Best choice I ever made
November 20, 2025by: Denise Gondrez - United StatesI wanted to teach abroad and had no idea how. I wanted to since I was in college. I came across the language house one day while searching and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. The instructors were fantastic and there is so much hands on learning you really get a great feel for teaching and how to build lessons. You even get to teach real sstudents during the course! They also take you on a few short distance adventures in the Czech Republic and Prague. It was so much fun and it changed my life and my perspectives and my teaching for the better.
Incredible learning experience!
November 07, 2025by: Talon Stradley - United StatesThis course was an absolute blast! What started as just a means to an ends o move to a new country became so much more. I enjoyed the teaching and courses immensely. Now I have more diverse job skills, an additional set of income, a ready-to-go network, and the training to actually make it all work!
Great course
September 02, 2025by: Jason Chrudimsky - United StatesThe course and the ongoing support were fantastic. They did an excellent job preparing you. The classroom instruction was fantastic and they had an impressive amount of live classroom teaching time. It felt overwhelming occasionally, but in a good way. By Thursday of the first week you were in front of actual students and you taught 9 lessons by the end of the course. If you are serious about wanting to teach English abroad this course gives you all the tools to be successful.
Sharpening my tools
August 29, 2025by: Egbert Dahl - NetherlandsI went into it not necessarily knowing what it would entail but it was a rich experience. I do recommend for various reasons: -Abroad -challenging -Prague is beautiful -teachers are very skilled - your previous experience is irrelevant, you will learn new things on a daily basis. -teaching real people throughout the course
Language House jumpstarted my life abroad
August 26, 2025by: Deepan Ghimiray - United StatesI graduated from the Language House TEFL course in 2014. 11 years later, I'm still here in Prague! The course itself was comprehensive and the quality of the teaching was excellent. And in addition, the school was exceptional in helping students find jobs and integrate into a new country. Also very substantial, the Language House introduces you to a community of fellow teachers. Some of my closest friends today I met through the Language House. The school delivered everything it promised -- and more!
The best way to start your new life abroad
August 19, 2025by: Nica Latto - United StatesThe Language House is an amazing program. The instructors truly care about each and every student and go above and beyond to help you succeed. The training is rigorous, but if you put in the work you’ll gain the necessary skills to start teaching right away. With additional assistance with the job and housing search, and a strong alumni community, It’s everything you need to build your life abroad. I did the program in 2012 and I’m still living in Prague with many friends that I made through the program. I even met my husband through TLH!
Such a fun experience! Amazing community
August 17, 2025by: Allie DeGregorio - United StatesTLH Prague offers so much in just one month…student teaching, friendships, and support in finding what to do after graduation. The class offers so much while also making sure you still have opportunities to immerse yourself in the culture. Truly a once in a lifetime experience! 10/10 recommend!!
When is a school not just a school?
August 17, 2025by: Ted Hollis - United StatesI visited Prague for the first time in 2019 and by my third day here, I knew that I was going to live here. After four years of planning, speaking with friends, and testing out ideas regarding how practical the move might be, nothing was really happening. Then a friend mentioned that his niece had just spent a year in Prague and said that he would have her email me. Melanie did, and in her email was an invite to a Zoom meeting with folks from The Language House. I had just retired after 23 years of substitute teaching in middle and high schools for LAUSD and had no intention of teaching again. However, that 30-minute Zoom call opened the door for me to follow a dream. I learned that The Language House would not only qualify me for a TEFL certificate, but would help me with my visa to live here (thank you, Jitka) and show me how to find a place to live. Beyond that (as if that’s not enough), TLH alumni have become my family. Our October 2023 class has already enjoyed one reunion last year and now we’re planning another! And TLH grads are invited to the graduation party for each session - that’s about once a month - so I’ve become a member of an even greater community - TLH is a school that becomes a family. In less than two years, I managed to get work teaching in businesses (companies here sometimes hire English teachers to give their employees free English lessons, thus “added value” for the employee and the company). I’ve developed my own free-lance collection of private, one-on-one students in person and online (mostly through word-of-mouth, as Chris mentioned is usually the way it happens). It is a delight to forge new relationships with my adult students, relationships that are both meaningful and enjoyable. I started a wonderful, fulfilling life all over again here in Europe at 76 years old. I’m so thankful to The Language House for making that possible, for making yet another life’s dream come true.
This started the best 4 years of my life
August 15, 2025by: Francisco Gornes - United StatesI enrolled in this TEFL course back in 2017 and I still look back at that decision and see it as one of the best decisions I've made in my life. The course itself was difficult and prepared you for all the difficulties you can come to expect as an English teacher in Prague. Above all, it jump started the best 4 years of my life living in Europe, meeting incredible people and having unforgettable adventures.
Perfect launching board
August 14, 2025by: Astrid Van Kampen - AustraliaI completed my TEFL certificate with The Language House way back when in 2016. The support and community provided was fantastic and I’ve applied the skills I learnt in the course across many different industries and occupations. 100% recommend, it was a life changing experience for me and I still have friends all across the world from my course.
Great community they created
August 14, 2025by: Robert Rosenberger - United StatesI took this program just expecting to get a certificate and then be on my own however as an alumni member I still went to graduations and networked it was a fantastic experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. I quickly found work once the course was over some even managed to get employed before they graduated. Great program
Wonderful experience. Great instruction.
August 14, 2025by: Rosie Latto - AlbaniaLearned so much in four weeks. It was hard work, but with terrific results. More intensive than a Masters degree in Education from the US. Also, Prague is a fabulous city. I now teach a group of ten adults from Brazil and Ukraine and we've been together for one year. Thanks, Language House.
A Life-Changing TEFL Adventure in Prague
August 14, 2025by: Bentley Dusablon - United StatesTaking the TEFL course in Prague was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I arrived expecting to stay for just a year after the course, but I ended up loving it there so much that I stayed for two. The course was engaging, practical, and well-structured, giving me the skills and confidence to start teaching right away. One of the biggest highlights was the community. I met incredible people from all over the world, many of whom became lifelong friends. We supported each other through lesson planning, explored Prague together, and shared countless laughs. The city’s vibrant social scene also made it easy to meet new people, including some very charming acquaintances. Prague itself was the perfect setting, full of history, beauty, and opportunity. I even learned more of the language than I expected to. Thanks to the school’s connections and the high demand for English teachers, I found a job quickly and easily. This wasn’t just a course, it was the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life. If you’re looking for adventure, growth, and a rewarding career path, I can’t recommend it enough!
Great program, supportive team!
August 14, 2025by: Jovs C - MalaysiaMoving to a new city and starting a whole new career happened so much smoother thanks to the Language House. From TEFL stuff to housing, visa, job search, post-studies support, it’s been a great experience. Looking back, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. Also, the lessons were so fun and engaging, and introduced so many creative ideas. It was tough, but so worth it! Thanks TLH :)
The school gave me new life in Europe
August 13, 2025by: Boris Balson - United StatesIt was the best possible choice for me. The Language House turned to be wonderful institution with excellent teachers and extremely supportive owner Chris.I learned quite a lot in term of teaching, because this has never been my primary profession. The entire staff was incredibly supportive and helpful in any sphere of our life in Prague Thank you all- Chris, Andrea, Stacy, Jitka, Denise, and everyone I did not mention- you all were really great
Well worth it!
August 13, 2025by: Alanna Bradley - United StatesI researched several options before making the leap to move abroad and take courses to earn my TEFL certification. I had the best experience with The Language House. After submitting an inquiry, a representative called me right away and helped me feel at ease about such a big life commitment. She had done the course herself and was very easy to talk to and answered all of my questions which helped me feel confident in making my decision to choose The Language House. Once I came over, the course was everything I expected (and hoped for). I found an instant community which made the whole experience wonderful and comfortable right from the start. The practical experience and professionalism of the staff are two of the best qualities of the program. You will leave feeling prepared and up to speed as a teacher. You will also feel part of a community that will be an important support arm not only during the course but also in the job search process and if you decide to stay in Prague and live and work. I am so glad I chose this program for my course. Well worth it.
Life changing
August 13, 2025by: Erika Bumala - United StatesI did the language house back in 2016. I didn’t know anyone in Czech Republic and had no previous teaching experience. The school made the transition process for living abroad easier. With a large community and intensive training, they set me up for success. The classes were intense, but I loved the hands of training and the continued support after the course was finished. Doing this course was one of the best decisions I ever made.
10 out of 10
August 13, 2025by: Lisa Hutterer - United StatesThe Language House was the best decision I have ever made. They guided me every step of the way and the support given to me in every aspect of my move to Prague was more than appreciated. They are unmatched in equipping students with the knowledge to effectively teach English as a foreign language as well as providing support through the entire journey. Chris and the staff are more than wonderful and I would recommend TLH to anyone and everyone .
Such an amazing experience
August 12, 2025by: Sarah Golda - SwitzerlandI signed up to get my Tefel certificate and was extremely happy with my experience with the language house! The staff is incredible and they gave us a great experience with learning how to teach English
Great Experience
August 12, 2025by: Kate Hill - United StatesThe Language House in Prague gave me a truly hands-on, real-world experience that prepared me to start my next chapter living abroad. Even after teaching in the U.S. for over 12 years, I gained brand-new, practical skills to confidently shift into teaching English at both the corporate and elementary levels. Beyond the training, it provided a welcoming community of friends and support, which made building my new life here so much easier.
An intense but ultimately rewarding experience
August 12, 2025by: Les Gebhardt - United StatesI am 60 years old. I took the course in 2017. I’ve been living and teaching here in Prague since then. The course was almost a boot camp style experience with late night study and lesson planning but also making new friends. And, all of this is surrounded with the beauty and history of Prague. If you have a desire to change your life, career, and living experience then I wholeheartedly recommend the course. Chris and the crew prepare you well for teaching, especially if you don’t have an education background already. You get lots of practical knowledge and actual teaching experience before you complete the course. This means you can hit the ground running when you finish.
It was lifechanging
August 12, 2025by: Robert Rich - United StatesThis school changed my life, plain and simple. Sympathetic staff, fair prices, and lifelong support. Wouldn't recommend any other TEFL school in Prague or elsewhere. They are very hands on, they care about what they do, and they make a difference in every student's life.
Incredible program
August 12, 2025by: Bonnie Medlin - United StatesThe Language House in Prague exceeding all of my expectations. I learned so much, and they helped with all the challenging pieces of moving abroad. Visa help, housing assistance, job assistance, you name it!
Amazing segwey into life abroad
August 12, 2025by: Brittany Nelson - United StatesI chose The Language House because a friend highly recommended it to me, and it was a recommendation that changed my life! I was looking for a program that would help me move abroad, learn a skill that could immediately be put to use, and help me get set up with a local life. The Language House delivered all of that plus friendships that I'll truly have for life. They did an amazing job not only teaching us how to be teachers (and good teachers!!) but also really helped us find our way in Prague by teaching us local customs and helping us navigate housing and visa processes. Chris, the founder, is truly a kind person who manages to still have empathy for new students each month. I've now been living in Prague for 7 years and it's all thanks to The Language House.
Highlight of my 20’s!
August 12, 2025by: Jessalyn Hubbard - United StatesI’ve done lots of traveling abroad and no city has captivated me in the way that Prague has. I had the best month ever completing my month long TEFL course with The Language House, and although I was meant to go on a 6 month backpacking trip through Asia afterwards, I cancelled my plans to move to Prague instead. TLH helped us with the Visa process, gave us tips for housing and jobs, and more. They are amazing and I’m so grateful for the community that I have now in Prague from them! 🫶🏼
Truly the Best
August 12, 2025by: Tracey Weir - United StatesThe Language House TEFL program is one of a kind. The support they give you, even before you land in Prague, is incredible. I felt like they had my back every step of the way. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and want you to succeed. The teaching experience you get during the course is invaluable. I left the course confident I could teach a class thanks to the in class methodology learning, but also largely thanks to the immediate feedback we received from the helpful observers. All around, the best TEFL program!
Couldn't have been better
August 12, 2025by: Marina Kompar - CroatiaThe Language House in Prague is amazing! The trainers are super friendly, fun, and really know their stuff. The course is hands-on, well-organized, and gives you loads of confidence to teach. Plus, the community vibe is fantastic — you instantly feel at home. Honestly, it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had!
Great Program, Continuing Support
August 12, 2025by: Michael Price - United StatesI learned how to teach, found work, and have had continuing support from them as well as a social network for the year since I’ve graduated. I’d recommend this program for anyone, my employers have all said my TLH education was a big reason for my hire.
Wonderful experience
August 11, 2025by: Judah Doyen - United StatesGreat instructors that bring “helpful” to the next level. While the course is rigorous, the instructors and staff give you all of the tools needed to perform well. You will find yourself learning and growing without even realizing it. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Forever happy I did it
August 11, 2025by: Myra Cazares - United StatesI had such a great time learning, making friendships, teaching, and creating memories at The Language House. I’m so happy I completed the course with them and will always be proud to be a graduate. The teachers are accessible, friendly, fun, engaging, everything you need from an instructor! The staff is cool, helpful, and resourceful.
My life changed in ways I didn’t know it would!
August 11, 2025by: Carolina Valdivia - United StatesI grew up always saying, “One day, I’m going to live in Europe.” I just never knew how it would happen. One day I came across an ad for The Language House. Curiosity got the better of me and before I knew it, I had booked and paid for a one-month TEFL course in Prague, Czech Republic. I was nervous but excited. I had no idea how much this decision would change my life. From the very beginning, The Language House went above and beyond. The instructors did not just teach us grammar, they made sure we truly mastered it. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure every student felt confident and supported. For anyone who needed extra help, including myself, they offered free Saturday morning sessions. These two-hour classes gave us the chance to ask questions and strengthen our skills. Their support extended far beyond the classroom. They hosted career fairs, connected us with alumni, and helped us secure jobs. They also assisted with housing and had an on-site visa company to guide us through the process. What truly makes The Language House special is the way they continue to care for their graduates. They keep in touch, host twice-monthly social events so we can meet new people and build connections, and are always available if we need advice or assistance. Attending The Language House was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Since completing my course in March 2019, they have remained a constant source of encouragement, opportunities, and community. I will always be grateful for the support and guidance they have given me and continue to provide to this day.
I would do it again!
August 11, 2025by: Tatiana Vargas - ColombiaTaking The Language House course was truly life-changing. It was challenging and it really pushed me out of my comfort zone, but every bit of effort was worth it. I loved the engaging content, the hands on approach, and the incredible teachers who made each lesson meaningful, practical and fun. Chris and Stacy were especially amazing during onboarding and guiding me through the entire process. The help I received with housing and my visa took away so much stress and allowed me to focus on learning. Beyond the skills and confidence I gained, the greatest gift was the warm, welcoming community of staff and alumni, who continue to offer guidance, encouragement, and friendship long after the course ends. Also, Prague is a magical place, the location of the school is perfect. It's close to everything. If you’re thinking about taking the leap, just do it. You’ll gain not only a qualification, but also a network of people who will inspire and support you for years to come.
Almost 10 years after TEFL, still going strong!
August 11, 2025by: Stephanie Cohen - United StatesI got my TEFL certification with The Language House in Prague in 2016, thinking I’d spend a year abroad, then go back home to the US. Little did I know how much I’d love teaching, living in Prague, and my new life that I’m still living here almost 10 years later! I wouldn’t have felt as integrated or supported in this journey without the help of TLH. They provide amazing resources and a huge community of graduates, so you’ll never feel alone. I’m still besties with people from my course, and we’ve made some incredible memories over the years. I still use my teaching skills from my TEFL even now in my corporate job. Talk about life-long skills! If you’re even thinking about it—just do it. You’ll thank yourself later.
It was the best thing I ever did !
August 11, 2025by: Dawson Zdunich - CanadaTLH TEFL course truly is the best! I made so many friends and learned soooo much through the hands-on teaching experience that they provide! the team is incredibly supportive and they really make getting your certification FUN! Lots of work, but so worth it!
I continued to learn about people.
August 11, 2025by: Faud Engineer - United StatesIt was an eye opener to see how people from all walks of life could be so similar and different too. The course taught me how to work with the differences and understand the similarities too. Strangers to friends, in such a short time and students to teachers.
Wonderful life experience
August 11, 2025by: Milica Vojinovic - SerbiaI was the only non-native, so I was quite anxious about everything, but guys quickly reassured me. The course ticks all the boxes. You meet nice people, live in a beautiful city and you learn a lot. They try to make everything fun and easy.I was there 10 years ago and the certificate opened many doors in my career.
Bucket List Item Completed!
August 11, 2025by: Michael Reynolds - United StatesThis school was the absolute best thing had happened in my life. The experiences I had there were some of the most memorable and rewarding in my 54 years on this planet. I would definitely recommend this school in Prague if you are thinking about working in the world of TEFL.
Best way to travel and work
August 11, 2025by: Katie Metts - United StatesI can’t say enough great things about The Language House. The owners were really present and kept everything super organized. They hosted a lot of meetups for our class and other classes so we could really bond with everyone living there. They guided me through the visa process and always communicated what was needed and made sure we were prepared. Living in a new country is so special and I think all of us that took the class together were really happy with the way The Language House operated. I tell people about it all the time and lots of people from my time there stayed in the country permanently. I think the Language House had a lot to do with that.
So much fun and a great way to move to Prague.
August 11, 2025by: Ryan Devine - United StatesI had only planned to have a bit of fun while I got my TEFL certification, but I ended up moving to the fairy tale city. I often think of dropping everything and moving backs Bonus: A few classmates and I are still friends to this day.
All you need to start teaching!
August 11, 2025by: Rebecca Maia - BrazilThis was an intense and very educational TEFL course. I was dabbling inteaching before I took it, and after graduating I felt that teaching was a whole different world. It's intense, but it's all for a reason. You learn everything you need to start teaching abroad, there is assistance for everything you may need, and of course, practice lessons to actually put the things you're learning into practice! The trainers are all extremely knowledgeable and will be there to support you. I definitely recommend it!
SO glad I went to The Language House!
August 11, 2025by: Steve Phillips - United StatesIt was definitely one of the most valuable things I have ever done, and, at 64 years old, one of the more challenging! I moved to Prague alone, it was the first time I had ever been in Europe, and I needed every bit of "hand-holding" The Language House provided. The staff is so professional, and the during and after support can't be beat. Most of the students were more or less right out of college, but whatever your age, go for it! The experience will rewrite your future.
Best School!
August 11, 2025by: Taylor Frizzell - United StatesThe Language House prepared me so well for going out and being a TEFL teacher. It was such a memorable and wonderful experience and I got hired very quickly after finishing the course. I highly recommend The Language House!
Was great
August 11, 2025by: Austin Betz - United StatesComprehensive program with great instructors and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow inside and outside of the program. Assistance with visa process and a great networking opportunity. Couldn’t recommend more.
Set me up for a fantastic year in Prague and future teaching career
August 11, 2025by: David Barach - United StatesI had a great experience with this program in 2012. It set me really well for the following year in Prague, and afterwards, what I had learned continued to inform me as a teacher years later. Many friends from that time stayed in Prague for quite a long time (a few are still there), and formed the course’s rich alumni community.
Great Program, Real Experience, 100% worth it.
August 11, 2025by: William Olson - United StatesI went to Prague planning on doing The Language House TEFL course and maybe teaching for a year. I ended up teaching in Prague for 4 years. The experience TLH gives you and the real practical teaching that you do in their course does an excellent job of preparing you for any teaching environment you may find yourself in. I absolutely recommend it to anyone.
Excellent Quality!
August 11, 2025by: Philip Easter - United StatesThe Language House in Prague does an excellent job of preparing you not just for teaching but also life in Prague. Their instructors and staff are all very friendly and helpful. I felt very well prepared to start teaching after taking the TEFL course at The Language House.
Life Changing
August 11, 2025by: Christina Kinne - United StatesThe Language House is the ideal way to TEFL. You immediately join a community of of hundreds of graduates who are living in Prague so there is no fear of going through the experience alone. I was supposed to take the course then go to Asia to TEFL but ended up loving the people and city so much that I stayed.
Best Move I Ever Made
August 11, 2025by: Lyndsay Cole - United StatesThe Language house changed my life. Getting my TEFL certification was the first step in a career I’ve now had for 7 years. Not only did it give me the knowledge to have a successful career abroad it was invaluable in advancing my career once I returned to the states. Spending one month of my life doing this course set me for years to come and was fun at the same time. Plus Prague is an amazing city!
Most important first step for a new life abroad
August 11, 2025by: Kate Doehring - United StatesI can't imagine beginning to teach without the knowledge and experience gained in this course. Not only teaching methodology and grammar, but also how to get a visa and a job, and a great network of friends. I was able to quickly secure a full time job in the Czech Republic before I even graduated from the course, and have taught at many schools in several countries since. The connections and contacts I made during this course have been helpful for gaining employment, as well as building community over and over again over the years. They never forget about you, and are happy to help you with whatever you need forever once you finish the course. After nearly 2 decades in this industry, I truly believe this course is unique in many ways. Highly recommended.
Awesome Experience!!
August 11, 2025by: Maggie Michalak - United StatesI was part of the August 2022 class and then stayed in Prague for a year following the course. There was a ton of guidance prior to leaving and the whole year I was there, even after completing the program. It’s definitely a lot of work but you learn so much and it’s 100% worth it. If you’re on the fence about it, just do it!! I often think back about my time in Prague and still have connections with people I met through the program!
A Fun and Practical Experience
August 11, 2025by: Adrianna Connor - United StatesThe Language House guides you step by step on how to create lessons from scratch, and then they give you a ton of supervised teaching practice. They give you real students to teach, ranging from A2 to C1. It was incredibly useful. If any of my friends ever wanted to learn how to teach English, I would highly recommend this school. The instructors are awesome and they give you a great foundation you can build your career on.
One of the best choices of my life
August 11, 2025by: John Pek - United StatesI’ve improved so much during my time here, not just in language skills but also in confidence. The classes are interactive, the atmosphere is welcoming, and I’ve met great people from all over the world. I’m really grateful for everything I’ve learned here.
Best Decision
August 11, 2025by: JoyceLyn Williams - United StatesEmbarking on my journey at The Language House in Prague was a whirlwind of emotions and experiences. It was a challenging, fun, and often exhausting experience, but the transformation was miraculous. Before I even set foot in Prague, I felt completely prepared for the intensive program, and once I arrived, the support from the staff and my fellow classmates was incredible. The Language House goes far beyond just teaching you how to stand in front of a classroom. They focus on preparing you to be a confident and effective teacher, and in doing so, they create an environment where lifelong friendships are forged. My classmates became my family, and the bonds we formed in those intense weeks are something I will cherish forever. Looking back, choosing The Language House for my TEFL certification was the best decision I could have made. It was an experience that not only shaped my career but also enriched my life in ways I never imagined
The hardest and best education of my life
August 04, 2025by: Lori Steele - United StatesI attended the Language house as a way to Move to Prague. Little did I know it would be one of the best experiences of my life. It was a tough course but also enjoyable and an amazing learning experience. I researched several TEFL courses but The Language House offered more actual teaching experience and more support to students than any other. Because of this experience I had a job starting the week after graduation. If you’re on the fence, let me assure you, The Language House is the school you want to choose. Whether you plan on living in Prague or teaching somewhere else in the world, they will support you to the fullest!
So glad I did TLH!
July 31, 2025by: Mady Eberstein - United StatesTLH provides such a unique service/training/experience to their students. I truly feel I could not have chosen a better program. They give their students intensive, realistic teaching experience that requires resourcefulness and creativity, and all the tactics you learn can be directly applied to a real classroom. For anyone like myself who would be a little lost moving to a foreign country, TLH does a phenomenal job providing guidance and services to students regarding housing, visa applications, and cultural integration, and the social network associated with TLH is a must-have for forming community abroad! I thought I would only be teaching for a year after earning my TEFL in 2022, but teaching part-time online has been a life saver while completing my master's. Safe to say I am still reaping the rewards of my TLH days today!
Amazing!
July 31, 2025by: Claire Svoboda - United StatesThis was an excellent course with helpful instructors who set me up for success. When I left the course, I was confident in my teaching ability and had the skills and opportunities to easily secure a job.

Amazing education and community
July 18, 2025by: Jennifer Byres - CanadaThis school gave me a very thorough and intense education that made me feel prepared to be a first time teacher. By having experienced teachers in the classroom, I felt as if every minute of each class was so valuable and important. Not only do you have fun and enjoyable lectures, but also the opportunity to teach your own trial classroom with no fear. The community of the current and past students, as well as the teachers and other expats is so warm, inviting, and helpful. This school supports you before, during and after your Language House education and is the community that everyone needs.

I have lifelong friends and treasured memories from my experience.

