Global Regeneration Steward Fellowship
Program Overview
A learning adventure combining travel, community, mentorship, and real-world projects across Canada, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Develop practical skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, creative media, and environmental understanding while exploring future career pathways, building lifelong friendships, and contributing to the creation of Thriving Futures 2100 educational experiences.
Participants explore forests, rivers, mountains, coastlines, villages, and cities while living and learning in small international cohorts. Activities include field excursions, storytelling, nature connection, creative media production, theatre, music, mapping, group projects, community discussions, and mentorship sessions. In the Foundations Program, participants work in teams to design immersive Thriving Futures 2100 learning experiences based on topics that most interest them, developing practical skills in presentation, facilitation, event design, and communicating ideas that inspire positive change.

Is this program only for gap-year students?
No. While the Fellowship is designed with gap-year students in mind, it is also open to university students, recent graduates, educators, homeschoolers, creative practitioners, and anyone seeking a meaningful learning adventure, new skills, and a clearer sense of direction.
What skills will I develop during the Fellowship?
Participants develop practical skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, creative media, presentation, facilitation, systems thinking, ecological awareness, project development, and collaborative problem-solving. Many participants also gain greater confidence, independence, and clarity about future educational and career pathways.
Do I need experience in environmental studies or outdoor education?
No prior experience is required. Participants come from diverse backgrounds and interests. The program is designed for curious learners who are willing to explore, collaborate, and engage with new ideas, experiences, and communities.
What will a typical day look like?
Days vary by location and project, but often include field excursions, group discussions, creative workshops, mentorship sessions, collaborative projects, community activities, and time for reflection and exploration. The balance of learning, adventure, and community life is a central part of the experience.
What happens after the Fellowship?
Participants join an international network of peers, mentors, educators, and community partners. Many continue into advanced programs, community projects, future Thriving Futures 2100 events, university studies, teaching, environmental work, creative careers, entrepreneurship, or other pathways inspired by their Fellowship experience.
