive experience and if you would have contacted us initially with any problems we would have tried to address these with your host family. However all candidates do need to follow placement guidelines and family house rules. The host family informed the placement coordinator that on your first night there and subsequent nights you stayed out till 4.00 am. Also during your working hours you lay on the sunbed with your earphones on and did not take a proactive approach with the children. Initially when arriving in a host family candidates need to try and establish a bond with the children and the host family. Regarding the termination of your contract we do have an email from you stating that you are quiting your placement and as for any position if you do terminate your contract you do need to give notice in order for us to find a substitute candidate for the family and not walk out on the family and leave them without child care. If the family had terminated the contract they also would have needed to give notice. We have these measures in place so that both host family and candidate are protected. The family did make a payment to you on your departure and in this instance we will not be perusing the no notice fee. We place a large number of candidates every year and most candidates find this a very positive and rewarding experience. Subsequently we have sent this particular host family a substitute candidate and she has let us know that she is very happy in her placement.