Best career decision!
July 11, 2025by: Isaac Drysdale - United StatesComing to The Language House was the best decision I’ve made to start my career in teaching. Though the curriculum is intense, everything was really rewarding. The staff at TLH are extremely supportive, knowledgeable and do a great job of providing a positive environment for students to be creative, make mistakes and learn from them. You won’t be stuck listening to lectures about teaching. Instead, the classes are really hands on. This was also an opportunity to make great memories and new friends along the way. With their detailed job assistance, I was able to acquire teaching jobs in Germany, and I continue to teach ESL in the USA Today!
Incredible experience and intro into the world of TEFL
July 10, 2025by: Jordan Stoffel - United StatesAs someone who was new to the world of teaching, this was one of the most enriching introductions I could have had. Not only did I get to dive into the world of TEFL with a very structured direction, but I got to do so with people who are very experienced and caring. They made all of the lessons fun and practical, and they made sure that everyone was comfortable and learning what they were supposed to. Not to mention, they helped everyone navigate living in a new country and had fun group events. Cannot recommend The Language House enough!
Wonderful Experience
July 10, 2025by: Rachel Clements - United StatesIf you are serious about teaching English, then this is the perfect course. The lessons are engaging and thorough, and they prepare you to be an excellent teacher. The staff are all friendly, and the support you receive from the school extends well beyond graduation. I enjoyed my time and feel that despite the difficulty, I always felt supported, and it made me a great teacher. I have gotten great feedback from the schools I work at, and I have this course to thank for that. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to teach English, even if you don't plan on staying in Prague.
The Best Decision I've Ever Made
July 10, 2025by: Nathan Robertson - CanadaSince graduating from The Language House with my TEFL certificate, not a day has gone by where I've regretted it. I'm currently teaching in Taiwan and that's all thanks to them. The teachers did an excellent job teaching me and preparing me. The staff were incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable, and I miss them every day. Whenever one of my friends expressed interest in what I'm doing, I always recommend The Language House.
The Best Decision I've Ever Made
July 10, 2025by: Nathan Robertson - CanadaNot a day goes by where I'm not thankful that my friend recommended that I go to TLH to earn my TEFL certificate. I think about my experience there all the time. The teachers are fantastic, the staff really care and I think they actually produce excellent teachers that really know what they're doing. When any of my friends express interest in doing what I do, I always recommend The Language House.
Excellent experience. Great school, excellent teachers, and a wonderful location!
July 06, 2025by: Susan Martin - United StatesI spent a lot of time researching schools before settling on The Language House. From all the information I viewed and reviews I read; The Language House was highly recommended and rightfully so. The course was excellent, and I feel the education I received was top notch. While the course is rigorous, it truly prepares you for teaching English. All of the instructors were wonderful and extremely helpful. Prague is a beautiful city, and the location of the school is in the heart of the city. If you are looking for a school where you will come away with an amazing experience, then you cannot go wrong in choosing The Language House!
Excellent course, Amazing Instructors
July 05, 2025by: Paulina Shadowens - United StatesThe Language House in Prague offers world-class instruction in teaching English as a second language. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and gifted--their love of the subject and their teaching skill shine in every lesson. They are also devoted to their students' success and willing to put in extra time to help everyone reach proficiency in TEFL. It is a demanding course, but exceptionally well-planned and coordinated. There was also a lot of humor to counterbalance the intensity of the program, and I made friendships that continue to this day. HIGHLY recommended.
A Life-Changing Launchpad for Teaching & Living Abroad 🌍
July 05, 2025by: Brittany Arnett - United StatesThe Language House TEFL course was truly a life-changing experience. I completed the program in January, and it gave me not only the skills and confidence to teach English, but also a solid foundation for starting my new life abroad in Prague. The support from the team, both during and after the course, has been incredible. I still reflect on what I learned there, and I use those tools every day in my classroom. If you're considering teaching English and want a program that actually prepares you for the reality of living and working overseas - this is the one. I'm so grateful to The Language House for helping me begin this new chapter.
Life Changing Experience
July 04, 2025by: Leigh Connolly - United StatesI am so glad I got my TEFL and YLT certificates from TLH. From start to finish, the course was thoughtfully structured, engaging, and incredibly informative. The course material was clear, well-organized, and full of strategies and approaches that I could immediately see myself using in a real classroom. They also have an incredible in-house visa service if you're interested in staying in Prague long-term. Beyond that, TLH boasts a vibrant community of teachers and professionals that will support you as you navigate your time abroad. I highly recommend.
Great course with lots of practice
July 04, 2025by: Dave Shumaker - CanadaThe Language House was an intense but great month. The staff was super helpful, well-informed, and willing to go the extra mile for all of us. The instructors didn't just teach you how to do the minimum, but rather made sure you could stand on your own from the first. They held your hand, but also made you walk the walk in the end to get it done. Great program with solid advice and excellent job guidance throughout. If you make it through you will have a great foundation to build from in the future.
An Intense and Beneficial Program
July 03, 2025by: Joseph Bullen - United StatesI was very happy with this program. The Language House did a great job with everything from coordinating pre-departure to the delivering the gradation ceremony. The instructors were top-notch. The director (Chris) could easily be a stand-up comic. If you want an intense program that will truly prepare you for overseas teaching, look no further!
Awesome way to move abroad
January 31, 2025by: Billy Appelbaum - United StatesTLH gave me the structure and community I needed to take the jump and move abroad. Allowed me to feel confident in my choice and make it happen to live my dream life. Staff is super supportive and helpful and all of the material taught is super helpful
100% Worth It
January 31, 2025by: Madie Gongopoulos - United StatesWithout the language house, I would not have been able to make this move. They have been so incredibly helpful not only with teaching advice, but with housing, visa questions, job assistance and everything else. I can leave this course feeling confident in my abilities and with a great group of friends.
Loved it!!!!
January 31, 2025by: Jade Felthoven - United StatesThis was an amazing course that I would recommend to anyone wanting to become TEFL certified. I really appreciate the hands on experience and how much time we were given to work with real students. Everyone who works here is amazing.
Soooooo worth it!!!
January 31, 2025by: Dawson Zdunich - CanadaI am so happy that I took this course. Not only did I have an amazing time, but I genuinely feel so prepared and ready to teach English in Prague! Very supportive and positive staff who made the experience so amazing

Absolute life changer!
September 28, 2023by: Stacy C - United StatesI originally signed up to take the course as a refresher but after the first two weeks I saw how much I was learning then decided to take the full four week course. My original plan was to stay in Prague for six months to a year yet here I am almost two years later. This course not only taught me how to professionally teach English but gave me an entire new life in a new country. I met people I now consider some of my best friends through the schools network. I don't think I would have been able to stay and live here without the support I received not only from the staff but the numerous alums in the city. It sounds cheesy but this program made it possible for me to accomplish a lifelong dream of living and working in Europe!

Best time!
September 22, 2023by: Courtney Bailey - United StatesThe TEFL course at the language house is awesome! I especially loved doing REAL classes with direct feedback. The staff is very helpful throughout the whole process. Not to mention Prague also rocks :)
Best decision you can make to move abroad
September 21, 2023by: Daniel Lotufo - United StatesI came to do the program in January 2022, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. The staff is nothing but helpful, the training program is really top notch and the assistance with job placement and housing is a very underrated aspect of the course too. TLH really gives you the hands-on experience and forces you to put into practice what you learn in your training sessions, which better prepares you for teaching than other programs would. It's demanding, but rewarding! You also do everything in person and usually end up making a great group of friends - I still spend time regularly with friends I met during the course. And they offer assistance with getting your visa to live long term in the Czech Republic. I cannot recommend this program enough, it was the best decision I ever made!
Prepared me well for teaching!
September 21, 2023by: Curtis Nelson - United StatesThe Language House in Prague is very well organized, they make sure you arrive with all details worked out and all of your questions are answered. A huge advantage of theirs is the big local network of alumni who live/work in the city and even beyond. The school connects people and also partners with local employers. They host get togethers, job fairs, training workshops, and many more events. I met some of my best friends in my life during my TEFL course here, people I'm still close with years later! The methodology and training is to a high standard and helped me get my teaching career started.
I recommend it!
September 13, 2023by: Rebecca Maia - BrazilIf you search for TEFL courses in Prague, it is no doubt that The Language House will be the most popular one. It turns out that it is for a reason! And a very simple one: it is as good as it promises to be. My decision to take this course wasn't a rash nor a quick one, I took my time and looked at all of the details - my precious money needed to be put to excellent use! And I'm not afraid to say that the course at The Language House did not disappoint. It is indeed very intense, so you need to be sure about taking it. But once you are, you will learn and grow more than you imagined you would. They assist you with anything you need. The owner of the school is active and is always present in the course, as well as teaching many of the classes. Seeing him in action is one of the things that makes you feel even more confident about this course and school. I definitely recommend it!
The best choice ever!
September 10, 2023by: Olena Andriichuk - UkraineI’m an English teacher from Ukraine who did the course in July 2022. It wasn’t a spontaneous decision, I’d chosen the Language House out of about ten TEFL schools after a thorough research and I still believe it was the best decision ever! As a qualified teacher I see how good the team is, they really do great things and they manage to make you a teacher. You’ll feel how supportive and knowledgeable the staff are from the minute you start the application process and you’ll always be a part of the family when you finish the course. I did have a time of my life in Prague and I strongly recommend the Language House to everyone who’s thinking of starting a new life in Europe. Millions of thanks to Chris and all his team!
An unparalleled network
September 07, 2023by: Caroline Herring Collins - United StatesThere are tons of TEFL courses you can choose from, and I’m sure many are perfectly sufficient to get your certificate to qualify to teach; however, the Language House is SO much more than it’s courses (which are also top-notch). I moved to Prague completely on my own almost six years ago, and the Language House immediately connected me to tons of other people who’d done the same exact thing. Years later, I’m still friends with so many people who did the course, whether they were in my class or a class before or after me— in fact many of us have moved away from Prague and lived together in different cities across the globe. Having now lived in a couple different countries, I appreciate even more the assistance TLH provides with visas, housing, jobs, and personal connections. If you’re looking for a strong network of individuals both in Prague and across the globe, the Language House’s is truly second to none.
Best decision of my life
September 05, 2023by: Carl Svoboda - United KingdomComing to The Language House Prague, you immediately join a community where you will unsubtle meet life long friends, as I did. Youbreally needn't worry about leaving your home to live in a foreign country. The course, support, teachers and in class lesson experience exceed expectations.
They really care about you at the language house!
September 05, 2023by: Paul Evans - United StatesEverything is so thoughtfully planned out for you with these guys from the welcome at the airport through the tough times of the class to the end it was an amazing experience. They want you to succeed and they will do anything to make that happen. Very impressed with everything I’ve learned and been taught by the language house
Far Exceeded Expectations
September 04, 2023by: Jordan Stoffel - United StatesVery enriching course; I definitely feel like I'm now very well equipped to begin teaching. The level of professionalism that the staff maintains while still being fun and interesting individuals is amazing. Can't recommend this course enough. :)
Everything I needed to get started
September 04, 2023by: Jovial Chen - MalaysiaWhen I first became interested in moving abroad and starting a teaching career, I was so impressed by the level of commitment by the Language House in helping me understand my choice, the course and the reality of teaching in the Czech Republic. I had a long list of questions, which I got detailed and honest answers to, and even got put in touch with another student from my country who had gone through the same process. I only had good experiences with the actual teaching course. Although it was tough to get through, I felt truly supported along the way and received helpful and honest feedback, all of which has helped me become the teacher I am today. I think The Language House gave me the right foundation I needed to get started, but what impressed me most was everything provided outside the course, like free access to the school's printers and resources, visa agents who helped me process my applications smoothly, and a genuine interest in our career growth and welfare. Thanks TLH!
Experienced Teacher Becomes Student at The Language House
September 04, 2023by: Alicia St Cyr - United StatesI am taking a year-long sabbatical from my career as a teacher in the US and was looking for a way to support my adventures in Europe while also improving my teaching skills with language learners. I chose The Language House based off the reviews, location in Prague, and all-around support they offered. After completing the program, I can say with certainty I am grateful I chose this specific program. I am a better teacher because of my time there. I have a wonderful community because of the people I met there and the support of the school. It is a fantastic way to quickly learn to teach English as a foreign language and also become familiar with life in Prague.
An incredible program
September 04, 2023by: Priya Thomas - United StatesIn January 2023 I was surfing the internet, trying to figure out a way to live and work in Europe. I stumbled upon the Language House website; nine months later, I can say with confidence that I couldn't have found a better way to achieve this goal. The Language House curriculum is thorough, well-structured, and goes above and beyond in terms of preparing you to teach English. The instruction is comprehensive, engaging, and very hands-on; you get plenty of practice teaching so that by the time you're applying to jobs, you feel more than ready to start work. Before leaving the U.S., I was skeptical that I could master a new skill in just one month, but the Language House really goes the extra mile to make sure every student succeeds. I graduated the program with so much more than just a certificate - I grew in confidence, met some amazing people, and accumulated a lot of useful knowledge about navigating life in Prague. I would highly recommend the Language House to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and move abroad.
The Most Hands-on Teaching Program
September 03, 2023by: Isaac D - United StatesEven before the start of the program, The Language House effectively builds community with its students. With a heavy emphasis on learning English grammar and building practical skills in the classroom, the program is rather challenging. But if you put in the work, TLH staff will provide constant support during and after the program. Before completing the course, there were many job opportunities open to me. Not only that, but I had the confidence to manage my own classrooms and prepare my own lessons. If you truly have the drive, enroll in this program! You will not regret it.
One of the best decisions I've ever made
September 03, 2023by: Erin Frith - CanadaIt was a big decision to join The Language House TEFL program in 2016, but it might be the best decision I've ever made! It provided me with top-notch training, support/resources, and opened up a whole new world of employment and travel possibilities for me. I now have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to support myself as a teacher of English as a foreign language abroad. I started teaching in Prague as soon as the course ended and have never looked back. This course was a truly unforgettable experience that changed my life. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Czech out this great TEFL program!
September 03, 2023by: Shellie Leach - United StatesThis program was the most intense work I’ve ever completed but also the most rewarding. The staff truly go the extra mile to make sure all their students succeed! Almost a year later I’m successfully teaching and still having the time of my life!
The Best Experience I Could’ve Hoped For & More!
September 03, 2023by: Carolina Valdivia - United StatesI attended The Language House back in March 2019. I had the ABSOLUTE best experience of my life here. The course IS difficult since it’s only 4 weeks and you really do need to study your grammar packet. But the teachers and staff are always there to help you out and answer any of your questions! The course and the people you meet during your time at TLH are all there on the same wave length as you. I made some amazing friends here and they also helped me with my visa, finding an apartment and finding a job. During the course they will have mini job fairs to help you get started on your new life in Prague (if you decide to stay). The best part about TLH though is that the owner, Chris Westergaard, genuinely CARES about every single person that walks through his school doors. He is always checking in on the alumni’s and even gives us extra free course materials. Like what other TEFL course is willing to do that?! Going to TLH will be the best decision you make! ??

Excellent TEFL training in Prague
September 03, 2023by: Lorna Phillipson - United StatesThe Language House in Prague has an extensive program, which prepares students for teaching English here - or anywhere. Knowledgeable and professional instructors. Excellent grammar sessions. Thorough practical lesson planning and teaching. Offers an in-depth Young Learners program. Staff and instructors want you to succeed. They do make you work hard for your certification! Job search and visa assistance are available. TLH school and graduates are very well respected here. I received a job after two days after I began my search. Very impressive. Prague is a terrific city!
The Language House - A course for life!
September 01, 2023by: Jonathan Curry - IrelandI participated in the May 2014 TLH TEFL course and can honestly say that this experience and the people I met there laid the foundation for a new direction and a successful life as an ex-pat in the Czech Republic (and abroad in general). From the quality of instruction and guidance to the feeling, even almost 10 years later, that the school and Chris will 'have your back' if you need help, there's really something special in that. I still apply things I learned there, I'm still in frequent contact with some of my classmates from that time and from what I can see TLH is still improving and still providing the same high quality support to trainees and grads. You will learn how to plan, to teach and to manage your time. It's a serious course, with genuine standards and for that reason I've never found it difficult to get a job in Prague with my Language House certificate behind me.
Organized, thorough, fun, essential to starting as an ESL teacher
March 26, 2023by: Curtis Nelson - United StatesThe Language House TEFL program did a fantastic job of answering all my questions prior to joining, they have a lot of expertise and a very strong teaching/expat community in Prague. The course was well-run, everything was organized and carefully planned. Student teaching was challenging but well managed during the program. This aspect is something that online programs may lack. I could tell that they have been doing this for a long time and adjust their program to changing trends, student needs, etc. The staff were all very helpful, supportive, and professional. If you have questions about teaching, finding jobs abroad, adjusting to expat life, they're ready to help you out. Post program is an important time for many TEFL graduates as well, and The Language House is very active in facilitating things for their community of graduates. Social outings, local language courses, teacher support, anything related to job-hunting is included in their continuing support. If you're thinking of getting a TEFL certification, please do it in person. Prague is a wonderful city and THL helped make my life abroad a reality.
Fantastic TEFL Course!
March 17, 2023by: Brittney K - United StatesI completed The Language House TEFL program in July 2017 and was/am very satisfied with the experience. I looked all over Europe to find a TEFL course that would give me hands-on practice, assistance with acquiring a visa and finding a job, and that had good job prospects after completing the course. I’m happy to say I found all of that and more with TLH! The course was challenging, but was very comprehensive and had great instructors. We practiced teaching three different language levels, which was invaluable, and they even had a Young Learners certification that I took advantage of. I would (and do) recommend this course to anyone interested in obtaining their TEFL certificate!
This is a rigorous, but fun course that is worth your money!
March 14, 2023by: George Mead - United StatesWhen I was researching TEFL courses, I was worried about finding myself in a diploma mill. I graduated law school and practiced for a little bit before deciding I wanted to teach and travel, but was concerned I would end up paying thousands of dollars for a bs course. This is NOT a bs TEFL certificate. Monday-Thursday I was at school from 9am-8pm either in class, lesson planning for instruction, or instructing adult students in the classroom. I was also fairly busy on the weekends with homework and preparing for the week ahead. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, I was blown away by the rigorous academic standards they expect of their students. One of the main instructors has a graduate degree in applied linguistics and is very good at making the mechanics of English grammar accessible while giving you the confidence to teach it. Everyone has decades of experience in teaching English and it shows. Also, the support and camaraderie of the Language House community is amazing. While the course is difficult and demands a lot of your time, there are many alumni and staff who make themselves available to provide support with the course, lesson planning, visa help, finding accommodations, as well as having fun! I would absolutely take this course again and would recommend it for anyone interested in getting a TEFL to teach and travel.
TEFLing in Prague
February 28, 2023by: Alicia Bulai - FijiMy experience with The Language House was life changing. It was my first time abroad solo, and coming from a small island in the Pacific, I was a bit reserved and skeptical about this all. However, from the start until the end, Chris and his lovely crew were there to answer my questions and guide me along. The course work was really easy to comprehend, and the instructors were fun and loving, especially Andrea :) With The Language...you will never go wrong if you're thinking of doing a TEFL course abroad, and or moving abroad.

Become the best ESL teacher with The Language House!
February 21, 2023by: Gabriela Burwell - United StatesI’d been thinking of taking this course for many years and TLH was always at the top of my list. Chris Westergaard, Chris Fox, Radka, Stacy, and the entire staff are all so knowledgeable and supportive! At 52, I don’t regret going to Prague and spending 4 weeks taking this intense course. We all worked hard every day, during the classes and lesson plan preparation, giving classes, getting feedback, and doing it all over the next day. It’s never too late!
Incredible staff and course!
February 20, 2023by: Xavier Newbery - United KingdomI took The Language House TEFL Course from November to December, 2022. It was an incredible experience. From the start, they made everyone feel really comfortable as a group, and clearly set down their expectations for us as teachers. I loved that they threw us right into teaching by the end of the first week as it meant that we had to apply the teaching theory right away. For anyone looking to get a TEFL qualification, I highly recommend this course, but must emphasise that it's something you have to take seriously and is extremely intensive. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the standards of professionalism, staff support and the resources we had access to (and still have access to as graduates). They've built a truly amazing community in and outside of Prague. If you're thinking of trying teaching out, don't hesitate to take this course :)
Sooo worth it!!
February 19, 2023by: Lucy Jefferson - United StatesI am so glad I took this course before I started teaching abroad! It is pretty intensive, but it’s so worth it. Taking this course made me so much more confident going into my first job. Also, they really focus on grammar which I appreciated because I learned things about English that I didn’t even know (as a native English speaker). I use the skills that I learned during this course everyday, so thank you TLH!! Also, the instructors and everyone in the course were awesome!
Learning from the Language House was one of the best decisions I've ever made
February 18, 2023by: Todd McElwain - United StatesI am thrilled to provide a positive review of The Language House in Prague, as it was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, providing me with all the resources and support I needed to succeed in my English teaching course. One of the best things I've ever done was enrolling in The Language House program. Not only did I gain valuable skills in teaching English as a foreign language, but I also had the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich and vibrant culture of Prague. The program was challenging, but also incredibly rewarding, and I felt like I was making progress every day. The staff at The Language House was simply fantastic. They were always available to answer my questions and provide guidance when I needed it. Their expertise in teaching English was evident, and they were able to provide me with a wealth of knowledge and insights that I would not have been able to gain on my own. I wish i could mention every single one of them, but for sure Chris Foxwell and Chris Westergaard are two of the best teachers that I've had in my life. As far as observers, both of the Jakes pushed me to be better than I thought I could be and Stacy helped me when I thought I was lost. The support the staff gave me was vital to my continued success as a teacher. Thanks to the excellent training I received at The Language House, I was able to secure a job before the course was even complete. This is a testament to the quality of the program and the dedication of the staff. I am now working as an English teacher and am confident in my ability to provide high-quality instruction to my students. Overall, I cannot recommend The Language House enough. If you are looking for an immersive and rewarding experience that will help you learn about teaching English and gain valuable skills, then The Language House is the perfect choice. The knowledgeable staff, immersive culture, and job opportunities make this program an excellent investment in your future.

I loved it! It helped me find my place in a new country
February 17, 2023by: Lara Mae Neumanová - United StatesThe TEFL course has an option for teach young students. I opted to get the Young Learners certifation as well. This has opened up many doors for me to teach in schools. It should be noted that the program is rather tough, but it needs to be. To make up for the toughness everyone there will help you anyway they can. They also help with getting all your paperwork in order to stay in the country. This course is a 10 out of 10 and I would totally do it again.
Best TEFL certification course in the world!
December 09, 2022by: Justin Bennett - United StatesHaving a Ph.D. in Bilingual Education and twenty years of Spanish and English language teaching experience, I thought I knew my stuff when it came to second language acquisition and pedagogy…But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. During my time as a student in the four-week TEFL certification course at The Language House TEFL, I received more education about how to be an effective language teacher than I did during all of my years of undergraduate and graduate schooling. Chris Westergaard, Chris Foxwell, and company are the ones who truly know their stuff. In fact, they have more expertise and experience in the field of language teaching than the vast majority of university academics with whom I’ve worked. As highly qualified as they are as teacher trainers, each member of The Language House TEFL is an incredible person as well. They go above and beyond to help support every student enrolled in the course, be it with the educational material itself, the employment search, or the adjustment to a new life in, what will be for many, a foreign land. I am eternally grateful to everyone at The Language House TEFL. And there are a few individuals who have continued to help and guide me as I attempt to move my life to Prague, a city with which I have fallen completely in love. Jitka, Sandra, and Stacy have done more for me than even they know. And I would like to take the opportunity here to thank them publicly for that. So, if you’ve decided that you’re truly ready to earn a TEFL certificate, look no further than The Language House TEFL.
Enjoyable and busy (an extra bit)
October 14, 2022by: Judy McLaughlin - AustraliaI forgot to mention the support TLH provided with living in Prague, which was one of the main reasons I signed up for the course. As well as this, I made friends with others on the course. These things are invaluable when you're moving from the other side of the world and don't know a soul.
Enjoyable and busy
October 13, 2022by: Judy McLaughlin - AustraliaI moved to Prague in April this year and did the TEFL course at The Language House. It was an enjoyable and busy month. There was plenty of work and learning to be done and we had some crazy fun along the way. The content of the course and its delivery were good. All the staff were friendly and helpful and I received plenty of constructive criticism. I am now working in Prague as an English teacher and enjoying being here.
Solid program and a GREAT way to start your journey abroad
October 05, 2022by: Michael Westfield - United StatesI attended The Language House back in January of 2017 and am still here in Prague. The course was vital to starting my life abroad and learning how to teach English. As a native speaker I knew English but they showed us how to TEACH it and explain it which opened my eyes. They made connecting with people here in Prague easier also you are part of a community and there are power in numbers. Their Facebook group can offer everything from recommendations from other TLH alum about dentist in Prague to items for sale to job opportunities. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this program and experience.

Just do it!!!!
September 05, 2022by: Lori Steele - United StatesThe Language House was not just a course. It was a family. A family of current and former students. The course was hard but so worth it. I researched many courses and The Language House seemed to offer the most. It did not disappoint. From the moment I contacted Chris about wanting to take the course to know that I am working they have been there every step of the way. Oh and did I mention I’m 60 years old. The Language House is the place to go. And, Prague is a beautiful city.
The best!
September 04, 2022by: Stephen Brindle - United StatesMy time here was great! It was truly an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with whatever you might need. Even after you graduate they have a ton of assistance from either general advice to connecting you with potential employers. I can’t recommend them enough!
Couldn’t be happier!
October 27, 2021by: Matthew Kraus - United StatesI am a recent graduate of the Language House and I could not be happier with my experience. The pre-course guidance made me feel confident and comfortable making such a drastic life-change. The course has an incredible staff who are all extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The course is quite intense, but it has thoroughly prepared me for anything that I might encounter in the workplace. The post-course job guidance is also incredibly helpful. There are multiple posts daily about job openings with honest reviews. The majority of my class found jobs within 1-2 weeks. And lastly, the community that the Language House has built is incredible. Moving across the world can get lonely, but it’s comforting to know that I’ll always have the Language House community there for me. If you’re on the fence, just take the leap! The Language House will catch you with open and loving arms.

Really great hands on experience!
February 09, 2020by: Joseph Hoff - American SamoaI initially signed up for this program not knowing much about the school. All I can say is I have no regrets! The teachers are amazing. The accommodation was great. They really help you find a job. I really recommend this to anyone looking to teach in Europe!

Definitely not boring !
December 25, 2019by: Lavinia Izvernari - PortugalIt was a very intensive course ! But definitely not boring ! The Language House has smart, funny teachers that explain by doing (which is the best method of teaching ) , we were provided with all the information needed in a book given to each one of us at the beginning of the course to organize our thoughts . A grammar course one month ahead (which we still have access to, even after finishing the curse ) was a great idea to get us prepared to actually teaching grammar - it can be harder than you think! The location was great ! Right in the middle of the city center , after teaching , I got to enjoy the freedom of going for a walk and see the beautiful streets of Prague ...listen to street musicians that come to Prague to share their talent.. Honestly , all in all it was hard , but worth it ! The students we had ( the Czech people that applied for the 9 classes ) they were all so different , and fun to teach . Excited to learn and so willing to participate! We had to prepare our own lesson plans , which made us realize and appreciate all the effort that must be put into teaching , it also gave us freedom to explore different topics from the subjectivity of art to conspiracy theories and manipulation in advertisement . The supervisors were there to give us feedback , but one thing you should keep in mind is that you must be willing to learn. We were learning how to teach after all . Personally , I had almost given up the last week .. but I am thankful that my supervisor noticed it and reminded me how important teaching is by giving me some extra work where I had to prove that I do care.
Top notch course
December 21, 2019by: Mary Eldred - United StatesAs a retired educator, I've spent a lifetime critiquing educational programs. I have only highest praise for the Language House TEFL program in Prague. The instructors are knowledgeable, effective, and personable. They hold high standards for all participants and provide a comprehensive program, but educationally as well as socially. The welcoming aspect of the Language House was very much appreciated; get togethers with alumni, trips around the city and outlying areas, holiday parties, etc. etc. Being an alumni of The Language House makes me proud!
Best decision ever
December 20, 2019by: Siti Jamil - MalaysiaTLH has the best staff and training you could ever ask for. 5 years on and I’m happily thriving and loving my life as a TEFL teacher and I couldn’t have done it without their incredible work. The community is really supportive and helpful, and just the other week I needed to clarify something and they got back to me immediately. Just goes to show how much they care for their teachers and trainees long after they’ve graduated. To this day, some of the best lesson and classroom ideas have come from the course and I always refer back to old classroom videos as a refresher.
Above & beyond
December 20, 2019by: Jessie Chung - CanadaThe Language House really goes above and beyond. Not only was the course itself super comprehensive and thorough, the staff at trainers at The Language House made sure that you had everything at your disposal to not only succeed in the course, but to get yourself adjusted to living and working in the Czech Republic afterwards. Their service extends beyond helping you with accommodation during your course but also giving recommendations to places you could find housing afterwards if you intend to stay. With a myriad of resources on hand, from teaching materials and an alumni network to job presentations, visa assistance and a team of incredible instructors TLH, just take the dive and step out on an adventure, you'll have all the tools you need to be successful.
Never looked back
December 20, 2019by: Carl Svoboda - United StatesThe best decision of my life. Never looked back. Met so many good people. This course and the teaching jobs following it have me the skills to enable me to move on to do things I've always wanted to. Now living in Switzerland.
An unforgettable, rewarding, and experience
December 19, 2019by: Rina Wakefield - United StatesThe Language House in Prague was a fantastic stepping stone for those who want to gain the knowledge and hands on learning towards a career of teaching english as as second language. The staff were very informative, flexible, and created a comfortable learning environment. The work was rigorous, but helped build a sold foundation of skills, confidence, and lesson content creation. Now, Prague is absolutely spectacular. The school is centrally located which made lunches at nearby cafes, strolls through the area very easy and enjoyable. The city's architecture, accessibility, and beauty is hard to match. The people you meet in your program as well as the local alumni give you a sense of community and a built in network which makes it much easier to adjust. The school and staff also provide information and connections to other countries if you're not planning on staying in Prague. If you do stay in argue, they puffer excellent help with the Visa process. The guidance, friendships, location and classroom learning were top notch! And the course was very affordable considering all of the benefits you receive. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for adventure, a life change, or just looking for something new and exciting.
The best TEFL course with real world guidance
December 19, 2019by: Amelia Smith - United StatesThe Language House TEFL in Prague not only prepared me to teach abroad but for life in a new country. The instructors, staff, and owner are people who care for their graduates and provide so much assistance post course to successfully begin a life abroad. The course itself is challenging in a great way. I felt extremely well prepared after graduating and beginning my first teaching role abroad. Not only did the course provide me with solid TEFL educational knowledge but visa assistance, housing support, career assistance, financial planning assistance, and the ability to communicate with hundreds of graduated from TLH just like me. The alumni network alone is one of a kind and something I utilize often in my daily life abroad. The Language House TEFL is the only course to choose.
Unforgettable part of my life
December 19, 2019by: Micah Medina - United StatesI met so many wonderful people and had such a good time. This was not easy and not just a vacation. The course at TLH was hard work and pushed me to my limits making it so rewarding in the end. I think I may have gotten lucky to be with the September class because the chemistry between everyone in was remarkable. The teachers and staff at TLH were so helpful and so friendly. I wish I could rewind time and do it all over again.
Life changing
December 19, 2019by: Mary-Kate Murphy - United StatesThis course changed my life forever. I was in the need of a great adventure, but I was scared to make the jump without the right support system. I decided to pursue an in person TEFL course so I would have a more in depth experience, but also so I would have a community and a family around me during this huge adjustment. TLH goes above and beyond to take care of it’s students during their stay. The housing option alone was enough of a selling point for me. Not having to worry about housing or making friends right away helped me focus and settle in straight away. All of my classmates and teachers were helpful, open-minded, and supportive. The staff will help you with anything you may need outside of school, including doctor’s recommendations, help with housing, etc. Any fears or worries I had disappeared as soon as I met everyone. The course itself is intense and thorough, but I felt more than capable and prepared after graduating. It is worth all the effort. On top of it all, these people really want you to succeed. They will do everything in their power to help you get through this course. This school is the best out there, end of story! Go, go, go!

Best decision I ever made
December 19, 2019by: Anne Marie Lane - United StatesThe Language House Prague completely changed my life for the better! They provided me with a massive community of expats that I regularly meet with a year and a half after the program. It is a tight knit, supportive community. The program itself is full of laughs and good people. I learned a lot and it really helped me to be a better teacher on my own. TLH also helped immensely with transitioning into life here in Prague. I'm eternally grateful!
Great TEFL course and experience in Prague
December 19, 2019by: Stanley O’Dell - United StatesAttended and successfully passed this four-week TEFL teaching course at the premiere language school in Prague. Everything from the course curriculum to the quality of the instructors and observers was first-rate and highly professional. The actual teaching experience one gains during the course was excellent practice for beginning a teaching career as an English teacher. The Language House has a well-earned reputation for excellence, and my experience there in November-December 2019 was confirmation for me of that excellence on the part of the school. Classroom work was interesting and was presented in the most engaging format. The school conducts its classes using the same communicative elicitation approach that it imparts to its students for how to become the best teachers themselves. To graduate from the school, one must teach at least 11 English lessons; nine in a group/classroom environment, and two lessons one-to-one. The homework assigned on top of this keeps the students very busy during the four weeks. It’s a highly intensive course. But it is well worth it. Students also receive three lessons in the Czech language, and a large amount of effort is put into helping students with the practicalities of becoming a new English teacher in central Europe and elsewhere. A number of schools that operate in Prague and are seeking new teachers are invited to come in during the four weeks to meet and recruit from the current students. The school also works in several social events during the four weeks to connect the current students to alumni who are still living and working in Prague, for networking, and there is even a tour of Prague at the commencement of the course. Practical help with housing and transportation passes for the Prague public transit systems are also included. This was really a complete program in every sense, and well worth the time and expense. It was a great month in the Czech Republic!
TLH Prague was an amazing experience!
December 19, 2019by: Bethany Ruoss - United StatesThe Langue House was absolutely amazing! They were so helpful with every aspect of moving abroad and made it feel like home from the very first day. Through the course I gained confidence in myself and my teaching abilities. I met lifelong friends and made so many new experiences. I was scared to move to a new country and live with girls I didn’t know, but TLH paired my roommates perfectly and we felt like sisters from the very first day. The course is intensive but the trainers and staff are the there to help every step of the way. I had the best experience in Prague with The Language House.
The best there is!
December 16, 2019by: Kirk Hahn - United StatesBest TEFL course in Prague! Great instructors, live class teaching, and continued assistance after graduation. You will feel comfortable taking on a classroom of students from all ages and backgrounds.
Great experience!
December 14, 2019by: Thea Erwin - United StatesThe course itself is really difficult, but was such a rewarding experience. I went in with little to no experience in teaching ESL (and particularly with the use of ESA methodology), but at the end of every week I felt more and more comfortable and confident. Yes, it's a lot of work, but it's completely proportionate to the quality of teacher the program molds you into. Teaching isn't easy; if there's one thing I understand more from this program, it's that teaching is A LOT of work, but very rewarding in the end. You can tell that the instructors and observers genuinely care about education and are committed to sending qualified, good teachers off into the world, and their support was endless. I never felt like I couldn't come to someone with an issue or a question I had, and that sense of comfort was a true gift during this course. Will this course make you a little crazy by week 4? Absolutely. Is it totally worth it? Absolutely.
Even an ‘oldie’ can learn new skills
December 14, 2019by: Athene Westergaard - United StatesI took the course a few years ago at the age of 73 because I love languages and travel and wanted to be able to teach as a volunteer. The classes were challenging and it was strange being the grandma to so many young people , but the staff was wonderful and accommodating and went out of their way to help me. The students welcomed me as a classmate and after clearing the cobwebs from my brain I actually learned how to teach and received my certificate. It was an amazing adventure.
The Language House Prague is the best!
December 13, 2019by: Emori Medeiros - United StatesI took The Language House TEFL course 5 years ago. It was the best experience of my life. The actual course is thorough, provides tons of hands on teaching practice, and is fun! The extra support is what makes this course unique - job assistance, internal visa company, housing assistance, help getting public transportation passes, alumni discount cards, help opening bank accounts, etc. It is truly an “all-inclusive program.” There aren’t any other TEFL programs that go above and beyond quite like TLH!
Making friends from all over the world!
December 12, 2019by: Zach Flaherty - United StatesThe program is a well oiled machine. Many of the instructors have lived and worked for the program for years. The program goes beyond the classroom. They focus on building community through planned outings. The coursework is rigorous, yet engaging. The staff does a great job of supporting TEFL attendees along the way. Part of the program is actual teaching to Czech nationals, which I found to be very helpful. I also received assistance (tutoring) with the grammar test. Since I left Prague I have stayed in network with the school and graduates. I commonly see job postings and know if I ever want to venture back to Prague or look for jobs elsewhere, The Language House staff would help me along the way. I loved the program and would recommend the course to anyone not just looking for a great program, but joining an awesome community as well!

My gap year
December 12, 2019by: Beatrice Crocker - United StatesDecision to take a gap year and get my TEFL was totally validated by this amazing opportunity!!! TLH is amazing at coordinating housing during and after the course, I chose to live in student housing and was always surrounded by good friends and exciting events!!! The support staff is amazingly intelligent and knowledgable. The experience teaching within the course is invaluable!
Highlight of my life
December 12, 2019by: Dominik Kropacek - CanadaEasily one of my best experiences abroad. Travelling for the past 4 years I've always looked to have a community of friends and live in an incredible city. The Language House did all of that and then some. The amount of support they give their students and graduates is incredible and there's a reason why people end up staying in Prague for years and years and a big part of it is due to the community TLH has built in Prague. I've been gone for half a year and already miss it so much. Applying for my European passport as we speak just so I can go back! -Dom
Best decision I ever made
December 12, 2019by: Shannon Nichols - United StatesNot only is Prague an amazing city, but the program is next level. All the training and support you would want and need when moving abroad to teach English. Fully prepare students to get jobs at language schools or private schools. Plus the community of past students is so encouraging and fun... You instantly have a circle of friends/family while away from home.
A month filled with great learning potential
December 12, 2019by: Tiziana Heck - GermanyThe communication has been very strong from the beginning on when I first got in touch with the team to ask about further information regarding the month-long programme. Then, during the course and also after graduating from The Language House the support has been incredible. I highly recommend The Language House for your TEFL certificate.
Good courses
December 12, 2019by: John Svensson - SwedenLiked my experience. I would recommend it to others looking to get tefl certified. Good mix of learning, fun, etc from the whole team. I would say it's an awesome choice for tefl classes. They want me to write more than 200 words, so this part is just to fulfill that. I tend to be shirt and concise in my writing and I don't feel the need to write more when I have covered what I wanted to.
Best decision!
December 11, 2019by: Brittany Bolling - United StatesTaking the TEFL course through The Language House was the best decision I’ve ever made. They helped make moving abroad easy and friendly. The instructors are all very nice and helpful, and it’s a great way to find a community in another country.
The best summer of my life!
December 11, 2019by: Emily Griffin - United StatesThe Language House was an amazing experience for me! I was already teaching in the US and figured why not spend a summer learning a new school in a beautiful place like Prague, and I’m so glad I did! The course is structured well and I am so glad we had the opportunity to actually teach different groups of people. Even though I was already a teacher I learned new strategies and techniques that I took back with me to my job in the US. Prague is the perfect place to live if you’re a travel newbie like I was, and I miss it a ton! I’m so glad I chose the Language House.

Amazing TEFL course!
December 11, 2019by: Katie Fortney - United StatesI applied to TLH on a whim, assuming I wouldn't be accepted because I did not hold a bachelor's degree. After talking with the director over the phone, I was accepted to the program. I obviously had a poor relationship with school, but had an amazing experience with TLH. Not only was the staff fun and informative, but I made some great friends and was able to enjoy the beautiful city of Prague!
Awesome choice for a TEFL program! No regrets!
December 11, 2019by: Juliann Beals - United StatesThe Language House Prague was such an amazing choice that helped me launch my life in Europe. I didn't know how I could possibly be prepared to become an English teacher in just a month, but TLH program was well thought out and structured. It was totally doable in that time frame. I graduated the course knowing that I could make a living in Prague. And I have (just over two years so far and no end in sight! Yay!) Yes, everyone had to work hard, but we also got to do lots of fun stuff on our off times. I'm so grateful that I took the leap to sign up for this course and move to Prague. The extensive alumni network here in the city and abroad is impressive and a huge perk! Everyone helps each other out. So great to be part of a community like this. I also made lifetime friendships from the course, and you can't really beat that, now can you?!

Fantastic experience
December 11, 2019by: Katie Draffin - United StatesWhat a fantastic course! With all of their help and guidance, I felt more than ready to find a job and start teaching after the course. They had so many resources available and were able to answer any question not only about teaching but living in a new country as well. I would not have been able to move to Prague without them.
Did what it was supposed to
November 20, 2019by: Tom frank - United StatesI signed up to a TEFL course with TLH and they were friendly and experienced and offered a great network after graduation. Definitely satisfied with the product I received. If you want to come to Prague to take your TEFL this is not a bad option for you.
Life changing experience
November 18, 2019by: Alex Karavas - United StatesI took this course on whim, and threw myself head first into it. Without a doubt The Language House was the best experience of my life and opens an incredible amount of doors. From moving into student housing and meeting my roommates who within days became some of my best friends. People I will be in contact for the rest of my life. To the instructors who push you and want to see you succeed but at the same time are an incredible foundation and if you have any problems at all they will make time in their day to help you out and make sure you are ok. They know moving across the world is extremely stressful, but they do everything in their power to make the transition easy that even includes champagne and chocolates when you move in! The 4 week program can be very challenging at times but the instructors understand this and treat you to beers and incredible activities on the weekends as they want you not only to learn to teach, but enjoy this once and a lifetime experience. If you are on the fence, at a crossroads, or find yourself like me after college graduation with no plan in sight. Do your self a favor and take a chance through The Language House. Don't settle for any other school in Prague, they will not match up to the services offered through job guidance, visa assistance, CV creation assistance, and overall the personalities every instructor has. This is an experience you don't want to miss out on! It truly will change your path in life!

Awesome TEFL experience!
November 18, 2019by: Zoe Sinay - United StatesI attended the October 2019 Language House TEFL program and I absolutely loved the experience. The TEFL program was intense but had a supportive staff, dedicated to helping you succeed. During the week I learned an immense amount of knowledge around teaching English to foreign learners and was able to plan and implement a variety of different lessons. Each lesson I taught was observed by a teacher and my peers and though it was overwhelming at first I appreciated the feedback. The staff created a really nice learning environment and rapport with the students. I met many people and made new friends while I attended the program as well. Even though the program was intense I was able to explore Prague and go to different places on the weekends. It was a lot of work and at times it was stressful, but everyone was in it together and that is what helped me get through the course.
Great experience!
November 18, 2019by: Roksan Mandel - SpainThe Language House is a unique TEFL course with its excellent teachers and staff members! Even though I completed the course over a year ago, I still feel like I'm welcome there any time I need something. It's not only about teaching you how to become a teacher but also helps you to integrate into a new country. They provide housing/orientation/city tour during the course. They give you tips about how to find a job or housing after the course ends. I recommend the course to anyone who would like to become an English teacher.
THL is great!
November 18, 2019by: Jane Neuhoff - United StatesI really enjoyed my experience with the language house. I came into the program knowing nothing about teaching and felt confident in my abilities by the end. Personally, I think the best part of the program is the job assistance. I never had to independently go look for jobs online because so many were posted on our facebook page. I finished the program with a job secured.
Best TEFL certification course I could've asked for!
November 18, 2019by: Alys Landeros - United StatesThe Language House TEFL Course in Prague exceeded every and all expectations I had for completing my TEFL certification. The quality of teaching, staff, resources, location and methodology is outstanding and I am so grateful I chose this program. The days are long, but I've never had so much fun under so much stress. Everyday is full of fun and engaging learning, and the teaching practice in the classroom is great. I loved this experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for TEFL certification!
Best possible experience
November 18, 2019by: Alison Balcom - CanadaAfter graduating from university, I was lost and unsure of what to do. I decided to pursue teaching English abroad, and there is no question in my mind that I picked the best possible course. Not only did I acquire a valuable certification, but I found a new family and community abroad.
Fantastic course! Highly recommend!
November 12, 2019by: Anonymous Anonymous - United StatesThe Language House TEFL Course is a great TEFL course. The practical help and live teaching experience is irreplaceable. The instructors are there to push you onward, but also to help you and answer any questions you have. They offer so much more than expected from a TEFL course. If you are thinking about teaching overseas, I highly recommend The Language House.
Best course I’ve heard of
October 26, 2019by: Maddie Forshee - United StatesTLH is a great program. From pre-application until years after graduation, they bring you into the community and make sure you feel welcome and comfortable. I know people who have graduated from other courses and the level of support, the closeness of the community and the quality of the programs do not compare to The Language House.
One of the best experiences I have had while traveling
October 26, 2019by: parker wilkinson - United StatesThe Prague Language House makes felt like a family. The teaching is top-notch. I learned how to structure my lessons and techniques to become an effective teacher. This program has brought me success in my career as an ESL teacher. The program was also an extremely fun time. Living with other students and going out on activities with the TEFL house make it memorable. The staff is great with helping you get set up after the program if you want to stay in Prague. Chris, who runs the program, is an amazing guy and genuinely cares about his work. If you want to get a good education, meet and make connections, and live/experience in one of the most stunning cities on earth...this is the program for you.
They really care about your success
October 26, 2019by: Paul Evans - United StatesI was amazed how much assistance all the instructors gave on off days or anytime I needed help. Great course I would recommend them to anyone who wants to takes a TEFL course abroad. I had the best time.
TLH Prague is the ultimate TEFL course
October 26, 2019by: Christian Willey - United StatesI loved every second of The Language House Prague. It was tough, for sure, but I learned a lot. Because the class is located in Prague, it’s easy to work hard and have fun (and TLH helps in that regard with super fun class outings) and TLH’s reputation in the city and extensive network of alumni makes it easy to start working immediately after graduation. The Language House Prague changed my life, giving me the tools and resources to go anywhere in the world.
Ready for the job market!
October 26, 2019by: Jen W - United StatesThe course is tough; be prepared to work incredibly hard and step way out of your comfort zone. But for someone who has never lived abroad, TLH makes the transition as smooth as possible. They provide assistance with job hunting, interviewing, and house hunting. They also maintain a close network of people to help you every step of the way.
A mind-melting experience
October 26, 2019by: forrest ott - United StatesThe Language House was a crash course of awesomeness. From day one I felt welcomed, encouraged and like I mattered. I felt completely prepared to teach English after a highly intensive month-long course. I still use the skills taught to me at The Language House every day in my job! WHERE I TEACH ENGLISH! My class became a family and many of us are very close one year later!! You teach real students of different ranges and you have a blast doing it. The Language House is also the creator of The Long Arm. I honestly don't know how I made it through this final test but cant imagine teaching English without it. The Long Arm was easily the hardest part of the entire course and I don't know how the visionary mind of Chris Westergaard even came up with the damned thing. The Language House: we cried, we laughed, we tefled.
Fantastic way to build a network
October 26, 2019by: Nik Thorell - United StatesTLH is an amazing way to move abroad and find new friends fast. The school does an incredible job of networking students to each other and to others. They try really hard to give you everything you need to succeed in your move abroad. If you have the initiative and the resolve to challenge yourself in moving to Prague, this is the way to do it!
Great TEFL course
October 26, 2019by: Nick Koszewski - United StatesI went into this course nervous that I had no teaching experience but The Language House taught me all I need to know about teaching and gave me the confidence to implement their practices. The opportunity to teach real students gave me the confidence to go out and not worry about finding a job. If you want to teach English abroad, The Language House is a program I highly recommend!
I had a great time and feel well-prepared!
October 26, 2019by: Aviva Glassman - United StatesThe weekend before classes began at The Language House, we got a fun, informative, and social introduction to Prague led by a TLH alum. Then, when classes started, I found the curriculum pertinent and the instructors engaging. Really, I loved all of our instructors! They are all super knowledgeable, fun, and supportive. Chris Westergaard, the program director, makes time to talk with any participant who needs help before and during the program, and he shares a lot of useful, honest tips about living and teaching in Prague and elsewhere. An interesting part of the course that I absolutely loved was learning Czech (three lessons) for the sake of understanding how to teach English to beginners. It was eye-opening to be a language beginner again and get in the minds of some of our own students. During the course, we each taught nine group lessons, and that was an extremely valuable experience. TLH brings in real English learners, and the observers give us new teachers highly valuable feedback and redirection. It really felt like the observers cared about our success as teachers and were honest about what we needed to do. Aside from providing quality course content, TLH brought in representatives from different teaching companies to inform us about job opportunities. TLH also provides a ton of support in terms of finding housing and acquiring legal status in the Czech Republic. And, TLH holds tons of fun social events for current students and alumni! Now, I feel like I have a great network of friends and teachers. I'm really glad I chose TLH and feel like I've been given so many tools to succeed. It's 110% worth it and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!
TLH helped me live my dream abroad
October 26, 2019by: Kali Koller - United StatesI made an almost impulse decision to move to Europe after hearing about The Language House from a girl i met on an airplane. It was an amazing place to get started learning so you could find a job, a great community of alumni, and some great teachers that are dedicated to the community. I have now been living here for a year and a half. It has been a great ride that I’m glad I jumped into!
I cannot recommend this course enough!
October 20, 2019by: Kelly Baar - United StatesTLH IS AMAZING! From the moment you sign up for the course to post-graduation, you will be guided and assisted in so many aspects: grammar, teaching, visa, housing, job hunts, and literally anything that comes up during your time here! The instructors truly want you to succeed and although they make you work hard for you certification, when you graduate, you WILL be ready and confident to teach. I know multiple people who have done online TEFL courses or even other in person courses and nothing they did compares to what you will do at TLH. In this course, you learn how to teach, you learn what to teach, you meet 20+ new friends who will likely be staying in Prague after your course (an instant friend group of likeminded people), and 10+ instructors and observers not only knowledgable about the teaching and how to be a great teacher but also about the city and life in Prague. TLH sets up many events including holiday parties, bar gatherings, meet the alumni/new students at the beginning of every course, a graduation party open to all past graduates at the end of every course, and many other networking events. By choosing to get your TEFL Certification at TLH, you will be setting yourself up to succeed and you will be joining a network of over 1,000 graduates. If you are even slightly considering getting your TEFL Certification, TLH is the place to do it. TLH opens so many doors for you, and I hope everyone can go to TLH and have the great experience that I did!
This is how you TEFL
October 14, 2019by: Steve Beaty - United StatesChoosing The Language House in Prague for your TEFL accreditation program is, and was, to me, an investment in the people who own and run the program themselves. I came across their website over a year ago, researching TEFL programs in general, and what immediately stood out to me was how friendly, polished, professional, and ultimately impressive the collective group of staff members and owners were- and that extended far beyond the website itself. They are still all of those things, and more. The owners ARE the teachers, the staff, and the support group that you are becoming a part of, as a community. At various points during my September course, I had to lean on the TLH staff for help with a number of things, often extending beyond learning to teach English as a foreign language. I can tell you outright, every person that works for TLH cares, and they care about you as a person. They put in countless hours within and outside the program to help their students learn, find housing, acquire their visas, search for jobs, and even work through personal struggles that aren't related to the program. They provide extras all the time, things they pay for as a business that they don't have to- practice grammar tests, food, tea, coffee, tours, outings at restaurants or bars. They coordinate and pay for these outings and social events to help acclimate you to Prague, to the people in your program, and to the people who will be guiding you through the process of acquiring your TEFL certification. It's part of their business model, and who they are as people, to a person. I can say without hesitation that I would not have had anything close to that experience somewhere else, and somewhere else, I would have most likely felt like a number instead of a person. The Language House is a community in every sense of the word. Even now, as I type as an alumni, I am still a part of their program, and I and my classmates have been invited to a social event for the new class, who is now in their second week. The Language House believes in extending their resources to their students, even after graduation, and they allow us to come back in to use their facilities, copiers, printers, old lesson plans, library, you name it. They maintain Facebook and social media pages designed to help you continue your education, find teaching opportunities, locate roommates or housing, or even just to enjoy cultural events around Prague. If you see a TLH staff member outside of the facility, they will stop and talk with you, genuinely, and because they want to know how you are. The staff are experienced, exceptionally talented and intelligent people, and they have all taught TEFL for long periods of time. They also happen to have great senses of humor, and as a student, I appreciated that immensely, because time flies when you're having fun. I left every class thinking, "These are folks who get it, and they aren't just good at what they do, they're exceptionally good at it- that's why their business has been so successful for so many years." Those same teachers are also your observers, and they bring a cache of knowledge to your student teaching (which gives you the opportunity to practice the skills they are teaching you instead of just discussing it in a classroom, and with real language learners in real classroom settings) that goes beyond just "how." TLH staff members model the very things they are teaching you, as they teach them. They aren't just talking the talk, they are walking the walk, and have been, in many cases, for over a decade or more, sometimes closer to two. When a TLH staff member shows you a video of themselves teaching, or shares their lesson plans with you, or helps you with your own lesson planning, gives you feedback on classwork or homework, or as was the case upon graduation, gives you the benefit of websites and resources that scaffold and support your own future development, they're giving you a piece of their own life experiences, knowledge, and ultimately, their successes, which they have earned and honed over time. As a student, you are always given detailed feedback, support, encouragement, and the truth about what it takes to work abroad as a TEFL teacher. I always felt like extensive time was given to each student's coursework, and that every staff member I interacted with was working at capacity to make sure that they gave 100% effort towards me as a person. They will invite you to their own classrooms, hold extra sessions outside of class time, correspond with you outside of work hours, make appointments to help you facilitate things within the program itself, help you with your CV (resume), coach you for interviews, visa and job, and again, I believe, truly want their program to breed nothing but successful TEFL teachers. I am beyond glad that I chose TLH as a program, and I think that anyone who wants to teach abroad, whether you want to stay and live in Prague as I do, should come here for the TLH program, because you will get the highest quality experience you can, and after that, your skills and accreditation will be a valuable and transferable commodity that you can utilize anywhere in the world. You will be confident that you learned from people who know exactly what they are talking about, and have exceptional business and personal relationships with the community at large, and abroad. As usual, I have become long-winded, and probably redundant in a few spots, but I think all of these things are worth sharing, and noting, for those who might be considering making this decision. On a final note, if you have questions, the TLH staff members make themselves accessible to potential students BEFORE they sign up, and they create a fluid process that helps you prepare for the experience before you get here, throughout the program itself, and afterwards. Reach out to them, and you'll see: The Language House is the only choice to make for a TEFL program.
I had a wonderful time!
October 13, 2019by: Cara Settle - United StatesThe Language House is one of the best decisions I've made in my life! If you are thinking about doing a TEFL course, do it through a program. Do not do it online!! The Language House was intense and fun, and I made some really wonderful memories and friends through it!
Very fulfilling experience
September 12, 2019by: Caleb Byers - United StatesI can honestly say it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. This course was more challenging than I expected. And that's a good thing! The staff had very high expectations. They will challenge you and then they will do everything they can to help you take on that challenge. Their genuine interest to produce effective English teachers was evident. The professionalism and passion with which they operated was exemplary. Their ability to teach the methodology was excellent. I can only highly recommend Prague and the Language House as an ideal destination to start an experience abroad. The city is great! The school is a very central location. The support you receive is fantastic. Overall a very, very good experience.
Awesome TEFL course!
September 10, 2019by: Laura Manspeaker - United StatesI really enjoyed the TEFL course at The Language House! The staff and instructors were all really helpful and always willing to give advice about life in Prague. Between the classes, practice teaching, and feedback from instructors, you learn a lot about teaching English! The course is definitely intense and requires a lot of effort, but it really helps prepare you to teach. The Language House also organizes a lot of events for trainees to explore Prague and meet course alumni. There's a great sense of community among course grads. I would definitely recommend this program!
The way to get TEFL certified
September 08, 2019by: Lily Block - United StatesI’m so thankful I chose to become TEFL and YLT certified through the Language House! The course is intense, but really fun & prepares you well for the teaching world. The teachers are all super helpful and provide assistance with lesson planning, getting jobs, and finding housing for after the course. There are plenty of opportunities to network with alums and the community is very welcoming. Overall, I met some amazing people through this program and feel fully equipped to take on life in Prague :)
TLH TEFL July 2018
September 07, 2019by: Shelby Spring - United StatesSuch a great course! The instructors are so resourceful, helpful & fun! The network that has been built around this course is so helpful & made the transition from moving into a new country pretty seamless & exciting. Thanks TLH!
You won’t regret it
September 07, 2019by: Heather T - United StatesThe Language House TEFL program in Prague is an incredible experience! Prague is a beautiful city and a great place to take a TEFL course. I loved being there in the summer! The sun would come up about 4:30 in the morning and not set until about 9:30. It was fun to watch sunsets overlooking the city at night and enjoy moderate temperatures of mostly 70 degrees. It was endless summer! I wish it could last forever! While there are pros and cons to every program, the pros highly outweighed the cons and I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering taking it. I will write very honest feedback that you will want to consider to make an informed decision on your own, but know that I highly recommend it and I’m very grateful for my experience. The course provided many opportunities to teach and hone your teaching while obtaining the certification! You are able to teach a full lesson every night except for one night a week (the night you had off) and then after teaching observe 2 other students teaching lessons. This is about 3 hours of experience and feedback every night. (About 5 to 8 PM) This real life experience is very valuable and you can learn a lot from watching your peers and experimenting with different methods. It’s a bit stressful because your lessons are graded every night and you are in class all day so you don’t have a lot of time to prepare and preparations must be done when you get home from teaching at 8 or 9:00 at night. I usually just wanted to go to bed or maybe do something relaxing but had to think about lesson plans for the next day, so that was stressful. It took me at least an hour (minimum—usually much more—and the same for the other students that I knew) to prepare for every lesson because of the creativity expected in the lessons. It’s a great teaching methodology though, so it’s worth putting in the time to try it. I feel like I gained some very valuable teaching tools from this course and I really enjoyed the teaching process. The course is set up well and I really enjoyed being able to talk to a graduate on the phone before deciding to go. She was so friendly, honest, and helpful and helped me to understand exactly what to expect. It is organized well and the airport pickup makes arriving in Prague easy. They had an orientation to get you set up in the city and people even came to help you set up a local phone number in Prague, which were all super helpful! The course founders are wonderful people and very involved with the course. They are hands on and do their best to make the experience good for every single student (which is a big responsibility because there are a lot of students)! The student housing was great! It was very comfortable and in a good location. I was very happy with it. They had a nice, comfortable bed and desk in every room and all of the basic essentials. There was a washer and a drying rack right in the apartment, which was very convenient. The housing was within easy access to supermarkets and the trams. It was in a nice building that felt safe. When we had issues with a carbon monoxide detector not being in the apartment, they helped us figure out how to buy one. It was $30 and we did have to pay for it ourselves, but worth it for the peace of mind when having a heater in the bedroom and they did help us get it. Then we lost hot water for several days and the founder of the course himself came to fix it. He even replaced the shower head and sent us a video with instructions about how to light the hot water before showering. There isn’t very much time to explore the city because you are in classes all day, but the classes were good. They were full of useful and interesting information. I also liked that they were very strict about attendance policies and professionalism because it creates a positive environment for learning. It is a little on the strict side though because you aren’t allowed to eat in class or use your cell phone. Signing in and out of classes is monitored. It honestly does feel a little bit like high school but it creates an environment that is conducive to learning. I loved many of the instructors! The male instructor I had was very friendly, intellectually engaging, and professional. His lessons were well done and feedback thorough. One of the female instructors I had was very fun, kind, and has creative ideas. She is always willing to help and goes above and beyond her duties by doing things like showing us around the city and where to find things. I had another male instructor that was very prepared for his lessons, made them engaging and interesting, and had great handouts. I had one unfortunate instructor who I was disappointed with because she took things personally, graded with bias, and was harsh in her feedback. But overall, it was a great experience with the instructors! There is a lot of grammar involved with this course and it was a good review. There’s also a test at the end that you have to pass in order to get your certificate so they recommend studying throughout the duration of the course instead of waiting until the end. My favorite part of the course was the people that I met. The office staff is incredible and kind, the other students in the program were fun to get to know, the students that you taught lessons to were super nice, and I enjoyed the one-on-one lesson teaching assignment as well. I made some friendships that I know will last and it was a great way to get acclimated to a new city! Any program you look for will have its pros and cons but it’s the people that run it that are what makes a difference. In this program you can rest assured that you are in good hands. If I were giving feedback to the course founders I would first applaud them for making an outstanding course. Then I would recommend only having the students teach 2 nights a week instead of 4 since there’s not enough prep time to create a great lesson in that amount of time. Then on the other days there would be time for feedback and lesson preparation. I would also recommend having trips planned on the weekends to make the experience of being abroad more exciting. There was one trip to a place in the countryside of the Czech Republic while I was there but there weren’t any organized trips to other countries and I think that would make the experience that much more incredible. And lastly, I would say THANK YOU for a memorable and fantastic experience! I will cherish these memories and friendships that I’ve made. If you are considering this program, DO IT! You definitely won’t regret it.
Best TEFL course out there!
September 07, 2019by: Amanda Steen - United StatesThe Language House provides an incredible opportunity to get TEFL-certified. The staff is strong, and you will definitely learn a lot! I got more feedback here on my teaching - in just a few weeks - than I did in several years as a teacher in the US. You will walk out of this course prepared to teach English abroad. Prague is a great location for the course, and when you're finished, you can either stay here or move elsewhere. Either way, TLH staff is willing to help in any way they can. A fair warning - come prepared to put a good amount of work into the course and your teaching. This is not a "blow-off" course, so don't treat it as such, but it will ultimately make you a better teacher in the end!
Would do it again in a heartbeat!
September 06, 2019by: Katie Wheeler - United StatesThe course was amazing. The instructors were helpful and willing to work out any problems I had in lesson planning or execution of the lessons. They were available whenever I needed them, which was a lot. I had teaching experiences in college through a four year university that were less inviting and less helpful then this course. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to get a TEFL certificate. This is the course to take hands down!
Best experience I’ve ever had
September 06, 2019by: Carolina Valdivia - United StatesThe school is located in a great location! so are the student housing. All the teachers and staff were amazing and really helped shape everyone into great teachers. If I didn’t understand something I felt comfortable enough to ask any of the teachers and knew they would be able to answer without making me feel stupid. The lesson we’re also so much fun. We would also do fun activities to go over grammar or anything we need extra help with on the weekends. Also the community that The Language House has created in Prague is so amazing! I have made some of the greatest friends that I wouldn’t have ever met had I came here alone and did an online TEFL course.
Best TEFL course out there
September 06, 2019by: Hannah Craft - United StatesTLH is truly amazing and thoroughly prepared me to confidently teach English. They offer assistance with anything and everything you can think of and make moving to a new country a 1000x easier. The instructors are amazing and offer a ton of guidance, advice, etc. This program was an amazing learning and life experience, and I highly recommend it.
Best decision I've ever made
September 06, 2019by: Brooke Weeber - United StatesEvery aspect of relocating abroad to reach English was covered. It was all encompassing and reliable. The people and the program were stellar! The program director spoke with me directly and was more than helpful for any questions or concerns I had. Great program!

I made forever friends and grew tremendously as an individual
September 06, 2019by: Morgan Closser - United StatesThe Language House offers a sense of community unlike any other TEFL course I’ve encountered. From Europe to Asia, I’ve worked with and been a part of various programs but none offered me a family quite like TLH. The course will challenge you, Prague will test you, but the support you receive doesn’t falter when your coursework ends. Four years later, an impending move back to Prague, and I still feel tremendous support from the TLH community.
Best TEFL course
September 04, 2019by: Tudor Bucataru - CanadaSo glad I chose this instead of an online one. These guys are pros and they've been perfecting their course for 15 years! Plus they know exactly how you can make the most of your certificate, get the best jobs, how to negotiate your pay, etc. And they put you in touch with so many schools, all the schools here want TLH grads it's great, I barley even have to interview and I got several job offers. Westergaard and his team are super fun too and you can tell they genuinely care about their students. It's hard work, but don't be discouraged, they really want everyone to pass and they'll go out of their way to help if you're struggling with anything. Highly recommend!
Amazing all around experience
August 14, 2019by: Tom Alzo - United StatesThe Language House is the real deal. Chris and the rest of the staff provide you with the support that you need every step of the way. From making sure all your questions are answered pre-course, to providing engaging and effective instruction, and finally making sure you're prepared to get a job when you graduate. They provide the structure for you to learn and grow into an excellent teacher. I'm so glad that I took this course and feel that it prepared me extremely well for life as an English Teacher abroad.
Amazing school, staff and all around experience
August 06, 2019by: Amanda Rokaitis - United StatesMoving abroad for any reason can be scary, anxiety inducing, nerve wracking - however you want to put it, but coming to the Language House to earn my TEFL certificate was SO worth it. As soon as I arrived I felt immediate relief because I was greeted so kindly by the staff and my fellow TEFLer classmates. Throughout the four weeks of the course, we were given opportunities to explore Prague, drink Czech beer at the beautiful beer gardens, hang out with the staff, experience real life students & teaching, and we were given a lot of support in between. The staff at TLH made sure that throughout the demanding course, we also engaged in a fun learning experience. Seriously, they will make you obnoxiously laugh out loud - especially when Chris does his Czech accent, or when you get Andrea to solely speak in her German accent. I'm so thankful for the relationships I made during those four weeks and all that I've learned. I am so glad that I made the decision to study at The Language House. You won't regret it!
10/10
August 02, 2019by: E M - AustriaI would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in getting a TEFL certificate! The staff is lovely, super supportive and helpful every step of the way. The school provides a lovely network and would be the perfect way for someone to move to Prague.
Truly life changing!
August 02, 2019by: Mike Bevevino - United StatesI applied to TLH in February 2019. I had been stuck in a rut and did not know what I wanted to do next with my life. However, I had taught English before and wanted to step outside my comfort zone. I knew that TLH had a wonderful program and was centrally located, so I gave it a shot. Now, I feel as if I am top of the world. The instruction and support that I have received through TLH was top notch. Chris Westergaard and his staff are truly amazing. They care about you, not only as a teacher, but as a person, too. I would recommend this experience to anyone without hesitation.
A crazy experience, but I truly enjoyed it!
August 02, 2019by: Hanna Jamei - United StatesMy time at TEFL was truly crazy. I lived in an old apartment with some utility difficulties, had a crazy schedule from 9:30-8 with classes, lesson planning, and teaching, and lots of homework to top it off. HOWEVER, I had the time of my life! Although my schedule was stressful, I made such awesome friends. I got close with so many people here and truly felt like I had a community. The TEFL instructors and staff were funny, kind, caring, and extremely helpful with everything like lesson planning, homework help, visa help, apartment help, job help, etc. I learned so much about teaching here and Prague is truly an amazing city, just give her a chance and she will impress you. If you decide to do this course, know what your getting into: -this course will take up your time in Prague, you won’t have much time to visit or sightsee Prague/ other countries, but if you decide to stay, you will have all the time in the world for that. -bring school supplies. Flash cards, notebooks, pencils, etc. You will need it. - know you won’t get housing similar to the US, you have to be adaptable. You may get a modern or old apartment, it depends, but be ready for anything Lastly, if you decide to take this course, get ready for a wild ride. You will get a Tour of some parts of Prague, one outside trip, great friends, learn how to be a teacher or a better teacher, and grow as a person. I wish you luck in your decision :)
Paradise in Prague
July 10, 2019by: Quin Thomas - United StatesThe Language House is awesome. The instructors are friendly and helpful and the immediate classroom experience sets this program apart. I went through a two year Masters program for secondary education in the U.S. and I was very impressed with how much the Language House was able to teach us in just four weeks. Having taught full time for three years prior to the program, I was also impressed by how much additional information I learned and how much I grew as an educator in such a short time frame. Feedback was useful and the structure of the program allowed me to immediately implement that feedback and rapidly improve my skills. Highly recommended.
Unforgettable
July 10, 2019by: Parker Wilkinson - United StatesI did the TEFL House in Prague a few years ago and it was an amazing experience. Chris runs a great school. I would give this school 5 stars over and over again. I started teaching within in the first week of my training. The school prepares you with every you need to become a great teacher. I loved the hands on training and feedback. It pushed me to do my best. I also loved the social aspect of the course. I made many friends and I was able to go experience the cultural side of Prague. The location and housing are also amazing.
TEFL in the most beautiful city ever!!
July 10, 2019by: Katherine Abel - United StatesIf you want a challenge, and to learn a thing or two, this is the place! TLH Prague is comprehensive, intensive, and fun. The instructors are great, and they will help you with just about anything. It was totally worth flying all the way here just for the course. I don't regret it and you wont either!
Life changing
July 10, 2019by: Lincoln Truesdale - United StatesEverything that's my life is now is because of The Language House. They supported me and taught me when I made the huge choice to move overseas. And, best of all, gave me a community to rely on and spend time with. I've met new friends, seen new places, and even met my husband. The Language House was the best choice of my life.
Couldn't recommend enough
July 10, 2019by: Ellie Taylor - United KingdomReading long reviews can play games with your mind. You can find yourself in constant question wondering 'is this the right place for me?' 'do I really want this?'. I'll keep this short and sweet by saying, that YES! You absolutely should go. You'll gain a new culture experience, friends for life and you'll learn TEFL skills in this course that are not taught in any other school. Take a leap and give it a go!
Top tier TEFL
July 10, 2019by: Rebecca Staneslow - United StatesI knew that The Language House TEFL course would be a good course from the research I did. I didn't expect it to defy my expectations in the best way. The hands-on teaching experience with different levels of actual EFL students and observation and feedback by peers and qualified instructors helped me grow immensely. This course has been honed so that no time is wasted and growth is maximized. It is challenging in the best way, and the instructors are incredibly attentive. I felt like I truly earned my certificate and have the confidence to teach on my own. That's not to mention the wonderful friends I made and the community to which I now belong. The Language House is truly a Top Tier TEFL course!
Such a great experience
July 10, 2019by: Carolina Valdivia - United StatesThe Language House was way more than what I expected. It was harder, but more rewarding. I’ve made some of the greatest friends I could wish for. Live in a beautiful city I wouldn’t have thought I’d EVER live in. And have a career I never expected to have. This school is hard, intense and very thorough. Chris Westergaard and Chris Foxwell are incredible teachers that have SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE of the English language you’d think they have google Whispering things in their ears! The rest of the staff that work here are also just as phenomenal. They help you and walk you thru everything you need to know and why that will work. I wish I had these people growing up as my teachers.

A great experience
July 04, 2019by: Haley Montowski - United StatesI completed The Language House TEFL course in January 2017 and can truly say the experience changed the course of my life. Since then, I have been able to find jobs easily, support myself, and have community while living abroad. I still use the teaching tools I learned during the course. I have also met some of the best friends and mentors through the course from other months. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a course in the Czech Republic.
Best experience - prepared us well and made my transition living abroad so easy!
July 02, 2019by: Savannah Cruz - United Arab EmiratesI am so happy I chose the Language House to complete my TEFL certification. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were equipped with the knowledge to teach ESL anywhere in the world. After graduating, I was more than prepared to go out and teach. It was mainly due to the amount of time we spent lesson planning and teaching real students! The Language House provided me with the tools to teach, adjust to living in a new country, a community of friends, and so much more. The staff is extremely supportive and will answer any questions you may have from teaching to living abroad. If you are looking for a course that will not only provide you with the skills to be an excellent English teacher, but also connect you with a group of amazing people then the Language House is the right choice for you. I am forever grateful that I stumbled upon this wonderful course and ended up in beautiful Prague!
Savannah, we are blessed to have such great representatives from all over the world.
Awesome staff and great learning experience!
July 01, 2019by: Thomas Cocco - United StatesThe Language House offers an eclectic syllabus, focusing on interpersonal communication, presentation skills, mastering of grammatical concepts, integration of entertaining and interactive lessons, and much more. Studying at the Language House puts students in touch with a wide net of local alum who collectively work to improve the experience for everyone. Being a member of the TLH alumni community is very beneficial, with a great deal of extra programming seen throughout the course of one's stay in the city. The staff at TLH are all very kind and accommodations are more than acceptable and in line with the price of the program.
Best decision I’ve made!
June 30, 2019by: Maegan Rubino - CanadaTaking my TEFL certification with The Language House Prague was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It took me a little while to filter through different cities and decide where I wanted to end up and I’m so happy that I landed on TLH in Prague. The TLH alum community is so tightly knit that living abroad doesn’t feel entirely overwhelming or scary because I have such a solid community to fall back on. TLH went above and beyond in providing me with all the tools and information I needed to succeed as an ESL teacher. From the pre-course grammar classes to the hands-on teaching practicum, TLH will definitely prepare you to teach abroad. The staff are some of the most passionate people I’ve met. I think anyone can get a TEFL certificate at any academy or school but the knowledge and experience from those at TLH is something special that not many schools can compare to.
Top TEFL program!
June 30, 2019by: Amelia Smith - United StatesI completed the TEFL course in January 2018 and have been teaching ever since. There are so many amazing things to say about The Language House Prague... wonderful staff/trainers/mentors, knowledgeable and efficient in-house visa service team, exceptional real world training methods, and an alumni network giving constant post course tips and support. It's the place to be if you are in search of a TEFL program abroad. 100% would recommend to any and all interested.
Great exprience
June 30, 2019by: Kim Shakeri - IranI needed to become a good English teacher, before the language house I was an under average teacher, always struggling to find students and keep them interested. There was hands on experience with real students and inspiring English teachers who would give feedback on my lesson. TLH helped me find a job and friends. The staff are super friendly and helpful specially the CEO, Chris Westergard who is very sympathetic and approachable. It was one of the best experiences of my life

Act two
June 29, 2019by: Jennifer Dickinson - United StatesMany folks choose a TEFL course after they graduate from university. They wish to travel the world and teaching English is a great way to do that. I chose a TEFL course after 30 years of teaching as a primary school teacher. I chose to get a TEFL certificate as part of the second act of my teaching career. I had traveled to Prague soon after the Velvet Revolution in 1992. It was love at first sight. So, it was my first choice when researching TEFL certification programs. I was looking for a program that had concentration on teacher training and teaching practice with real students. The Language House provided both of these important components, and I finished the course feeling totally ready to begin teaching with confidence. I was also looking for a program that had positive and practical support before, during, and after the course. While The Language House course content and teaching practice are essential keys to a successful program, the support throughout the course and the continual support they provide is invaluable to teachers. The Language House has built a positive and supportive community of teachers and staff. The Language House was a great choice and remains a constant friendly support system as I continue to teach English.

Such an incredible community
June 28, 2019by: Alexandra Darby - CanadaCompleting my TEFL certification through The Language House was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They provide so much support both inside the classroom and outside the classroom. Not only did I learn SO MUCH about teaching English as a foreign language but I also gained a fantastic network through TLH. The alum community is so supportive and I can confidently say that without it, I would likely not be living in Prague. I’ve met lifetime friends here and have made connections that I would not have gotten anywhere else. Any TEFL academy can give you a TEFL certification, but TLH truly goes above and beyond. They are with you every step of the way and more.
A worthwhile and enriching life experience and investment
June 28, 2019by: Connie K - AustraliaGoing to Prague to become accredited to teach English was honestly one of the best investments I made. After doing much research about different TEFL courses in Prague I decided to go with the Language House because it had engaging content, a diverse community, a convenient and central location, and assisted with housing and "life admin" aspects. I was impressed by the rigour of the course and how seriously they took the elements. You have to be prepared to work hard and actually want to be accredited (ie. it's not just a "yay lets go to Europe and drink all the beer, and get some easy certificate for our CV" kind of thing). With that being said, you really do bond with other open-minded peers have a great time with a free walking tour, social drinks and get-togethers. Like all things, you have get what you put in, and the experience here will be so rewarding if you want it to be. I also respect Chris and his team for going above and beyond many times, and asking for honest constructive feedback and actually tangibly taking it onboard to keep improving the school!
Inspirational
June 28, 2019by: Brooke Weeber - United StatesThe entire team at The Language House was very welcoming, as it was my first time living abroad. I couldn't have asked for a more sincere program. The level in education exceeded my expectations as well. The Program was very thorough in all respects.
Best TEFL school in the world
June 27, 2019by: Matt Rud - United StatesI can't say enough about the quality of TLH Prague. Chris is an excellent teacher who runs a spectacular school. All of the teachers are well-trained and engaging, and the program gives you the perfect foundation to teach abroad -- whether Prague or elsewhere around the globe. It was equal parts fun and informative, and an unforgettable experience.
A great jump start into the world of teaching English
June 27, 2019by: Christopher Brooks - United StatesI decided to make a career change from engineering to teaching. I decided on the Language House because it had a lot of good reviews. It turned out to be a very good choice. They taught me a lot of practical information and helped me get started with lesson planning and curriculum building. They were a little rigid with the ESA structure, but this is understandable as they are trying to ensure their graduates that they can start teaching from day 1 even with no prior teaching experience. I've been teaching for about 1 1/2 years since finishing at TLH. They gave me all the tools I needed for success in building and expanding my own program. They have also made sure to make me feel like a part of the community, allowing me to use their facilities on occasion and constantly coming up with activities we can all do together. Also, there are always new job postings up every week.
Best decision I’ve ever made
June 27, 2019by: LeeAnne Carter - United StatesThe Language House changed my life and gave me the opportunity to live in Europe for 2 amazing years. From the moment I applied to the time I went home, I had their support and guidance. The course prepared me to teach, and the community is what made it so easy to stay and build my own social circle. Could not recommend this program more.
Changed my life :)
June 27, 2019by: Anne Marie Lane - United StatesI am overjoyed to have chosen The Language House in Prague for my TEFL training. Without it, I would be without the massive community that continues to support me well past my graduation date. The teachers are hard working and care so genuinely for the success of each student. Everyone is so friendly and supportive. I really don’t know what my expat life would look like if I didn’t have The Language House!
A wonderful foundation for life abroad
June 27, 2019by: Junaid Hussain - United KingdomI chose this course based on how highly regarded it is and it did not disappoint! It is challenging but also fun in a very supportive environment. What set the course apart for me was the community and social aspect of the program; it's something that is very important when moving abroad and it helps alot. I definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to begin an adventure abroad!
Wonderful way to change career paths
June 26, 2019by: Autumn Mills - United StatesI never thought I would become a teacher, but my dream was always to work while traveling. I have come to really love many aspects of teaching and all of the possibilities and opportunities for different types of jobs rather than the standard classroom approach. There is so much you can do with a TEFL certificate. The Language House really made me feel prepared to teach in various settings, and for that, I am extremely thankful to have found it and gone through the course!
Thanks, Autumn and thanks for the old school move and giving us a card at graduation.
Excellent starting point
June 26, 2019by: Charlotte Morgan - United StatesI did not go into teaching after taking the course with The Language House, but it was the best starting point for me. This particular school gave me enough advice and knowledge to be confident in my decision to stay in Prague and a network of friends that I still enjoy.
Teaching is the dream!
June 26, 2019by: Rowyn Mercadante - United StatesI would go to The Language House Prague again and again. The staff are all so friendly and fun. The course is challenging and worthwhile. The resources and possibilities for work are there. Prague is an incredible city to acclimate to as an expat. I would recommend the course to everybody.
Great!
April 21, 2019by: Ryan Holt - United StatesThe language house had an excellent real-life experience curriculum. The teachers were attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone was eager to help out with job assistance and advice for living in a new city. The classes were also very practical and helpful.
I haven't had that much fun since Disneyland!
April 21, 2019by: William Rogers - United StatesOk....so maybe comparing my experience at The Language House in Prague to Disneyland as a kid isn't quite fair, because my TEFL experience was centered around learning and the acquisition of professional skills, whereas Disney Land was a sugar crazed utopia with life sized Mice and castles. However....the amount of fun and the amount of enjoyment that was integrated into what could be described as hard (very hard) course schedule was truly impressive. Every single teacher / staff member at the Language House displayed nothing but professionalism and candor. Thorny subjects such as visas, future employment and adjustment to European / International life was not only addressed, but anticipated and integrated into the course in a very cogent manner. It was the most challenging and most rewarding month of schooling I have ever undertaken and I have a completely new skill set and attitude towards my own opportunities coming out of the course than I had going in. I could rattle off the names of teachers that made my experience at The Language House special, but I could just as easily direct you to the staff members listed on the website and point at every face on there. If you are thinking about signing up for the course, wavering between options, or just need a little extra nudge to dive into the deep end then maybe you can find that nudge in my words and the promise that your decision will be a good one. Long live the long arm!
Will, you will be missed :)
Challenging and rewarding
April 18, 2019by: Sara Hart - United StatesThe Language House TEFL course met and greatly exceeded my expectations and believe me, I had read other reviews and walked in with high expectations from the very beginning. In all stages of the process from pre-course questions, the four-week intensive course, and post-course support, I felt that the staff was committed to each student's success both as a teacher and as a foreigner navigating Prague. The program is by no means a cake walk, but every day I would walk out of class with a bellyache from laughing and a notebook full of valuable information. Taking the leap and applying to the Language House TEFL program was easily one of the most impactful and rewarding decisions of my life!
Best decision I have ever made
April 18, 2019by: Nicole Kemp - South AfricaI took the April 2019 TEFL course in the hopes of just obtaining the necessary certification I require for teaching abroad, but instead, I got so much more! The real-life practical teaching experience was priceless. Having experienced observers/teachers on-hand to help with any queries and lesson planning problems also made this course stand out from the rest. I will be forever grateful that I decided to take this course instead of doing an online course. The experience and knowledge gained in such a short amount of time have equipped me enough to be a good English teacher right off the bat. I will 100% recommend The Language House Prague to anyone looking to take a TEFL course.
Learning while living my best life...
April 17, 2019by: Grace Heyns - South AfricaI had an absolutely incredible experience earning my TEFL certification at The Language House in Prague. The staff were fun, friendly and well qualified to provide me with the best platform for kickstarting my English teaching career. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to complete the TEFL certification, as the practical experience just can't be beat. The ongoing support and guidance of the staff was a game changer and I couldn't have picked a better setting than Prague!
Very challenging but fair
April 17, 2019by: Dwayne Remolado - AustraliaI came to this coarse expecting it to be a cake walk, but was surprised in a great way. I was humbled by the experience and truly learned how to be a great teacher and listener at the same time. The resources available to transition into civilian life in Prague was smooth and effortless. There is much to learn from here so I recommend it to anyone
Just the right kind of challenge
April 17, 2019by: Heather Hufford - United StatesGetting my TEFL certificate at The Language House was such an important experience for me. Going through the program meant more than getting a certificate (although that was kind of really important, also). I would not have the same levels of confidence or excitement if I hadn't had the benefit of hands-on teaching experience and engaging classroom discussions throughout the course. More than anything, I wanted to be challenged, and that is exactly what happened. Prospective students can expect to participate in a highly structured experience with classes focusing on teaching methodology followed by teaching. It can be really hard, but even so, every day I had a lot of fun. This course is definitely well-suited for people who already love being a student! That said, this course also asked a lot of me. On the first day, I had no idea how I was going to plan lessons, meet with a private student, teach every night, and get my other homework assignments done. The lovely thing about The Language House, though, is that between the amazing staff and solidarity from the other students, I had all the support I needed to get where I needed to be. Again, The Language House asked a lot of me, but I found it never asked too much. I would highly recommend this course to eager, motivated learners who want to support others.
Wonderful program
April 17, 2019by: Emily Jamison - United StatesI thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Language House Prague. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, and having the chance to actually teach 45 minute lessons in a classroom was extremely valuable. I would recommend to those serious about teaching full time.
Great school!
April 17, 2019by: Amy Pasqua - United StatesAwesome language school that really teaches you how to create lesson plans and execute them with real students. Great support system and community during and after the course. Not easy, but an awesome experience!
Wonderful course
February 19, 2019by: David Hromatka - United StatesI didn't do much research prior to signing up for The Language House in Prague but after speaking to some of my fellow trainees I learned that this is one of the highest rated TEFL schools in the world. Now that I've completed the course I can easily see why. It was a challenging program but I feel much more prepared to teach after having gone through the course. The largest component of the certification process requires students to teach several demo lessons with real English language learners. Not all TEFL courses include this type of it practicum in their program and I can't understand why. The demo lessons were not only rewarding but also incredibly useful when I started looking for work. I wouldn't have felt nearly as comfortable in the classroom without the opportunity to teach and receive feedback from the observers at The Language House.
Top Notch TEFL course
January 17, 2019by: Mary Eldred - United StatesFabulous course. Excellent instructors using excellent teaching methods. Four weeks go by quickly with mornings in sessions, a few hours to prepare lessons and then teaching in the evenings with feedback on your teaching. Quite the mental workout!
Life changing experience!
January 13, 2019by: Gabriela Aceves - United StatesThe Language House is truly the best! The teachers are unmatchable! Westergard, Foxwell, Andrea, Adrienne, and Nicole are the perfect balance of mentor and friend. Their support and guidance is beyond compare. I’ve never learned so much in a month. Taking this course was one of the best decisions I ever made.
TLH prepared me to teach anywhere in the world!
January 11, 2019by: Meghan Berger - United StatesI completed The Language House TEFL program in Prague the summer of 2016. I have since been teaching in Prague and online and enjoy the freedom that comes with having my TEFL. I could not have picked a better program! Not only did TLH prepare me for teaching in the real world, they helped advise me on jobs, housing, and getting used to the culture/lifestyle abroad. I especially love that TLH has a huge network of expats, both in Prague and worldwide. Even today, I'm involved with the community and love the continued support and resources. I would highly recommend The Language House to anyone looking to get certified to teach English. Prague is a perfect starting point for your life abroad.
Best TEFL course ever!
January 10, 2019by: Alec Strzemp - United StatesThis was such an enjoyable and learning experience. So much so that I never write a review for anything, so this means a lot. I feel fully prepared to go anywhere in the world to teach English. Thanks for all the hard work everyone!!
Truly a life changing experience!
December 21, 2018by: Taylor Zantingh - CanadaWhatever fear is holding you back from signing up right now, forget it! Before leaving for Prague, I'd never travelled alone. I left my city's airport afraid. I was afraid of not knowing the local language; TLH offers resources for that. I was afraid that I would be lonely; TLH has a thriving community of graduates and I've made friends that I am still in contact with long after arriving back home. I was afraid that I wouldn't find work, that I wouldn't be confident standing in front of a classroom, that I wouldn't do well in a job interview, that I wouldn't pass the grammar test. Now, I look back at those fears and laugh! I promise you that, with the Language House, you will find yourself stronger and more capable than you ever thought possible.
Best TEFL course ever!
December 21, 2018by: Angela Moteska - MacedoniaThe TLH was one of the best experiences in my life. Their staff is just amazing! All of them are friendly and they went above and beyond in order to assist us with whatever we needed(housing, visa, job assistance). The instructors are not only friendly and helpful but they are knowledgeable and realistic and they were constantly giving us real-life advice instead of sugarcoating things for us. The program works incredibly well. Sure, it is intensive, but it is all worth it. The organization is just amazing. The lessons and the practice work really well together. The amount of practice was crucial for all of us, it's the practice what made us better teachers. That's why I highly recommend TLH.
Fun,informative and very well organized.
December 20, 2018by: Faud Engineer - United StatesI took this course thinking I knew all things English. I learned how little I knew about grammar and was taught in an environment that was fun, informative and very well organized. The instructors love what they do and make themselves so accessible to the student, both during and after the course. The location was very safe, clean and inviting and again the instructors are spot on fantastic at what they do. They know their stuff and make it fun to learn. Thank you for the experience and the great friendships worldwide, which are still on going 6 years later.
Excellent course that continues to improve!
December 20, 2018by: Karrin Childs - United StatesThe training I received I. This course was so valuable to me in my career teaching abroad. I was a student several years ago and even then the lecturers were dedicated and the school was very helpful in connecting us with potential jobs as well as other graduates.
Wonderful Program!
December 20, 2018by: Marni Olk - United StatesI’m so happy with my decision to take The Language House TEFL program! Not only was the course amazing, but I met so many wonderful people through the program. Prague is a beautiful city and I feel the program completely prepared me to be a teacher!
So much to see, so much to learn
December 09, 2018by: Jo C - MalaysiaLiving in a different country can have lots of challenges but they have also been incredible experiences. I’ve met so many great friends and students, things have turned out much better than I had expected! Also, travelling while working is one of the best things ever :)
Tough but excellent learning
December 08, 2018by: Martin Vasquez - United StatesAfter completing this course, which was not easy, I felt confident to teach TEFL, which I have been doing. They really teach grammar thoroughly and I am always using their shortcuts, like their charts and timelines. They give you the building blocks to be successful. Thanks!
Best decision - hands down
December 08, 2018by: Jaclyn Hartnett - United StatesI enrolled in The Language House in Prague, Czech Republic to get my TEFL certification after graduating college and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From start to finish and beyond they provided such a phenomenal level of support that gave me the courage to make the jump and live abroad. The course itself was intensive and immersive - and did a fantastic job at preparing me to teach English at all levels. Many of the exercises and mock lessons I learned in the course, I recycled into my every day lesson plans in the classroom afterwards. The Language House community was also a huge benefit as they were there to assist in anything from job applications to visas to housing to just hanging out with an awesome group of expats and locals. They also did a wonderful job at educating you about the new country and culture your joining which really helped quite a bit in assimilating and settling in faster. I never studied abroad- and didn’t have the funds to travel extensively. TLH gave me the opportunity to experience new parts of the world that was actually sustainable. Two thumbs all the way up :)
I don't regret a single penny spent
December 06, 2018by: Adrienna Ogin - United StatesI consider my time and money spent with and at The Language House as an investment that has paid itself off and in I know it will continue to serve me as I move forward in my TEFL career. The teachers were excellent and informative some more impressive than others. I really felt like they knew what they were doing and that they cared about their own integrity and the integrity of their teachers. We had many opportunities to work with each other and learn from one another, and we also had many opportunities to get to know Prague. I know many people choose the option to gain their TEFL cert online as it is more cost effective and you also don't have to consider the spending costs for travel and housing, but honestly I don't think you can replace the full experience you can get taking a course abroad and in person. We had the opportunity to work and teach real students, we lived in a different country and culture, and The Language House really knows what they are doing. It was challenging, and at times frustrating because of the amount of work, and sometimes the newness of dealing with students and their personalities, but all of it was worth it. I know their are other programs out there, but I feel like The Language House is the best. I'm grateful I made the choice to lead from them.
Good quality and good people.
December 06, 2018by: Ryan Alan - United StatesProper job help. Proper advice. Good people running the organization. Central education locations in the heart of Prague. One center is just off one of the most famous squares in the city. Chris is a dedication and fun individual with a great deal of experience. Was always available to provide guidance.
One of my best decisions
December 06, 2018by: Noah Krause - United StatesIt can be a daunting task finding the right TEFL course. Luckily for me, I found The Language House in Prague. I had 100% support and guidance from the moment I sent in my application to this very day. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, assistance in finding both accommodation and work in Prague and elsewhere, the use of the schools resources and being part of a worldwide network of teachers...these are just the tip of the iceberg. When I came to Prague (nearly 4 years ago) I thought I’d just be passing through. I’m happy to say...I’m still here and teaching! If you are thinking of a life change and want the training to be a fantastic teacher. Look no further. They are the best.
The best way to become a teacher in Prague
December 06, 2018by: Kathleen Cotter - United StatesThough I graduated from The Language House several years ago, the month-long program remains one of the best and most exciting parts of my life. By day two we were teaching our cohort, by week two we were leading full lessons, and by week four we were ready to gain employment. Throughout that time, TLH provided meaningful lessons about teaching, lesson planning, one-on-one vs. group dynamics, and navigating the (often confusing) world of Czech visas/politics/taxes. I met friends there I still travel to meet throughout the years and still keep up with the school on social media. TLH provides a unique and one-of-a-kind experience for their students. I can't recommend this program enough.
Had an amazing time
December 06, 2018by: Andrew Espley - United KingdomThe course was fantastic - fun, intense and informative. I don't think I could have left feeling more confident in teaching (and public speaking in general) - all things that I definitely didn't feel before the course.
The best decision I’ve ever made
December 06, 2018by: Mandy Welborn - United StatesThe Language House was my home away from home after I left Michigan. They provided me with everything I needed before I left, and gave me all the tools I needed when I arrived to make the most out of Prague. The biggest asset the language house has is its network. They provided me with a family here, and after two years of living abroad ( and counting) I couldn’t be more grateful!
The best experience I could have asked for!
December 06, 2018by: Ellie Nistler - United StatesI took the TEFL program at TLH in October 2017, and I loved every minute of it. Yes, I was in a new country and I was in awe of everything so that made everything better, but The Language House really was awesome. They did an excellent job at helping with everything, from the moment I clicked the ‘enroll’ button. The teachers were excellent and so helpful with preparing me for what to expect when I was to graduate from the course in 3 short weeks. I would recommend TLH to anyone who is even remotely interested in teaching abroad!
Permanently life-changing
December 06, 2018by: Sarah Hannan - United StatesThe Language House TEFL is so much more than just a TEFL program. It is a major life experience. I didn't quite know what to expect from the course, but I never imagined I would come out of it not only being prepared to teach English at any level, but also just being a better, more enriched person in general. TLH drags you out of your comfort zone and forces you to grow. If you're lucky enough to stay in Prague for a while, the network of TLH staff and alumni are the greatest possible resource. If you decide to take the TEFL course with TLH, even though the course is temporary, you're deciding to permanently change your life for the better.
The best
December 06, 2018by: Dale Holmes - AustraliaEverything the language house did was great. From orientation and helping with extras outside the course, they go well above what is required with genuine care for the learners. As for the course it is intense but you couldn’t learn more and have the teaching experience you get here than anywhere else. I’ve had friends do other TEFL courses and from what I hear they are far in comparison to the language house. The professionalism of the staff and culture they have there really make it what it is. Can’t fault in any aspect.
TLH is the best!
December 06, 2018by: Amelia Bren - United StatesThe Language House in Prague gave me the tools and skills to be a successful teacher abroad. I found the instructors were well versed in all English topics. They spent quality time making sure we comprehended each method being taught. The community within TLH is like no other, graduates are able to network with teachers all over the world. Assistance of any kind is welcomed including job assistance, course assistance, housing assistance, etc. I could not be happier with my experience!
It completely changed the course of my life!
December 06, 2018by: Dawn Kubicek (Oass) - United StatesThe TEFL Language House in Prague run and taught by Chris Westergaard was beyond my expectation of what I could learn and actually apply to stay and live in Prague. Not only did it give me the knowledge and skills, Westergaard coached and inspired me to follow my passion which ended up with me starting my own business for a decade. I only moved back to America to help my elderly parents otherwise I would have stayed. I can wholeheartedly say none of that would have happened if I didn’t discover The Language House Prague and Chris Westergaard. Please feel free to email or call for any questions at [email protected] (262)455-8906
Loved it
December 06, 2018by: Patrick Ruben Long - United StatesThe Language House in Prague did way more than help me get my TEFL certificate. They did that but they also provided me with a social network here that has made living abroad a drama free and incredible experience.
Best preparation for teaching TEFL (or anything) I could have hoped for
December 05, 2018by: Christopher Relford - United StatesThe month-long TEFL course I took at TLH was an orientation and bootcamp for teaching English as a foreign language, but also for living abroad, and for teaching in general. I am still a teacher today (10 years later!) and owe many of my most formative teaching experiences to the time I spent at The Language House. I am eternally grateful for the experience and the inspiration I found there. Oh and it's where I met my wife.
Excellent course! I loved it!
December 05, 2018by: Andrea Bisconti - United StatesThe Language House in Prague packed their month-long course with great practical education, many hours of teaching practice, comprehensive feedback, and support before, during and after. I can't recommend them enough! The Language House made arriving in Prague, settling in, getting a visa, finding housing and finding a job all smooth and easy experiences. They support you every step of the way. After my training there, I found work within a few days and have now been teaching and traveling for a year. The staff there really want you to succeed and they'll go the extra mile for you. If you're thinking of taking a TEFL course, this is the one!
Highly recommended
December 05, 2018by: parker Wilkinson - United StatesThis TEFL school prepared me for my career for the past two years. I will be forever grateful to Chris and the rest of the TEFL staff. They covered all the different areas in which you need to become successful with teaching. They give you the tools you need to make well-informed decisions and create your own success. The course is well structured, perfectly located, and the staff creates a good atmosphere. The first week of the program you begin teaching. I felt well prepared for my first teaching job.
Great course prepared me for teaching
December 05, 2018by: David Barach - United StatesThis was a great course. I learned a ton about teaching English, and it prepared me to make my own lessons and have a good experience teaching in Prague. Lots of useful info and alumni network stuff too.
Bohemian's paradise
December 05, 2018by: Kelly McNichols - United StatesThanks to The Language House in Prague, I was able to get certified as a TEFLer, find work immediately, earn plenty of money, travel Europe on the weekends, make unbelievable memories and heartwarming friendships. Because of The Language House, I felt extremely well prepared to handle any classroom. Whether it was beginners to advanced and toddlers to the elderly, The Language House prepares you for success and teaches you the skills to develop excellent lessons plans as if it was second nature. The social community of alumni is deep, helpful and welcoming. All who have come out of this program help new members who are searching for work, accommodation, friendships and adventures. No one is left out and no other program in the world can offer that kind of security abroad.
Wonderful experience!
December 05, 2018by: Ross Mickley - United StatesThe Language house served as the perfect trampoline to enter into a career as an ESL teacher. The hands on training was plentiful and accompanied by top notch training/feedback. I’m grateful everyday for my choice to study with them!
They do it like no other!
December 05, 2018by: Ben Marakowitz - United StatesTLH TEFL Prague gave me the opportunity and all the resources I needed to start life overseas, providing excellent classes, helpful job and housing assistance, and advice on living in a new city. I’ve become a part of an interesting, supportive community here in the Czech Republic.
I learned so much!
December 05, 2018by: Corryn Finch - United StatesThe Language House has taught me so much content that is necessary to have when teaching ESL students. They also provided experience working with these students and have incredible feedback. I am glad I chose to use the language house instead of any other program. It was truly the best bang for my buck!
Organized and helpful
December 05, 2018by: Kerri Flynn - United StatesAs anyone who is thinking of moving abroad, this process can be really intimidating. Thankfully, The Language House held my hand through the entire, intimidating process. From calling me after I signed up and answering any questions to picking me up at the airport. This program is a well-oiled machine. The course was intense, as expected, but informative. I felt like the intensity for the course made me feel like I got my money's worth. Very shortly after the course, I was able to find a proper job because of the education I had just received. I am happy to know I can go anywhere and teach English and this is because of the Language House. Even after the course, I am able to contact the staff for guidance and advice and they will graciously give it. Thank you guys for everything. A month that changed my life
December 05, 2018by: John Stanlake - United KingdomTLH in Prague offered everything I wanted from my TEFL course. Excellent teaching and ongoing support, a warm and friendly community, a comprehensive course that left me confident and well trained as a new teacher and most of all an incredibly rewarding experience that motivated me to follow my dreams of teaching and travelling. It was undoubtedly one of the best months of my life and an experience I will always be grateful for.
Better than expected!
December 05, 2018by: Brian Noon - United States"Informative, intense, enjoyable" are just a few words to describe my experience with The Language House. I thought my previous experience in teaching English as a foreign language would equate to a boring and mundane month. I was pleasantly surprised at just how wrong I was. In my time there, I gained valuable teaching tools that have already made a huge difference in my approach to teaching. Not to mention the continued support after graduation. You will be busy in the classroom as well in live-practice situations. However there is still time to enjoy the beautiful city with your classmates and instructors. Czech lessons throughout the course help to ease the transition as you order world famous beer. I can't recommend The Language House enough. Anyone looking for the key to a career in the Czech Republic or any other ESL destination, look no further than The Language House.
Providing the tools for a lifetime of adventure
December 05, 2018by: Chad Lewis - United StatesChris and his team prepared me for the next 10 years of my life, teaching in multiple countries... Since studying at the Language house, I lived in Spain, Russia, and Brazil. Chris was especially insightful in helping me understand how to live and work abroad.
Had a great time and gave me to tools to live abroad!
December 05, 2018by: Josephine Hoffman - United StatesThe Language House was a great experience and gave me the tools I needed to live abroad. The course of course was challenging but I think it out-ranks other courses because it gives you hours of real life experience teaching ESL classes during the course. The instructors were very knowledgeable and created a very fun learning environment. Along with the course, they also provide help with finding places to live, job placement and Visa assistance. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Amazing experience!
December 05, 2018by: Kaylee Gueltzow - United StatesI tell everyone about my experience at The Language House. I learned so much, made a ton of amazing friends, and have a ton of resources to help me in my professional journey as a teacher. The course is super well organized and the instructors are amazing! I highly highly recommend The Language House as the perfect TEFL course!
I never thought I would enjoy teaching until I went to TLH Prague
December 05, 2018by: Kayla Lonneman - United StatesFrom the staff to the teachers to the course work everything TLH offered was amazing. They went above and beyond to assist me with housing, jobs, lesson planning, questions about Prague and life abroad. It wasn't until I took the course that I realized how much I enjoy teaching ESL. They prepare you in every aspect on how to teach, what to teach, how to plan lessons and how to believe in yourself as a teacher. They also provided a community of people to get to know and become friends with. Some of my closest friends are those I made during the course. They offer an outstanding all inclusive program and I recommend it to anyone.
It was a life-changing experience!
December 05, 2018by: Robert Rich - United StatesI never thought such a thing would drastically alter my life in such a positive and impactful way! The Language House paved a path for me to begin a teaching career abroad. With the help of this program, I've got all the tools I need to teach a wide variety of students. Not only does The Language House give you the skills you need to teach, they've got a wonderful community in Prague that makes it so easy to integrate into Czech society! 10/10 would recommend.
I'm glad I did it!
November 29, 2018by: Pauline Poupe - AustraliaThis course was very intense and demanding, but worth every minute of it and I wouldn't change a thing. All the staff members genuinely want each student to succeed and so with this type of environment the course load is not so daunting. All the classes were thorough and well paced, taught by knowledgeable instructors who were all very supportive giving each student the confidence to become an effective teacher.
Amazing experience
November 29, 2018by: Sydnee Olsen - United StatesI could not have asked for a better experience than The Language House! Chris, the owner, is very involved and always striving to make his course better. The classes were informative, fun, and taught by knowledgeable teachers who had gone through the course and taught in Prague themselves. The community of students and grads was more than I could've imagined. The Language House offered activities each week for the students in the current course, and extended graduation parties, excursions, etc. to all the alum. Overall, The Language House was the best decision I've ever made.
Life-changing
November 29, 2018by: Unique Foster - United StatesMoving abroad is hard but with TLH family behind me, I felt like i could conqueror the world. All of the tools that i took from this course prepared me for everything as a teacher and an Expat in the CZ.
The best of the best of the best!
November 16, 2018by: Anne Marie Lane - United StatesThe Language House exceeded all of my expectations. I've never had teachers like this before- teachers who are 100% invested in your growth as a teacher. I looked forward to the engaging classes and was grateful to get so many practice lessons in with real Czech students. I feel well equipped to teach English. I'm very grateful for the time and energy each staff member gave to us. I was quickly welcomed into The Language House Alumni community, which has been incredibly helpful. I can't recommend this program enough!
GO GO GO
November 14, 2018by: Reanne Wagliardo - United StatesTLH is a great home for everyone who is looking to get TEFL certified. They are extremely hospitable and really care about getting you to the next level to become the best teacher that you can. They are extremely knowledgeable about teaching English and how specifically to teach it to non-native speakers. This program was challenging and stressful at times but I don't think that any other program does as much for us as TLH did, they provide housing options, visa assistance, extra grammar classes, a young learners certificate and just overall care about how you are doing in the course. Choose TLH to get your certification!
10/10 would TLH again!
November 13, 2018by: Meili H - United StatesThe Language House (TLH) really focuses on having you become the best teacher you can be. The instructors are passionate, and really want you to understand the methodologies and mechanics of teaching . The course is set up to intrinsically motivate its students-you really want to live up to the expectations of your teachers and yourself! Students receive 15 hours of teaching time by the end of the course! Students of TLH have the opportunity to teach CEFRL A1-C2 levels. Due to logistics, it is impossible to guarantee that students will teach all levels. However, the TLH student will teach at least three different CEFRL levels throughout the duration of the course. The teaching time, with the exception of 1 to 1 sessions, is with a group of 3-10 Czech students, and is observed and critiqued immediately after the session. TLH has programming to help students navigate job searching and interviews, apartment hunting, and visa processes. They try to make sure that students have access to answers to any questions they might have about becoming an expat. You're also given job assistance for life, and a network of fantastic alumni. TLH is not stuck in a "this is the way we've done it" mentality. The course is dynamic, and Chris Westergaard and company are always looking for ways to improve the school in ways that make sense for the students and instructors. The Language House is constantly striving to be the best, which makes them stand out.
I did something I never thought I'd do!
November 13, 2018by: Eric Meyer - United StatesThe Language House was an excellent experience! I was on the fence about becoming an ESL teacher before signing up for this program. Within the first week, I was extremely happy with my decision. The program as a whole is a very rewarding and enriching experience. The staff reminded me of a university focus, only with more involved student teacher interactions. The assistance with lesson planning, housing, job assistance, and personal development as a teacher was above and beyond! I can't thank them enough for the skills they taught me and how they prepared me going forward in a entirely new to me foreign country.
TLH is for life!
October 17, 2018by: Alevtina Panchenko - RussiaI completed my training at The Language House in September 2018 and I can't thank the school enough for the knowledge and experience they've shared with me. The thing that I've appreciated the most is how serious the school is about their alums and professionalism. Being a non-native speaker (I am Russian), I was half expecting discrimination and a difficult journey on my path, what with being surrounded by native speakers, complicated visa process, and political tension. Guess what, it doesn't matter where you come from, as long as you prove your level of English, you pay attention during classes, and you implement given knowledge - you'll be just fine! The school has such a great reputation that your origin doesn't matter - as long as you have the TLH TEFL certificate, the employees know - you're a well-trained professional. The school director is so involved with the course, his staff and students. You will get all the help you need, and here's my example. I was at the Visa Centre in Moscow and I was told that the invitation letter needed an official stamp and I only had a couple of hours to fix that. I messaged the director - and almost immediately I was told that I would receive a new document within an hour. I got in half an hour. That's how helpful the staff is. From day 1 not a minute has been waisted: even if you're listening to a class, you're involved in it, practicing every point of the lecture. Not only do the staff give you useful knowledge, tips and offer their advice, they also give you a very detailed feedback on everything you do, be that homework assignments, lesson-planning assistance, or your proper lesson feedback. That is not everything, though! Starting from the orientation activities, you are introduced to a bunch of new people that in the matter of days become your closest friends, colleagues and support system. You don't have to struggle alone because they are in the same boat! I strongly recommend The Language House TEFL. Great stuff, wonderful experience, appreciative students, and magical Prague. (and beer, lots of beer.)
Great TEFL course in Prague
October 13, 2018by: MC Mercer - United StatesI completed the TEFL course at The Language House in Prague in September 2018. Overall, TLH is a great choice if you are looking for a comprehensive, well staffed, and quality TEFL course. The owner of the company is very involved in the course, and that is just one way that you can really see how serious the school takes their certification course. During the four weeks I spent at TLH, I went from never having taught in my life, to teaching 9 group lessons and 2 one-on-one lessons - all of which were unique lessons I prepared myself. On the first day of class I would have never imagined being able to complete that, based on my experience. But the course is structured in such a way that you dive in head first in understanding and practicing the methodology. Not only did they provide great practice teaching, but the observers provided very detailed feedback after each lesson taught. This made it very clear how to improve day after day. TLH also provides amazing job assistance. If you don't walk out of this course with job prospects, you are doing something wrong, not them - because the opportunities are right in front of you (during and after the course). I would highly recommend TLH to anyone looking for a fun, comprehensive, and student based TEFL course!
TLH rocks!
August 05, 2018by: Sylvia Roper - United StatesWhen I found out that Prague was available as a TEFL certification course location, I knew where to go. The Language House in Prague was a fantastic place to earn my certification! The instructors are impressive and kind; their knowledge, capability, and helpfulness allowed me to develop my teaching skills comfortably. The institution is centrally located and well-equipped. Although I worried about the intensity of the course and the prospect of teaching so many classes throughout, TLH coaxed trainees through the process and I emerged feeling infinitely better about my teaching ability by the time the course ended. Due to the intensity of the course however, you won't have much time to explore the city of Prague, so plan a bit of time before/after if you don't stay here. :)
The Language House is the best place to become TEFL-certified!
August 04, 2018by: Griffin Tinevez - CanadaMy final semester at university was closely coming to an end and I still had no idea what my plans were going to be for the summer, let alone the following year. My girlfriend and I had tossed around the idea of teaching English abroad for the past year or so but we were still unsure if it was the right decision for us. Neither of us had studied education or English in school so the prospect of teaching without any prior experience or knowledge was intimidating. Yet, we kept thinking about the opportunities of such an experience: traveling the world, cultural exchange, meeting new friends, developing new skills abroad, and making money. My girlfriend and I both knew that this was the opportunity of a lifetime. There was no way we would gain this type of experience by staying in Canada. So we both applied to the Language House for the July 2018 course. Despite my excitement for what lay ahead, worries cropped up in the back of my mind as to whether we had made the right choice. However, as soon as the first week began, all those worries quickly dissipated. Our class was an amazing group of people and we developed a strong bond within the first few days. We were thrown into a whirlwind of classes that covered teaching methodology, grammar review, basic conversational Czech, and lesson planning. The teachers themselves were fantastic and may even be some of the best teachers I've ever had. They were always professional yet still made classes tons of fun through jokes and interactive activities. The course itself is definitely intensive. There is so much to cover and to prepare for over the 4-week period. On top of lesson planning and teaching during the week, there are additional assignments that you complete plus a grammar test that you NEED to pass in order to obtain the certificate at the end. But don't worry, the Language House provides you with all the resources and materials needed to successfully pass the course. All you have to bring is an open mind and a willingness to work hard. As for the teaching itself, it is lots of fun! It may seem scary at first, but the more you get up there to teach, the more confident you become. In short, if you're at all considering getting a TEFL certificate, please come to the Language House! You will have the time of your life!
The best TEFL course there is!
August 01, 2018by: Hollie Rochfort - United KingdomThis is such a well thought out and comprehensive course. The tutors are all so helpful and knowledgeable (and very funny!) and it's set out in such a way that when you finish, you feel as prepared as possible for teaching. The Language House covers teaching methodology, grammar (including a really helpful set of pre-course videos and an optional weekend study session), classroom management, lesson planning and the option to add-on a Young Learners and Teens certificate too. By the end of the course you'll have taught 9 lessons with teacher and peer reviews for each, alongside observing lessons. These really help you to progress as a teacher and the constant support from the tutors really helps with confidence. The Language House are really well established and are very good at creating networks (in Prague and beyond). During the course they have regular visits from local language schools who are hiring, lessons on how to make a living with online teaching and how to teach business English. Once the course has finished they include all students into a supportive alumni group, where jobs and events are posted and leave you with an arsenal of useful resources and continued support. There are a lot of social events to attend if you fancy it and The Language House really makes you feel at home throughout. I honestly can't believe how much I've learnt and grown as an individual throughout the past month and I can't recommend this TEFL course enough.
Best TEFL program in Prague
July 28, 2018by: Kaitlyn C. - United StatesThe Language House is incredibly well-organized and the course made me feel prepared and confident that I could teach. The alumni community is amazing and opens a lot of doors. I can wholeheartedly say that this was the best decision of my life. Thanks to TLH for making the dream of living abroad a reality!
Life changing experience!
July 28, 2018by: Lyvia Chapman - United StatesThe TLH TEFL course is an intensive month program that taught me so much about learning, teaching, and most surprisingly, myself. Before joining this program I had never taught anyone anything and definitely didn't imagine myself becoming a teacher. My passion is and always has been film; I love being behind the camera. However, after the TLH lessons I gained an immense amount of confidence and grew to actually enjoy speaking in front of crowds and love teaching. It is a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend.
Best decision of my life
July 28, 2018by: Genevieve Huckabee - United StatesChoosing The Language House was the best decision of my life! I've stayed connected with everyone that I met through the program and am so thankful for it. if you move abroad, The Language House is where it's at!!!
Great experience, and I recommend it!
July 27, 2018by: Hannah Van Lom - United StatesChris Westergaard and his team did a great job preparing me to teach in Prague. The month was intense for sure, but well worth it. I was also very fortunate with my class. After each year, I keep extending my stay. It's hard to leave with the Prague family I have here, and I am still constantly impressed with this city and all it has to offer. Taking the course through The Language House changed my life, and I am so lucky to be living and teaching in Prague. I couldn't be happier.
You would be hard-pressed to find a better TEFL program and community!
July 21, 2018by: Melissa - Czech RepublicThe Language House is an excellent course. It is well organized, rigorous, and community oriented. From the start of the application process I was offered support and resources, including excellent study materials and general support for coming to Prague (housing options, airport pick-up, visa support etc.) The course itself is designed to fully prepare each person to be a great teacher. This goal is clear from day one and continues throughout each week. When teaching and learning there are clear expectations and consistent feedback. Course takers are offered many opportunities to seek out support from staff and classmates, the environment is geared towards collaboration and creativity. The teachers are engaging and very effectively model best ESL teaching practices. There is no doubt that this course is intense. Instructors have high expectations and look to see that their feedback is being taken seriously when teaching and designing lessons. Most coursework feels very practical and relevant, although can be challenging at times. I entered this course with formal teaching experience and I significantly benefitted from it. All that being said, the Language House is so much more than just a TEFL course. TLH does so much to make a community around the current students and graduates. There are all kinds of traditions, clubs, and support systems in place to facilitate a TLH network here in Prague and around the world. These dinners, job boards, housing opportunities, and social events have been essential for my experience and many others that I have met through The Language House. TLH values feedback and in my experience tries to listen with open ears about how to improve the course and meet the needs of the participants. The staff is available and approachable and does try their best to acknowledge and validate whatever questions and concerns that come up regarding coursework, applying for employment, visas, and all the other details that come in to moving abroad. As always nothing is perfect, TLH facilities sometimes feels a little crammed, there are a few projects that feel tedious when you are at your busiest stages of the course, the curriculum is geared towards very specific methods of teaching that are more natural for certain personalities, and I highly suggest bringing your own laptop/ a solid wifi location for lesson planning- but overall The Language House exceeded my expectations and I feel truly grateful that I chose to take my TEFL course at TLH. In conclusion, if you are serious about becoming an excellent English teacher and you are willing to put in the time and energy- The Language House will get you there and you'll have quite a bit of fun and support along the way.
The Language House... the cult of cults
July 11, 2018by: URA Fever - Czech RepublicHow would I describe my experience with the Language House? It certainly took me out of my comfort zone for which I am grateful for, and in many respects, I do not regret my time with the school as it enabled me to take the brave step in moving abroad. But, like everything in life, nothing is perfect and the ‘Language House’ does contain certain flaws… First of all, I would like to state the positives I got out of this experience – the network and shall I say general organisation of the school is really good and very efficient. The owner and head-honcho Chris Westergaard is an interesting fellow – again, efficient and is always on-call, I can imagine how annoying or frustrating it is to constantly have to answer stupid questions or repeat the same spiel day-in and day-out. However, this is his business and that is his motivation. I first spoke to Westergaard over the phone prior to coming to Prague and he was very helpful, reassuring and most of all a good salesman. The man knows how to sell a dream and when you meet the guy, the charisma and charm he possess reinforces this idea. So, in a nutshell – the positives I got from this was the experience of meeting new people who I made friends out of and lifelong ones at that. Big plus for me. Second of all, I got a great insight into a style of teaching which wasn't for me per say, but it gives you the foundations. I also appreciated the number of events they hosted for us, i.e. going for dinner, tours around the city and taking us out for drinks. It was a nice touch and thank you – this certainly helped ease my living in Prague anxieties. The positives however, kind of stop here… Time for me to complain a little now whilst being objective as possible. Having TEFL is not essential if you want to be an English teacher in Prague. Of course, it’s beneficial and some institutions ask for it, but when you are working for a language school who take a percentage of your pay and you are earning a pittance for working 20 odd hours a week (not including your lesson planning and constant travelling by the way), it’s almost pointless. Unless you have this longing desire to be a teacher and you don’t care about the money, then go for it, this is for you, but if your heart is truly not into the idea of the profession, this course will turn you right off along with the practicalities of general teaching… Now you are probably wondering, is this course value for money? I would say so in many ways, yes. In terms of the networking and efficiency like I mentioned earlier, the Language House provide a good service and cater to any problems you might have and actually get things done. They are reliable to an extent. What about the quality of teaching? Again, good, there are certain teachers there that definitely know their stuff, experienced and actually care about what they do. To name-drop a few, I would say the likes of Chris Foxwell and Andrea Bayliss are the two teachers I actually gained insight and knowledge from their classes, on top of that, they were engaging. A few on the other hand and general staff members within the school, are not so warm and definitely find it a hassle when it comes to you being confused about something or not unclear. I won’t name names in this case. The attitude of these certain staff members was incredibly off-putting to the extent I did not even want to approach them for anything, it was that repelling. I had one staff member actually kick a bin in my general direction whilst giving me aggravation over time management, a little over the top I think… Apart from the two names I mentioned above, the rest of the staff appear burned out, tired, bored and generally just not that interested in what they are teaching or giving out. It’s like in their heads at the start of every course “Oh god! More overly keen people thinking TEFL is wonderful and I have to teach the same thing I've taught for god knows how many years”. It’s written all over their faces, and they make no effort to hide this. During my time with the course I experienced a lot of positives and a few negatives too. The workload is intense but it’s not difficult, once you get into a rhythm of doing things it becomes second nature, albeit a little boring and repetitive. The grammar structures can appear anal especially when it comes to error correcting on your own work. The actual style of teaching the Language House projects is one that you are dramatizing a character or acting out a lot. It feels incredibly awkward at first having to stand there pretending you have been shot and waiting for the student to reply in English (most of the time they sort of cringe, like I did on the inside). You do eventually get over this, but it’s not my style or the style I would ever adhere to in any teaching setting. If that’s your cup of tea, then again, this course is for you because there is no two ways of approach. You either do it this way or fail. I would like to sum up by saying that in my actual experience, the Language House gave me more life experience than actual ‘teaching’ experience, because in my opinion we all have our own styles and to pay X number of thousands of dollars just to get a ‘drama’ qualification, it kind of feels a bit of a kick in the teeth and you have been somewhat robbed. Sure, its business I get that, qualifications also cost money, I also get that. But you don’t need a TEFL certificate to actually teach in this city or many others around the world for that matter. Your qualities as a native speaker are enough normally or if you are not native, then your proficiency. In my experience with employers so far in Prague, they have been more interested in my personality or my social skills as opposed to my listed qualifications and achievements, because if you don’t fit the dynamics with your students they won’t respond to you. So, a little heads up, the Language House provides some good perks, but it’s not entirely the bees knees or a complete necessity to have, you’ll survive without it and can actually pick up work quite easily without this course. My advice would be, save your money and just move to Prague and take it from there, because you will have no trouble that way either, because this Language House stuff, it's all a little overrated.
The Language House TEFL
January 10, 2018by: Graves Abigail - Czech RepublicThe Language House was a great program to get me started in Prague. I feel like they set me up for success in living and teaching in Prague or anywhere else abroad. The community is very strong and supportive and I have made many lifelong friends through they connections from the Language House.

Teaching hours were helpful
December 31, 2017by: Screen NameWe spent a lot of time actually preparing lesson plans and teaching during the course, which I think was really helpful. There is really no way to learn how to be a teacher without having some sort of classroom experience, and The Language House provides a lot of opportunity to improve your teaching ability. They help you to see teaching as a skill that can be improved, and they work with you to make that happen.
The fantasy
December 31, 2017by: Narodni Trida - United StatesThe Language House Prague is a fast paced rollercoaster full of adrenaline to ease the anxiety of living abroad. Although it is jam packed into 4 weeks, the people that enroll leave with knowledge that can be applied for years. The staff is so exceptional that I wouldn’t be able to pick a favorite person that works there. They don’t just teach you skills in ESL, they provide housing during the 4 weeks, give resources to jobs, and make the Visa process simple and stress free. You will leave this course feeling confident for the months to come. You will get to know every one of your fellow peers and they will feel like family. Yes, it is intense at times but if you just take a deep breath and just do what’s asked, you’ll survive until the end. The course even begins with several tours of the beautiful city of Prague, you’ll learn about their culture, and you’ll even learn a little bit of Czech. Have a fear of public speaking? You’ll feel much more confident after practice lessons with actual Czech students. Worried about culture shock? You will be immersed in a group of peers to help you fit in. Don’t have teaching experience? As long as you are fluent in English and have a good work ethic you’ll be set. Seriously, you’ll be doing something that you would never think you were capable of. There’s nothing bad that I could say about this program and it’s worth every penny. The Language House Prague is an experience that has changed my life forever.
Highly effective! hard to beat!
December 30, 2017by: John Eiby - AustraliaHighly effective and dynamic staff who take an interest in their students - Demand high standards but are achievable! Great package that I believe is hard to beat - having been a registered school teacher in Australia years ago I personally learnt and refreshed a great deal that I had forgotten at University all those years ago. Highly recommended!
No regrets!
December 30, 2017by: THETIS LYDA - Czech RepublicBeing a non native English speakers and having worked in an international school for 4 years, taking the TEFL course at the Language House has been one of the best decisions towards my educational and professional development I've made recently. Not only it helped enhance and boost my teaching skills, but also provided me with new teaching ideas and methodology that I can integrate in my teaching style. The greatest advantage of the Tefl Language House is the staff and teachers. They are available almost 24/7 to assist with lesson planning and assignments but also to provide their valuable help and experience regarding life in the Czech Republic (finding a job/housing, everyday life tips). The morning lessons fully prepare the students and make them ready to teach English to real Czech students in the afternoon. In this way, the students finish the course armed with effective teaching methods, tools and teaching experience in a real classroom. I would recommend the Tefl Language House to anyone who aspires to become a skillful English teacher and wants to study in the most beautiful city of Europe, Prague!
Life abroad
December 30, 2017by: Alexis - Czech RepublicIt was great. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The alumni network available afterwards is priceless. The visa support service is also invaluable. I would give my experience with The Language House a 10/10 every time.
New life abroad
December 30, 2017by: Alexis Lindsay - Czech RepublicIt was great. I received lots of support from The Language House Staff. There is a Language House alums page and that is where I found plenty of employment opportunities. They really support you and have created an excellent alumni network to get your life started abroad.
Great course, great guidance, great program
December 30, 2017by: Chris Brooks - Czech RepublicI took this course a few months ago just to work on getting a freelance visa here in the Czech Republic, but what I got was much more. We were taught everything we needed to know to succeed as English teachers anywhere in the world, including an extensive review in English grammar, which is something none of us really thought about for several years. We were given an excellent framework from which we could build our own lesson plans which I am still using today. They were a bit rigid in using this plan during the student teaching sessions, but it's understandable since most people coming through the program are inexperienced teachers they need drilling to help them through the first few weeks of teaching after the course. Job assistance is great. I was a bit apprehensive about finding work with so many people going through the program each year but I see job postings so frequently and landed the first opportunity I applied for. I've asked around about this as well and within 2-3 months most people are in a pretty good groove with respect to work and life. TLH also has events throughout the year to connect you with other grads, and everyone I've met through these events are very nice people. Also, the beer is cheap.
The Language House TEFL
December 30, 2017by: Abigail Graces - Czech RepublicThe Language House TEFL WAS such a great experience. The course was challenging but fun. I learned a lot of useful techniques and made many connections with people around Prague. The alumni community is strong which helps new teachers adjust to living and working in Prague as well as the support from the staff. I would highly recommend The Language House Tefl.
Great decision
December 30, 2017by: Sam Hicks - ChinaThe Language House was an amazing decision! Amazing and knowledgeable staff, great alum network, and they are always willing to answer any question you have. All of my jobs in Prague were a direct result of their alumni Facebook group - which is very extensive and ever-growing!
TEFL teacher - Czech Republic
December 30, 2017by: Ryan Knowles - United StatesWhen I entered 10 points for each category, I truly meant every bit of it. Chris and the rest of The Language House's [TLH] staff make you feel welcomed right away upon arrival in-country. This program also requires twice the amount of teaching practice hours before certification is awarded. While some may look at it as "just more work," TLH's hands-on lesson approach leaves one more than capable to walk into a classroom upon graduation. In addition to the fine preparation, there is also an amazing social benefits for new arrivals in the program. Using TLH Facebook pages, one is easily able to find job postings and social events involving the several hundred TLH graduates still living in town. Not only in Prague, but from other cities all around the world, graduates who have moved away from Czechia make posts similar to the description above. Overall, I could not recommend this program enough. No matter what "stage of life" you seem to find yourself in, this program is worth every bit of money and time you put into it!
Learn, train, fall in love with Prague
December 30, 2017by: Oscar Zeta Acosta - CanadaThe Course is Awesome. You get tons of actually helpful theory and a chance to hone it through practical experience. They make sure that you get every drop of Prague as an experience too. Most of my class stayed on to teach and/or came back For extended stays since.
Best decision
December 29, 2017by: Rebecca SuhrOnce I decided to move to another country, I was quite overwhelmed. My friend had done this program and recommended it. I’m so glad he did! They really build a community to make the scary challenge of moving somewhere else manageable.
Learn the skills you'll carry with you for the rest of your life!
December 29, 2017by: Aaron - United StatesDepending on who you are, the idea of going abroad to learn a new skill to potentially live and work there can range from being immeasurably exciting to terrifying yet intriguing. Every step of the way, from when you initially show interest in TLH through their website and talking to Chris and his staff, to joining the course and finding accommodation, to completing the course and finding your first work opportunities, there will always be someone there to help you and tell you what you need to know. This is not to say that it is a hand-holding experience, though. This is an intensive course where you'll learn more about the English language, teaching, and yourself than you might imagine. The staff has your best interests at heart and will always want to help you do well (you are making a huge lifestyle change, after all!), but most importantly, they are trustworthy and honest, which gives you the confidence to be even more independent than you thought possible as you navigate your way in a new culture and career. I wouldn't change my experience taking the course, the events afterwards (a year of teaching in Prague followed by a year teaching in Pamplona, Spain), and the people I've met along the way for anything in the world. An absolutely invaluable experience. It certainly won't always be easy, but that's how you know it's absolutely worth it.
A life learning experience
December 29, 2017by: Jacquelin - United StatesThis program was the best decision I could have made. Not only did I learn a lot about ESOL students, but I made once in a life time experiences. After I finished the course I got to travel around the world while teaching. TLH helps with any of your questions about moving, classes and even job opportunities after the course is over.
Great TEFL program in Prague
December 29, 2017by: DavidThe program is excellent and the teacher's are very helpful with lesson plans, preparation with living aboard and finding a job in Prague. Only advice in the beginning which could have been better is the best time of the year to take the course and the "real" cost of living in Prague. If you plan to work right away and not travel. August, September are the best as the Language Schools begin hiring for fall teachers in Prague. October begins the semester or the schools have openings the second half of the year in February or March when other teacher leave after 6 months. From mid June, it's summer vacation and if you plan to work over the summer, you'll need to find a summer language program i.e. kids summer camp to make enough money to live. Cost of living is not as they protray and the days when you could live well on a teacher's salary are gone in Prague. Prague is quite expensive compared to Germany as Rent for a flat share cost more than Germany i.e. Berlin. Also the cost of food is higher as well. So if plan to teach and save money, forget it. You'll need to have extra cash set aside to pay the rental deposit, buy home supplies i.e. bedding and travel.
A great learning experience
December 29, 2017by: Randy F. - United StatesI was looking for a second career. The course tonight me that I was not suited for this work. I was given expert training and advice and consider the program time well spent. The staff is professional, helpful and tough! They went out of their way to help me. I consider myself a friend of the program and would highly recommend it.
Best program out there
December 29, 2017by: Lucy Gosselin - United StatesThis course changed my life. Not only was it a great, comprehensive overview of teaching abroad, but it also provided support and guidance to every student in my class. I had never been outside of the United States before packing and bag and moving to Prague, and it was terrified. This course and the teachers in it provided so much help and instilled so much confidence it me that from day 1 I was no longer afraid. I lived and taught abroad for 2 years in 2 different countries and I couldn't have done it without The Language House.
A single month in Prague
December 29, 2017by: Brayton Hall - Czech RepublicI had never been to Prague before the month-long course at The Language House began, despite having been elsewhere in Europe many times, and so I was actually a bit nervous at the prospect of 1) visiting a new European city 2) actually living there for more than a week 3) taking an intensive course with the real possibility of living in Prague after it was all finished. I hadn't decided on whether I would stay in Prague when I first arrived, and it's entirely because of my extremely positive experience with The Language House that I felt confident about staying long-term after about two weeks into the course. There are many reasons why. First and foremost, the staff at TLH is incredible. I was perhaps uncharitably expecting disgruntled expats who slammed grammar points and routine lesson structures in order to produce TEFL certs in monthly batches. I just wanted to obtain a certificate, in and out, so that I could live and teach in Prague. I was instantly surprised, however, at the kindness and depth of experience apparent in the staff, even from the first weekend I arrived. There are some truly good and intelligent people at TLH who, in addition to their clearly-extensive experience with nervous expats learning to teach English, also know how to expertly APPLY their experience calmly and professionally. It's obvious they've encountered every possible obstacle legally, professionally, personally, medically, etc., etc., etc. All of this makes TLH a very human-centered environment, which is truly invaluable when it comes to creating a sense of home and familiarity for a gigantic group of expats coming together for a month of intensive coursework, who are all also trying to adjust to Prague itself while knowing minimal Czech, public transport knowledge, and cultural norms. Second, the course itself is as polished, organized, and professional as possible. It's clear that the instructors, who teach a variety of lessons including ESA methodology, grammar, intro Czech, demo English lessons, more grammar, etc., have taught their lessons countless times, and they know exactly what works. Neither does it feel routine or stale. The instructors truly seem to love what they do, and I can't recall a single lesson where I didn't laugh. There is a sense of humor and and welcome that pervades even the driest grammar lessons, and this is one of the key aspects of TLH as a TEFL cert school. I cannot overstate the value of this. It made going to class each day, as well as teaching real Czech students at night, feel less like going to school and more like an engaging, authentic, and even fun professional experience. I was shocked at how prepared I felt, after only a month, to confidently construct an English lesson at a moment's notice for any level of skill. Finally, apart from the coursework and the human-centered environment, the most important aspect of TLH is its clear sense of community and guidance that extends beyond the first month. The alumni community is obviously invaluable for both professional and social reasons. There are routine social meetups for alumni, job postings, apartment-hunting advice, legal/bureaucratic advice, as well as continuous outreach to expat groups focused on different hobbies such as theater, art, and music. I cannot recommend TLH highly enough, and it was likely the single most determining factor for my decision to stay in Prague long-term.
One of the best experiences of my life
December 29, 2017by: Jesse Moore - Czech RepublicI completed TLH in August of 2016 and I would highly recommend this course to anybody interested in teaching abroad. The management and administration is very helpful. They are always available for advice and to answer any questions you have. While the course is intense, it more than prepares you for teaching English to foreign learners here in Prague and elsewhere. In fact the course is so thorough that I haven't had any difficulties yet, and I had no previous experience in teaching. Additionally, Prague is a fun, affordable, beautifully charming city. In my opinion, the most valuable part of TLH is the alumni network. There is a huge network of people that have come through TLH and we stick together like family. There is always an opportunity to find quality work, assistance with visa approval and other bureaucratic issues, finding an apartment or flat, and virtually anything else one might need when moving to a new place. Even simple things such as buying/selling goods, locating fun times in the city, or travel advice, the alumni network is unbelievably supportive. This course was fantastic.
TEFL
December 29, 2017by: Zach Flaherty - United StatesI️ had an amazing experience in this program. Instructors were passionate and engaging. Also the owner was willing to come in early and stay late to help with content I️ was getting stuck on. The Facebook page always seems to have job postings or a place for advice. I️ highly recommend this course!!!
Best experience ever
December 29, 2017by: Caleb Kavli - United StatesI’m going to keep this simple and to the point. If you want to travel the world and teach a language that you already speak fluently, then you should get certified by The Language House. Their course is not easy by any means. They pushed me to learn a new skill quickly, and the course was intense but totally worth it. Chris Westergaard and staff do an incredible job of making sure that you have the tools to succeed before, during, and after the course. Look at it this way. Do you want to come to Prague and hang out for four weeks and take an easy course that won’t prepare you to actually teach in front of classes of real people? If so, don’t take the TEFL course from the Language House. However, if you want to be taken out of your comfort zone to learn a new skill and really get prepared to teach on your own, then sign up for this course. They are fantastic and I promise this is a decision you won’t regret. What are you waiting for? Sign up!
High quality, intensive course!
December 29, 2017by: Erin - Czech RepublicThe Language House's 4-week TEFL certification course was really great. It was difficult, intense, challenging, demanding, stressful, confidence-building, validating, supportive, rewarding and a whole lot of fun. Register for this course only if you're ready to work hard - you can't just coast along on personal charm, this is a serious education! But it was a wonderful experience and it gave me everything I needed to start teaching ESL immediately. Now, I feel confident that I can go to a non-English-speaking country and support myself as an ESL teacher, either independently or as part of a language school. Definitely worth the investment of money, sweat and tears. The teachers, staff and other students have made my Language House TEFL experience truly incredible. One year later, I'm still successfully teaching English in Prague and meeting amazing new people through the Language House network and events. I wholeheartedly recommend The Language House TEFL certificate course!
2 and a half years later, it's still one of the best experiences of my life
December 28, 2017by: Sean Matlock - United StatesI took The Language House's TEFL course in April of 2015. I had all the reservations I imagine the average American does flying off to another country alone, but The Language House dissolved every concern within hours of my arrival to Prague. They take care of everything for you from the beginning, and exceeded every expectation I had for a transition to a foreign country. As most people have already reviewed the course itself, I'm going to say a few things about my experiences post-course to help reinforce why they should be your choice if you're considering a TEFL degree. I ended up living in Czechia for 2 years after my course finished, and the influence and impact TLH had on my time there was integral to everything I did. They were directly responsible for my first two jobs in the country (a one month intensive course for Russian and Ukrainian students, followed by an English summer camp for second language speakers) and continued hosting events and parties throughout the year that kept me connected with those still in the city and the new students that constantly flow into the school each month. One of my fellow students ended up being my room mate, who ended up joining an improv group consisting of other expats. My social life expanded more rapidly and dramatically than it ever has, and I was never short for something to do or people to see in the city. After my summer camp job ended, I got a job at a private school for a year and eventually transitioned to video game testing before finally moving back to America towards the beginning of 2017. The time I spent in Czechia was the best of my life, and the experience living there has changed the course of my future forever. I plan on leaving the country again, hopefully by the end of 2018, because of the drive for travel and exploration that began there. All of it started with The Language House.

The best decision
December 28, 2017by: Summer Thompson - United StatesThe Language House's TEFL Program is second to none. With amazing instructors, rigorous coursework, and a supportive alumni network, I had no worries or issues getting a teaching job afterward. I took the course in May 2016, and am now teaching in South Korea, with many exciting teaching opportunities ahead of me. I always recommend the Language House as the best TEFL program out there.
Teaching English
December 27, 2017by: Dave Davidson - United KingdomDid an intense four-week TEFL programme with The Language House. Got a job before lunch time the first working day after the course ended. Definitely worth it. Now living and teaching abroad, meeting lots of interesting people. I also feel that the course prepared me well for real world teaching.
Above and beyond what I expected
December 26, 2017by: Matt - Czech RepublicChris and the team at TLH were friendly and helpful from the moment I applied, through helping me settle into Prague, and then throughout the course, and even now after the course. If you're looking to do a TEFL certificate, you won't find a better company or a better group of people to do it with. I promise it'll be one of the most rewarding, exciting and fun months of your life during the course, and then before and after the course they are always on hand to help.
Excellent preparation!
December 26, 2017by: Courtney McClure - United StatesI greatly enjoyed my time with TLH: the people were amazing, the community was supportive, the lessons and course were highly instructive, hands-on, and practical, and the price was reasonable. I couldn’t have asked for a better program.
Fast paced and intense
December 26, 2017by: Kacie - Czech RepublicTLH is a fast paced and intense 4 week program. Though it’s intense I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I met dozens of lifelong friends and learned so many valuable tips and tricks for teaching English. I would not feel prepared going into TEFL teaching without TLH.
TEFL student
December 26, 2017by: Francisco Gornes - Czech RepublicThis month long course was an incredible experience. While it was extremely demanding and stressful the instructors want you to succeed so they prepare you for everything you might find in the real world. I'm extremely glad that I ended up taking my TEFL certificate here at The Language House.
The Language House alumni
December 26, 2017by: Anonymous - South KoreaMy month at The Language House has been the toughest and most rewarding experience of my life. The training was thorough, the staff was knowledge and were there for you during the whole course. I went in unsure if I wanted to teach afterwards, and here I am with a job on the other side of the world! It was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. I would recommend this program to everyone. It's worth it.
July 2016
December 26, 2017by: MichaelThe staff at The Language House are super friendly and helpful before, during, and after the course. I had unique experience because I took the course, left Prague, and then came back a year after I had finished the course. I didn't expect the staff and everyone to remember a full year after I last saw everyone, but they remembered my name and they helped me get my visa set up, and were in constant communication with me throughout my visa process. The resources you get once you complete the course are invaluable, and the community of TEFLers here is equally resourceful! Prague is a great city, and The Language House does a very good job in making you feel welcome and at home! 5/5 stars :)
Get what you give
December 26, 2017by: JosieTLH is an intense 4-week course. If you thrive in an environment where you are thrown into the deep end then this is a good program for you. Even though you are thrown into this experience with intensity, there are great staff and professors who have your back. And after the experience there is a huge network of people for whatever help or friendships or connections you want to make. Prague is a great city. The students are fun and enjoy the experience with you. I am very happy with the course at TLH. I went with a positive attitude and an open mind and received so much in return.
The best TEFL course ever!!!
December 26, 2017by: Dragana - United KingdomI wanted to take TEFL course for a long time. I've done my research and contacted few schools. I opted for The Language House Prague because of the way they dealt with me via email and over the phone. I was apprehensive at first and course was intense. Only thanks to Chris and his top notch staff I was able to go thru it. They are all amazing and always available!! They believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. It was definitely worth it!!!

TLH TEFL 2016
December 23, 2017by: Kerri - CanadaThe Language House TEFL course in Prague was amazing! The staff got to know me long before I even arrived in Prague! I felt completely ready to move to a new continent. The course itself was definitely intense. We were busy! But despite the work, the staff of TLH always encouraged meet ups throughout the course to familiarize ourselves with the city. These were always fun! Before completion of the course, TLH staff helped us with housing, work visas, and job opportunities. This eased many minds! Although I completed the course last November, I still keep in touch with many of the staff and classmates on an alumni Facebook page. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in teaching English abroad! It is well worth the work!
The best TEFL course I have encountered
December 22, 2017by: DanielIf I could give the quality of the course a higher rating than 10 I would! I spent a lot of time looking at TEFL courses around the world and decided on TLH. I do not regret the decision one bit except. Chris Westergaard assembled some of the best TEFL instructors in the industry in one great school. He seems like he is available 24/7 to help with any issue, even after you have finished the course. The course is quite intensive, but well worth it! Students are pushed about to the limit, but in a way that prepares them for real world teaching. At the same time the course is fun due to the varied personalities of the instructors. Getting to see Prague with the tours that Nica and Andrea offer are an added bonus! It is a great way to learn about the unique culture in the Czech Republic.
When a fluke turns into fabulous
December 22, 2017by: The Hot One - United StatesI had no intention of taking a TEFL course, but when The Language House opportunity fell into my lap, I went for it! I'm open to new challenges and I'm glad I went with TLH because it opened tons of doors for me in Prague, Internationally and back home in the States. It was hard, but worth it. The program and the networking community keep you connected to work, the Czech Community and fellow participants. Like anything, you get out what you put in. Your attitude controls everything. This isn't a problem solver, it is a step up to whatever is next, at least it was for me. For the older person, know that this program can skew to 20-30 yr olds, but I took this as a plus and used my age and experience to an advantage :) Very grateful I took The Language House TEFL course!

Top-flight instruction, invaluable experience
December 22, 2017by: SatisfiedTLHAlumTLH in Prague is the perfect place to train for intensive, real world experience. The staff sets a high bar, but offers all kinds of support to help you get there. Very responsive, often even in off hours. Challenging, but also a chance to learn from each other and build great relationships.
The Language House TEFL
December 22, 2017by: 2017 TEFL Student - Czech RepublicMoving abroad can be extremely stressful and overwhelming, but The Language House could not have made the transition easier for me. Starting months before my move when I originally applied, I was in contact with the owner and many other staff members who were there to help me with every step along the way. Housing, visa, social circle, and general advice for moving abroad was all included on top of an excellent TEFL certification course. The course itself is intensive and you will leave with all of the knowledge and tools you will need to teach independently wherever you may choose. Since graduation I have been able to be a part of The Language House community that offers a home away from home while I'm so far from family and friends. I could not recommend this program enough, you will not regret choosing The Language House.
Hustling
December 22, 2017by: Bear face - Czech RepublicThis course is pretty good, I would highly recommend it over an online certification. The staff at the school is knowledgeable and the overall experience is rewarding. There is a lot of help available for your various needs. The housing was pretty good the school is centrally located.
Excellent experience and course
December 22, 2017by: Erik Stadnik - Czech RepublicThe Language House TEFL in Prague is a top-notch certification course. The course is rigorous and provides both valuable classroom instruction and hands-on training teaching actual students. The staff is available, approachable, and uniformly knowledgeable--they even provide support before the course begins and help walk students moving to Prague with every step of the process. The course itself was an excellent preparation for real-life teaching, featuring teaching techniques using various methods and materials. If you are willing to work hard and really learn how to be a good teacher, I cannot recommend The Language House highly enough.
Incredibly helpful and supportive
December 22, 2017by: Lauren M. - Czech RepublicFrom the beginning I felt that the language House was so personal. Extensive communication occurred over Facebook as well as a one on one phone call. I felt that they were doing everything in their power to make it an easy transition for me. The classes were thorough and there was ample time spent in front of real students, which for me, was the most important part. Staff was great, location is amazing. I left with a new little family in Prague. So thank you TLH!
A great way to learn the ropes in a fun environment
December 17, 2017by: Stuart Gregory - JapanI had a really great experience at The Language House (TLH). The instructors are all experts in teaching and there is a lot of in-class practice with actual students. Here are some of the basic things that you might be concerned about: 1. Housing - Close to the school, about a 10 minute commute by train. I stayed in school housing and had a great, spacious apartment with a kitchen and dining room. 2. Content - You learn everything that you would ever need to about teaching. The staff is available for questions and very supportive, and the lessons themselves are interesting and memorable. You also get tested rigorously on the things that you go through, so it has to stick. 3. Visa support - They work with an expert on Czech visas, so no need to worry. I don't know of anyone in my class who had trouble getting a visa. 4. Job search - The school has connections with English schools all over Prague, and they also have a good reputation so it was easy for my classmates to find employment. Some had even been hired before the course ended. 5. Post-course support - There's a great TLH community, so you can always ask teaching questions or get support finding new jobs when you need it. It's great to know that there's support out there even after graduation. 6. Cultural assimilation - We had Czech lessons and took staff-led tours around the area on several occasions, so you really get a taste of what it's like to live in the Czech Republic. However, please be warned. The course is high quality, but it's also incredibly intensive. You'll have to put in a lot of work, but it's worth it in the end.
The fantasy
December 17, 2017by: Kaitlyn Chandler - Czech RepublicIf you're thinking of signing up for this program, DO IT. It has been the best decision of my life. The Language House helps you every step of the way. They prepare you extremely well for the real world of teaching, provide an excellent review of English grammar, and teach you everything you need to know about life in Prague. The best thing has been the alumni community. Everyone looks out for each other, and new job opportunities are exchanged all the time. I've made some incredible friends and have had the experience of a lifetime all thanks to TLH!
Not only a great course, but a great community
December 17, 2017by: Lincoln - Czech RepublicThe Language House TEFL was the best decision I have ever made. A few reasons why this course is the best: 1. Clearly presented and helpful teacher training/advice. 2. A solid support system for anyone moving abroad alone. (i.e. way less stress.) 3. A program that is helpful and supportive even years after graduating. I cannot suggest this program highly enough.
Once in a lifetime experience!
December 17, 2017by: Ashley - Czech RepublicI absolutely loved my month at The Language House! I did the course in November 2016 and I am still currently living in Prague and involved in The Language House community. They are even helpful months after you finish and you become part of an alumni group of thousands where there are constantly jobs being offered! I would do the course all over again tomorrow and recommend it for everyone!
Great staff, wonderful experience!
December 17, 2017by: Emma - Czech RepublicThe Language house was the perfect choice! They helped me prepare everything for my stay in Prague before I arrived, the course prepared me in every conceivable way for work as an English foreign language teacher, and the amazing staff continued support me long after the course completed. After helping me to secure my work visa, the wonderful alumni community also helped me to find a full time teaching position at a preschool in Prague. I've been happily living and working in the Czech Republic for almost 2 years now, and I cannot thank the lovely staff of The Language House enough.
TEFL: amazing program!
August 22, 2016by: Clara - United StatesAt first, I was reluctant to sign up for an english teaching course abroad. My biggest fear was that I would pay a lot of money in terms of travel, accommodations and the course itself, only to be disappointed and stuck in a miserable program abroad for a month or, worse, get totally ripped off. Based on the reviews I read online, and my research overall, The Language House seemed like the best option given my travel interests. And, it did not disappoint!! For simplicity, here's a list of why I'd encourage anyone looking to teach abroad to sign up for The Language House: 1.) Logistics: If you are traveling from far away, The Language House makes it way less stressful to get settled. They provide airport pick up and great housing with other students. They also offer an orientation before the program starts so you can familiarize yourself with Prague. Additionally, they even help with the silly/unexpected stressful stuff-- For instance, my luggage got lost, and I was instructed to call the airport. I was a bit worried about the language barrier and getting my address right. So, instead, my housing host called the airport for me AND schlepped my luggage up to my room while I was in class. It was little things like this that made me sure I had chosen a great program. So much thoughtfulness and attention to detail. 2.) Location: Prague is an incredible city. It's beautiful and has a lot of history as well as sites to see. Night life is humming with activity and a myriad of choices: you can have a cold beer by the river, go beer garden hopping, hit up an absinthe bar or even a 5 story club with *themed* levels. The Language house site is also within walking distance and easily accessed by tram from student housing. 3.) Community: Not only will you have a whole community of peers during the program, but you will also have access to the whole TLH staff and alums. The alums even showed us around the city our first week of school, and continue to be an active component of the program. This sense of community is also very helpful when you're later looking for jobs and need advice or other info. 4.) Teaching and Learning: The course itself is definitely not a walk in the park. If you came to party in Prague first and foremost, then this program is probably not for you. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to studying and lesson planning. Keep in mind your daily schedule is something like this: 9:30-1pm (class), 1pm-5pm (lesson planning/free time), 5pm-8pm (teaching). I wouldn't recommend this program to someone who is not serious about learning how to teach english. But, on the flip side, if you are really trying to learn how to teach, you're going to get more than a strong foundation at TLH. Overall, I really enjoyed this program and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in teaching English!
Phenomenal program
July 09, 2016by: NickThe Language House Prague was an amazing program to go through to get certified to teach English. The Language House offered more than I could have ever imagined. Chris Westergaard runs a very well managed company and makes sure everyone is taken care of. Signing up with the Language House course was honestly the best decision I've ever made. Thank you Chris!
Best TEFL Course in the world
October 13, 2015by: Mike Wolfe - PragueThe Language House is a top notch certification program. They not only provided me with the skills needed to teach abroad, but also provided great job and housing assistance. You will also be surrounded by a great community of life long friends that are teaching all over the world. We are even having an awesome party at a castle here this weekend...one of the many perks of being a TLH alum.
Awesome
October 13, 2015by: Moneal - PragueNot only did TLH provide an excellent education, it continues to provide me endless resources as an alumnus in Prague. Before I arrived to Prague. The Language House set me up with housing for the duration of the course, including transportation from the airport to my apartment. During the course, the helpful teachers ensured that I was more than prepared to enter the world of teaching English, helping me to prepare my own lesson plans and requiring hours of student teaching in a classroom to engage in real life experience. Beyond the education, TLH created a community of TEFL graduates in Prague and made my transition moving abroad incredibly smooth. All the thumbs up.
Probably the Best Choice I've Made
October 12, 2015by: William - PragueThree years ago, I took The Language House (TLH)'s one-month accreditation course to be an English teacher here in Prague. A lot of the awesomeness of the last three years is due to that decision. While I no longer teach (I work in marketing here), TLH's intensive course gave me the framework to be a decent teacher from the start. Also, the chance to do real hands-on lessons with actual students, with a trained observer giving guidance and feedback, is invaluable. The owner of the program truly cares about the alumni, and it shows. The greatest thing about TLH (and what makes it, in my opinion, leagues ahead of any other Prague alternatives) is that it has a strong network of graduates who stick together, help one another, and are in my own personal opinion, among the smartest, most interesting, and most thoughtful people I've met in my life. Some of the alum from my month's course are now my lifelong friends. So, when you're looking for an accreditation course, I think you can maybe find similar quality in one or two courses, in terms of the teaching preparation. But you absolutely won't find the network and community that comes with TLH. It is both invaluable and irreplacable. If you're looking to move abroad and teach English (and in Prague, which is an amazing city), you're best bet is definitely The Language House.
Most Helpful Experience
October 12, 2015by: Jane Margaret - PragueI can't imagine my life in Prague had I not signed up with The Language House. The training is not just extensive, but also fun and interesting. The entire staff is super nice and really knows their stuff (both grammar and teaching). Also, the other students (about 20) in my class were such wonderful people. I've been in Prague for 2 years now, and some of my best friends are people from my TLH course. Getting your TEFL certificate with TLH is a perfect way to have a successful start in a new country. Everyone from my class had a job within a month of completion. I teach at two preschools now and I couldn't be happier :)
GREAT Experience!
October 12, 2015by: Nicole J. Adelman - PragueOne of the best decisions and experiences of my life. I received an A+ stellar TEFL education under Chris Westergaard’s and his amazing staff’s tutelage. I started working right away with their assistance, I became grounded in a foreign culture and country without any big hiccups, and I continue to feel supported and integrated into the TEFL community that The Language House provides. I honestly can’t suggest this course and this school more highly. Run, don’t walk, to The Language House in Prague!
Just Do It
October 12, 2015by: Peter Hadjokas - PragueThe Language House opened up a new world to me at a time in my life when I needed a new world opened up. I'm living in Prague and working at a translation company now. I'm making it happen! A lot of luck plays into making it happen abroad, but also a lot of help along the way. The Language House was and continues to be my help along the way. It's how I made the friends I have over here, how I found a place to live in, how I figured almost everything out about navigating the proverbial waters of living and being overseas (i.e., getting a visa, getting a work permit, etc.). Consider doing this course. It doesn't matter how old you are, what your background is. It takes a little cheese, but if you take it seriously and put in the work, it pays off in ways you can't possible know unless you Just Do It!
The Language House is home, the world is our backyard!
October 12, 2015by: Vica Spaulding - PragueI started off in another course, but quickly found it to be incompetent. I called up The Language House and they immediately made me feel confident and at home. I never felt behind or lonely. The course is intensive, but it is presented in the way you are meant to teach, so you get to see the method, as well as practice it yourself with your own Czech students! Before I started the course, I only ever worked with children, and was terrified of teaching adults. While I still like working with kids better, I can go into a classroom of adults confident and sure of my ability to teach. The network of alumni is abundant and welcoming. It is a way to connect and make friends, and build your professional network. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Everyday I am TEFLing
October 12, 2015by: Nichole - PragueThe Language House has been such an awesome experience! They have provided so much help and encouragement throughout the journey. Also, the community that create makes the adjustment to living abroad so much easier and exciting. Westergaard will do anything for anyone of his students! It was a great experience! The course is challenging and demanding but you will come out prepared and ready to teach!
The Language House and Prague
October 12, 2015by: Erica H - PragueI moved to Prague over a year ago and it was a great decision! It is an amazing city: a great place for a short teaching stint or starting a career in ESL. I prefer working in the private preschool setting, but it is easy to find work here at any age level. I couldn't have made the smooth transition to life as an ESL teacher without the Language House. It is a very intensive course that will consume you for a full month, but you will come out on the other side as a capable teacher. I had not experience with teaching before the course, but it prepares you in every way: lesson planning, public speaking, linguistic theory, job placement, connections with local schools...I cannot recommend this school enough.
The Language House: A life-changer!
October 12, 2015by: Suzie Smith - PragueI can't say enough about how incredible my experience with The Language House was. The course, indeed, was intense and very thorough, but it was taught in the most fantastic and fun way. The teachers are friendly and very knowledgeable, and are available in any way they can to help you. TLH promotes and encourages a family-like experience through orientation, tours, and many social events during and after the course. It offers so much more than just the TEFL certificate. You gain lifelong friends along the way, and become a part of the supportive community to help you make this beautiful city your new home.
Best TEFL course I could've hoped for!
October 12, 2015by: Dana W - Prague 2I took the course at The Language House in 2012 and I still live in Prague to this day. From the very beginning, I felt like The Language House was really supportive and helpful. I had never been to Prague before, but I knew I wanted to live in Europe. I had a friend who did the course here in Prague and had nothing but wonderful things to say about the course and the city. The accommodations were in a great location really close to the center of the city which was perfect for getting to class everyday and sightseeing. The lessons were fun and engaging, but the thing that helped prepare me the most for being a real English teacher was the time spent teaching real Czech students. The Language House required all of us to teach many hours in front of real Czech students and I couldn't have asked for a better way to prepare for actually being a teacher here. The time I spent in front of the classroom made me more comfortable and confident as a teacher and as a result, it was easy for me to find a job afterwards! They were also incredibly helpful by giving a resume workshop and by posting job opportunities on a daily basis. The Language House provided me with the proper tools to go out and find a job here, but they also provided me with a second family. I came to Prague not knowing anyone and I immediately bonded with all the people in my course. What I didn't know was that The Language House community would really grow to be my family. There is a huge Language House Alum group in Prague and everyone was so welcoming. I can definitely say that if it hadn't been for the wonderful people I met through the Language House, I wouldn't still be in Prague today. All in all I can't say enough positive things about The Language House!! If you're thinking about teaching abroad and want to be in an incredible fairytale city (and let's face it who doesn't?) then this program is for you!!
Experience of a Lifetime!
October 12, 2015by: Laura S - PragueThe Language House TEFL has changed my life. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. The program was everything I needed it to be. It provided a solid foundation for teaching in the real world. It emphasized the importance of knowing, understanding, and being able to comfortably explain grammar and other language concepts. It also required double the amount of student teaching--which was stressful at times, but definitely worth it. I graduate the program feeling more confident entering the teaching workforce in Prague than I could've hoped for. The course also provides an unbeatable social life. The friendships and connections that are made through TLH are golden.
Great Preparation for Teaching
October 12, 2015by: Allison - PragueThis program definitely prepared me to teach in Prague--the instructors were extremely helpful as I was applying for schools, planning demo lessons, and even just fielding general questions about getting settled in Prague. I also made some good friends in this course and enjoy the sense of community TLH fosters even after you graduate!
Teaching in Prague
October 12, 2015by: teacherHad a wonderful time learning to become an English teacher with this program. It provided a lot of guidance and practice. The community of Language House graduates in Prague is an invaluable asset in feeling at home in a foreign country.
A smart step to a new career
October 12, 2015by: M. Deiser - PragueChoosing The Language House as my TEFL provider was one of the smartest things I've ever done. They offer all the help and support you need to move abroad and learn to teach English. Without the 12 hours of teaching practice I never would have been able to teach a class with any confidence.
More than a Fairytale
October 12, 2015by: Molly Giles - PragueI came to Prague to change my life and do something extraordinary while I could. I had no idea what I was getting into when I took the course at The Language House, but it has been so rewarding. The staff are experts, and dedicated to preparing and training the best teachers. I have had no bad job interviews, and part of this comes from being branded with The Language House reputation. Language schools all over Prague know the school, and are impressed with its graduates. I learned so much about being an effective teacher and so much about who I am personally and professionally. Another huge perk of being a graduate is the community that you automatically fall into. I have met so many wonderful people here and am grateful for the connections that The Language House has provided.
Awesome course!
October 12, 2015by: Brigid Sullivan - PragueIf you're looking for the chance to teach English and live abroad look no further, this is the course to get your adventure started! I took the TEFL course at the Language House this past May and I couldn't be happier with the opportunity it has given me to be able to live and work in Prague. The course itself was well structured and the staff was very helpful. I was a little nervous about packing everything up and moving to a foreign country where I had never been before but because of the strong network and community the Language House has full of past graduates it was a lot easier to make connections with those inside and outside of the course I completed. If you're looking for an adventure and chance to live abroad, I highly recommend the Language House in Prague!
Fantastic TEFL and Young Learners Training
October 11, 2015by: Charles Anderson - PraugeI took my TEFL with The Language House and I'm really happy I did. The teachers are all well trained and professional. Many go way above and beyond in their work to really provide a high quality course that will help to enhance student's teaching ability. The only thing I wish they improved upon was their Visa assistance, but I'm fairly sure Chris is working on it.
King TEFL Awaits...
October 11, 2015by: Richard Feeney - PragueGoing on this course is easily the best decision I've ever made. Moving to a new country is a terrifying experience for anyone but The Language House made it so enjoyable and rewarding that it's hard to look back. A fantastic course is on offer that can prepare anyone for working as an English teacher here in Prague or anywhere else. Reflecting on it a year later I have no complaints. Simply wonderful.
August TEFL Course
October 11, 2015by: Amy Albright - PragueI received my TEFL certification from The Language House in August and had an absolutely amazing experience. I would recommend this program to anyone who is interested in teaching abroad. The staff is very welcoming and helpful and genuinely cares about your success. They do whatever they can to make you feel prepared to teach and help you adjust to life abroad. If you're even slightly considering getting your TEFL certification and moving to Europe this is the way to go, you won't regret it!
Two Thumbs Up for The Language House TEFL Course
October 11, 2015by: Caitlin Glasgow - PragueI took the TEFL course at the Language House this past August of 2015. It is incredible how much you learn in just a short four weeks about being a teacher and living life abroad. The staff is extremely helpful and is there to support and encourage you every step of the way. If you are interested in teaching abroad in a beautiful city while meeting awesome people, then you will definitely not regret attending The Language House course. I will never forget my experience here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure of a lifetime!
Terrific course. Wouldn't change a thing!
October 11, 2015by: SJ - PragueAfter graduating from their TEFL course earlier this year along with the Young Learners Teaching program – I’m now successfully working as an English teacher in Prague and can confidently say I have been trained and well-equipped for the TEFL world thanks to The Language House. Chris Westergaard and the entire school a terrific job at caring for their trainees (even finding me last minute accommodation arrangements!) and preparing them well for teaching in the long run. I can't recommend a better place to do the course.
August course
October 11, 2015by: NedIThis course offers a great learning experience to anyone who wants to teach abroad. Without close to any teaching experience, I quickly absorbed and practiced teaching many different levels of English students. In the first part of the day we went to class and learned about teaching methodology and in the second part of the day (Monday through Thursday) we each taught a forty-five minute English class. In our free time we lesson planned and explored as much of the city as we could.
August 2015 TLH TEFL
October 11, 2015by: Derek Swinamer - PragueI was motivated to take the Language House's TEFL course so I could both move abroad and live in Europe as well as find a way to work and travel. This course was a 4 week intensive TEFL program and it certainly pushed me to become a good teacher. I was not an English teacher before the course and did not have a background in education. The method does work. The staff was knowledgeable, the students were all very good, the location was excellent, and overall a good experience. Many of my fellow classmates stayed in Prague and Prague is an amazing city. If you decide to teach English Prague is a great city and this course is a good one.

BEST TEFL PROGRAM IN PRAGUE
October 11, 2015by: Jennica - PragueWhen I decided I was going to take the plunge and move abroad to teach English, I was unsure about what school to earn my TEFL certificate with. The minute I stumbled upon the Language House I knew it was the right school. I thought it was too good to be true - the reviews of past graduates were phenomenal, the staff seemed very involved and friendly, and it was located in beautiful Prague (with helpful housing for the month of the program). But it was everything I could have hoped for in a TEFL program and more. I met amazing people, learned so much from the teachers and observers, and felt really prepared entering into the English teaching world. Their vast alumni community immediately makes you feel welcome, and if you think you might want to try teaching somewhere else in the world, the Language House provides you with people and resources that can help you do just that. I decided to stay in Prague because I LOVE it here, and they were very helpful with providing us with various job opportunities all over the city. If you are considering moving to Prague (or anywhere, really) to teach English, look no further for the best TEFL program.
Living the dream in Prague!
October 11, 2015by: Noah K - PragueI attended The Language House in March of 2015. The course provided me with the information, skills and teaching experience necessary to confidently teach English as a foreign language. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and supportive. Through their guidance and support I have been happily teaching in The Czech Republic since. The Language House has continued to be an incredible resource and support network these past months. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to teach English abroad.
The Best Decision I Ever Made!
October 11, 2015by: Jane - PragueI took the course at The Language House in April 2015. I searched for a TEFL course all over the world, weighed the pros and cons and the TLH came out on top. The pros: A YLT program A greater number of teaching hours (I wanted practice) A vast community of past graduates Excellent Teachers In Prague, which is a beautiful city Reasonably priced During my research the main point that kept coming up again and again was the community. It's true. My first night in Prague I made friends for life. My first weekend, our class was invited out to a birthday party of a past graduate. Everyone there was willing to give advice, answer questions and was incredibly welcoming. The program itself is difficult. Be prepared to work hard. It's 4 weeks of intense class work, lesson planning and teaching. This is not a vacation. You get a lot out of it though. I felt confident and prepared to start teaching right away. I am still developing as a teacher, of course, but the course gave me the skills I needed. If you have any questions, contact TLH. They are more than willing to answer any questions you might have about the program and if it will be a good fit for you.

A Wonderful Experience
October 10, 2015by: Cammie D. - PragueThe Language House managed to far exceed my expectations. I was a little hesitant to go to a foreign country to teach English with no teaching experience whatsoever, but the instructors couldn't have been more supportive and dedicated to helping the students. The course itself was extremely engaging (they make learning grammar FUN?!) and each day you walk away feeling more confident in your abilities. One of the most rewarding aspects of this program was being able to teach in a real classroom setting with real ESL students. At first it seems daunting, but the feedback and constructive criticism you receive from your observers helps a great deal to pin your strengths and weaknesses in the classroom. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is interested in becoming TEFL Certified or to anyone who is just willing to push themselves and just try something new.
Come join The Language House family
October 10, 2015by: Andrew Stewart - PrahaThe Language House (TLH) in Prague provided me with a fantastic education and an unforgettable experience. The staff are motivated, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, but most importantly, the alumni network is unreal. I remember when I was researching the various TEFL programs in Prague; they all cost about the same and all ultimately provided the same thing (an education and a certificate). But TLH had the most student teaching hours (practice teaching is just so invaluable) and also I had a good feeling about the sense of community and family that seemed to surround the program, and I was right. So many people make life-long friends and start long-term relationships from within our group, it's really amazing. The Language House stands apart in my mind due to the community.
Experience "the Fantasy" in Prague
October 10, 2015by: Jordyn Carrillo - PragueNot only do you learn how to teach english like a pro- you also learn how to be a successful expat in Prague. This course taught me everything I needed and so much more. The super strong alumni presence in Prague as well as throughout the world helps to create that support you need when your homesick, just getting your feet, or really want to go for a beer. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to teach english, learn how to live in Prague, meet new people, or just sit and watch Chris Westergaard and the plethora of teachers and observers be amazing at what they do. Thanks Westergaard!
A great program!
October 09, 2015by: Addie - PragueI had never taught before starting the course at TLH so, needless to say, I was terrified. The trainers and staff at TLH are prepared for this though so they prepared us well and helped us through those first scary teaching moments. One of the reasons I chose this program was because it offered the most in-course teaching hours and I was so glad I did! Another reason I chose it was for it's great alumni family. There are tons of TLHers all over the world! You can get info on teaching in countries everywhere.
Just Awesome!
October 09, 2015by: Ryan K. - PragueBy happy coincidence, my college roommate of four years took this course while I was finishing my last semester at university. He told me enough to start looking into moving to Prague myself. The staff at The Language turned out to be fantastic! They provide wonderful hands on training, with twice as many practice hours as most other programs. As well as wonderful lessons and assignments to help further our own understanding of the English language. On a social note, the network of alumni is Prague is huge. Normally I would consider myself a quiet person, but once I moved to Prague I began meeting so many new people. If you are even considering teaching in Prague, I can confidently reccomend that you go through TLH. You will not regret it I promise.
Amazing Experience!
October 08, 2015by: Anonymous - PragueI completed a month long course at The Language House in August 2015. It was an absolutely amazing experience! I can confidently say that I came out of this course with the knowledge and skills needed to teach at any level. The course itself is intensive throughout but I came out with a greater knowledge of the language and confidence in front of a classroom. The entire staff at The Language House is great! They are willing to help you with anything. The facilities provided are nice and located in an excellent part of town. The course itself has a good mixture of learning in the classroom, learning from your peers, and teaching your own lessons to a variety of students. For me, actually teaching the students gave me the most confidence in my abilities and the feedback from my instructors help make me a better teacher. Since the course I have had no trouble finding work and I attribute that to the skills that I acquired from this course. The Language House also has a large and active graduate community which helps you get to know many people very quickly. Overall, if you are looking to teach in Prague I highly recommend
Just Do it!
October 08, 2015by: Emma GTaking a course at the Language House was such a great decision...They truly help you get prepared to teach English and help you set up a life here in Prague. Not only do I feel like I already have a group of friends, but I also know that if I ever have a problem there are so many expats I can turn to! I was also able to receive not only my TEFL certification but also a Young Learners Certification...I feel that having both certifications will not only help me succeed here in Prague but also help me if I ever decide to head to another country to teach! The staff at TLH are very helpful and truly want you to succeed in the program.
Definitely Worth Doing
October 07, 2015by: Lizzie PGoing into the course at The Language House, I was a little nervous. All of the reviews I had read all talked about how hard the course is. The course is hard, but it is also very doable. There's enough information and training for a full semester stuffed into a short month long course. The staff, however, ease you into the swing of things so you don't feel like you're drowning. They also sincerely want to see you succeed and do well. They go above and beyond just helping in the classroom. They help with housing, visas, jobs, and anything else that might be causing you issues. I would highly recommend this course to anyone thinking about getting a TEFL certification. I would also recommend getting the YLT certificate as well. Adrienne is a wonderful instructor and really knows her stuff.
TEFL Course in Prague at The Language House
October 06, 2015by: Kasey R. - PragueWhen I decided to attend The Language House TEFL course in Prague I didn't know exactly what I was getting myself into. It was more than I could have imagined. I thought it would be easy to come to Prague and immediately start teaching. Not the case. The Language House taught me so much more I needed to learn about grammar, teaching and confidence. I was able to practice teaching, brush up on my grammar and learn invaluable teaching skills. I made great friends through the course along the way. Now I am able to live in Prague, work and make friends in the Czech Republic. The Language House offered a comfortable environment to work on our projects, nice housing for the duration of the course and great tips on finding a job. Prague is so centrally located that it makes traveling around Europe very convenient. If you are considering moving abroad to teach, I would definitely suggest The Language House.

September 2015 TEFL Course
October 06, 2015by: Susie K - PragueTLH is truly a one-of-a-kind place to get your TEFL certification. The staff are all creative and unique in their own ways. One way or another, you will be pulled into the fantasy that is TLH TEFL. They provide loads of hands-on teaching experience, and every staff member is there to help with whatever you may need - housing, jobs, finding your way around Prague, etc. TLH is located in a great place in Prague 1 with so many resources nearby. The course truly prepares you for teaching English after graduation - you will leave feeling confident in your abilities. It's a wonderful way to travel, meet people, and add a TEFL certification to your resume. If you're thinking about moving to Prague to teach - you need to come here!
The 2 best decisions I ever made
October 05, 2015by: Cosette - PragueMoving to Prague and getting TEFL certified at The Language House are two of the best decisions I ever made. Moving to a new country can be overwhelming. However, I received housing and job assistance through TLH. From the day I arrived, I had a nice centrally located apartment to stay in for the month. The academics were fun and challenging... I learned how to teach English in a month - something I would never think could be possible! However, the staff does everything they can to help make the process enjoyable. If you want to move abroad, do yourself a favor and get TEFL certified at TLH!
The Language House is the place to be!
October 05, 2015by: Savannah - PragueThe Language House teaches you how to teach English and they are good at it! You graduate this challenging course knowing a lot more than you came in knowing! You also leave with a lot more friends and support group in Prague. The also help with housing, jobs, visa, and general life abroad! I suggest this course to anyone who is a traveler at heart!
A Great Foundation for TEFL and Life in Prague
July 17, 2015by: Deepan Ghimiray - PragueI had my doubts when looking into programs for teaching English abroad. I was fearful of scams and poorly run programs that were just looking to make fast cash. Luckily, The Language House was neither of these things. It is a solid course that prepares you to become a successful TEFL teacher. The course is comprehensive and intensive. You will cover grammar, teaching styles, how to organize your time, and all of the other essentials that are necessary to be a great teacher. There are a variety of teachers who will conduct the course and you'll receive valuable lesson material which you can use for your own lessons. The Language House TEFL is also exceptional because of its personal approach. You will actually meet and interact with founder/director Chris Westergaard. He will arrange activities and outings for you to get to know your fellow teachers and the beautiful city of Prague. You will make lasting friendships and networking connections. You will make friends to drink (great) beer with and people that will lead you to job opportunities. Chris and company understand the anxiety and sheer confusion that may come with moving to a foreign country and trying to find work. I believe since they've been through it as well, they have set up a program that really caters to the needs of their students. They answer questions, quell fears, and make you feel good about your decision. The Language House sets you up for a life in Prague (or elsewhere) teaching English. I have been here for over two years now and I love this city. I believe the Language House set a great foundation for me to enjoy the life that I am currently living.
For the time of your life, Pick this course!
April 22, 2015by: Christina KK - PragueI took this course in March of 2015 and I couldn't be happier! I can't imagine a course that could have better prepared me for teaching English. I know I gave them all 10's, but I swear I am a real person. Not only do you learn the theory, but you also get hands on teaching experience in front of actual English learners from beginner to advanced levels. All over Prague, The Language House is recognized and revered by English Schools. It is a serious, intensive course that not everyone will pass. However, I found it to be completely manageable and if you are serious about wanting to learn how to teach English, then you shouldn't have any problem. It is completely manageable. My original plan was to take this course in Prague and fly to a different country to find work. I had heard that jobs were hard to come by April-July. By the end of week 1, my decision to stay in Prague was finalized. I knew that the people I had met and the support I was getting here could not be matched if I left. The wonderful staff at The Language House posts new jobs everyday and the amount of alumni support is incredible, here and abroad. Ask anything in our forums and you'll have a reply within minutes. Now for the fun part: During orientation, you'll get to know your month's group. The events of the weekend will change depending on the time of year. Mine was filled with a walking tour, a beer museum, a music festival, and a scavenger hunt(which I thought would be completely stupid, but ended up being the BEST). The first weekend of the course, the previous month takes you out for drinks-again, alumni support-right off the bat you meet people who had just been in your shoes. There was a scenic bike trip to a castle the 2nd weekend and by the end of the month, you've made life-long friends. And if you didn't give him too much trouble, the director will even throw you a graduation party.
The youngest year of my life!
March 25, 2015by: Talva T. Burnette - Chiang MaiI went to Language House in Sept 2013 and I had the time of my life. The course offers a lot of benefits and skills that are needed to thrive as a teacher in any country. Learning grammar and getting the needed teaching experience as well as the how-to in teaching English to non-English speakers made me feel confident that I could go into the workforce as a proficient teacher. The support from the staff and the past students along with the facilities and update equipment available to me was outstanding and made the learning process more effective. However, for me it was the people. During the course I met some of the most amazing people from all around the world and the TLH creates of a family unit of its students, we studied together, partied and drank together. We helped each other out and it makes the transition easier and much more fun. The school location is right in the center of town an is ideal for getting to know the city and enjoying all it has to offer. Prague is right in the middle of Europe so you can travel almost anywhere in a short time for a cheap price and once you make friends in the course many people will travel with you because everyone want to see other places as well. Oh and Prague, my dearly beloved Prague is just so beautiful and offers so much to do you could never leave it. I did leave it however, after teaching for a year and half I was able to take my TEFL certificate and use it to get a job in Thailand which is where I am now. I feel like I got more than I paid for, The Language house gave me a skill and the ability to teach all over the world and friends for life, I am forever Thankful to TLH for that. I would recommend TLH and the experience to anyone who is brave enough to leave the comforts of their normal life and see the world.
TEFL at TLH
December 18, 2014by: Abbey Weil - PragueI just finished my TEFL course at The Language House last week and had an incredible experience. While the course is intensive and time consuming, it's extremely professional as well as fun. Not only does the course focus on what to teach as an English teacher (and how to structure lessons), it is also heavily focused on how to teach and interact with your students. TLH truly turns you into a confident, competent teacher in 4 weeks by providing 14 hours of teaching experience to Czech students. TLH also provides a community which is extremely helpful. Immediately you have a group of new friends in your class, and quickly meet past graduates who can offer advice. I feel comfortable knowing I already have a network of people here in Prague. I just graduated last week and already have a job. The staff is extremely helpful with finding an apartment, job assistance, and every other aspect of living abroad. Overall, The Language House is an amazing program with a great staff/past graduates. If you're considering teaching abroad or moving to Prague, enroll at The Language House immediately! I'm so glad that I did.
Great experience for anyone looking to gain TEFL certification
December 15, 2014by: Kelsey Irish - PragueI am very happy with my experience with the Language House. After only one month in the program I was able to gain confidence as a teacher,I learned how to teach individuals of all ages and ranges of experience and I was provided opportunities to network with ESL students for potential jobs. The Language House also has an extensive alumni network so there are always new expats to meet who have gone through the same experience as you and are willing to assist in any way they can. I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else for this experience, I highly recommend The Language House!
The Language House is the place to go for TEFL in Prague!
December 15, 2014by: tomhardin - PragueIf you are looking for a great experience abroad, The Language House is the place to go! The course not only provides you with the skills necessary to be a successful English teacher, but it also gives you a community of people to bond with and relate to. I can't say enough about how helpful and informative the staff members are - they all know what they are doing, and are willing to help you every step of the way. Oh, and I forgot to mention, it's in one of the coolest cities in the world: Prague! If you are even slightly considering moving abroad, come to The Language House - you will not be disappointed!
TEFL in Prague!
November 26, 2014by: Aaron V. - PragueAfter taking the TEFL course at TLH, you'll be able to feel comfortable teaching lessons and knowing how to plan and execute them almost with muscle memory given the intensiveness of the course. The course is really busy for the month you're there, but first you're not alone in gaining certification, and there is a huge community of TLH graduates living in Prague to help you with searching for places to live (if deciding to stay long term - which is definitely worth it), to find work, and of course to have fun in the city or in "the nature" as the Czechs say. By the end of the course you'll know more about English grammar than you probably thought possible and if you've ever been nervous about being in front of a classroom, you'll definitely have enough experience to get rid of your nervousness. Definitely worth the experience!
TEFL-ing in Prague?
November 10, 2014by: Nick V - PragueI just completed a whirlwind TEFL course during the month of October 2014. It was more challenging than I could have ever imagined, but also much more rewarding. There were tears, blood and weight loss, but also aced grammar tests and legions of satisfied Czech students. I don;t know if I will be able to make a living here teaching English or how long I will be here, but this experience has been truly eye-opening and transcendental.
October TEFL course
November 10, 2014by: Gretchen Peterson - pragueThe team at The Language House made moving to a foreign country extremely comfortable and easy. They not only instructed you on teaching English but helped teach you about the city. Everyone here comes from different backgrounds, are here for different reasons and they all have different experiences with their move to Prague. Knowing you can contact any one of them with an issue or questions is a huge help. The continuous support you know you're leaving with gives you a great sense of security. The community of TLH grads is one big family. It was really easy to connect with your fellow classmates and past grads as well. The course is really demanding, but you gain a wealth of teaching, methodology, grammar and much more in a short amount of time. The instructors have a real passion for what they do and bring it to their teaching. Chris W has an impressive background with teaching English and living abroad before he started the language house, and he brings his experience to the course. He's continuously trying to improve the course and the experience for his students.

After studying abroad in Italy way back in 2008, I knew I wanted to live abroad. However, I was stuck in the "American dream" mindset. I finished college, got a job working for the State of Texas, and continued life like a "normal" person. After visiting Europe for my second time in October 2014, I knew that I needed to make the jump; if didn't I would regret it for the rest of my life. When I got back home, I began looking for ways to move abroad and teaching seemed like the best option to make it happen. I researched some different programs and decided on The Language House in Prague, Czech Republic.
