Before going to Hong Kong, i thought all I was going to experience is the internship itself and nothing else. Until I realized the intern group provided other memorable experiences for us. I met a LOT of new people and got to know more about them and how we all ended up in Hong Kong. What an experience

Incredible Hong Kong internship

I had an amazing time working for an NGO in Hong Kong during my Gap Year. TIG helped me find a host who suited my needs and interests perfectly. The social events that TIG ran during my time here were always well planned and fun and provided me with an avenue to experience activities and events in the city I wouldn't have found otherwise. There's a strong sense of community with the other interns and I would recommend the Hong Kong programme specifically for anyone wanting to look for a really special city to stay in. Genuinely one of my favourite things I've done.

I recently completed an internship in Hong Kong for 7 weeks under the Intern Group. Their support was key for settling into the culture there and provided me with someone to talk to when the going got tough. Thanks to their support, I could thrive in a foreign country by meeting new people and working in a great company. I was able to experience so many new things thanks to them and these experiences will be invaluable to me in my life going forward. I could not recommend this internship more. It allowed me to grow in ways I never thought I could.

Interning in Hong Kong has been an incredible experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. It not only allowed me to travel, explore, and work in Asia for the first time, but it also gave me the chance to represent my accomplishments and the legacy of my historically Black college. Additionally, I was able to delve into the vibrant city and engage with the significance of humanitarian aid, which was made possible by the supportive intern group that I’m deeply grateful for.

Great Internship Experience and Job Offered by company in Hong Kong

My experience in Hong Kong was great. The support from TIG was splendid. My time was filled with many learning experiences and gave me more confidence in a professional environment. This internship also gave me a connection. Fast forward 3 years later after my masters degree, I got in touch with the connection I had Hong Kong and I was offered a remote full-time job at the company I interned for. I am grateful to TIG and the Hong Kong experience coordinators. I personally recommend The TIG service.

Hong Kong internship

I was originally meant to do my internship in 2020, but COVID made it not possible. The Intern Group, however, kept my internship available for two more years until I was in a position to do it again. They gave me very detailed and helpful information on getting to my internship from my accommodation which was quite a distance to travel and my biggest concern at the start. The internship itself was a real eye opener, seeing first-hand how a charity deals with all the donations and goods it receives and sends to places in need and there was a variety of nationalities working there which made it feel extra global and exciting. Hong Kong itself is a wonderful city; very friendly, clean and easy to navigate and the events organised by the Intern Group felt very relevant to the city and really got oneself immersed in the culture. Special shout out to Agnes who was always available to answer any questions, was very helpful with getting my phone set up for Hong Kong, showed me some great places around the city and treated me to the best burger I have ever had! The only negative would be the distance to travel to and from work every day. The Intern Group, however, did set me up with a travel card with enough money on it to cover the cost for the entire duration.

Overall I loved my time with the intern group. They were very helpful in communication and helping me get to my designated country before arrive despite covid and only continued to be amazing assistance whilst there. They placed me with a great host. As I was apart of the digital nomad program I had more freedom to explore my country which they always supported. The plans activities were always fun and I feel I have made international friends for life. My stay with there provided accommodation with perfect/safe. I didn’t have any problem in the process. There was always someone to contact if I needed assistance or advice. The work modules were also useful providing content on career advancement which I can now apply to future roles. I would definitely recommend this program to a friend as I had the time of my life.

Have a great time due to a great organization

My time at The Intern Group in Hong Kong was with two words: pretty amazing! I applied because I had to find an internship internationally in fall 2021 as part of my university degree. Having done some market research, I concluded that TIG was the most experienced in this field. Summing up what they most helped me with, I would say: - Visa and Covid precautions - Contact person and coordinator at the desired location (Sau Yi, what a guy!!!) - Assistance with finding the right internship, using their network, improving your CV format etc. - Housing & quick networking/finding friends in Hong Kong - Weekly events amongst all the other interns (dinners, hikes, trips) So is it possible to have the same experience without TIG? Yes, absolutely Is it likely you will enjoy your limited time there just as much? Most likely not because living in new environments and gathering internship opportunities has a lot to do with who you know and how much you know and at least in this department I can say that The Intern Group Hong Kong program that has a fantastic program manager in Sau and that it is very smooth to dive into your new life in Hong Kong thanks to TIG.

My Intern Group review

The Intern Group has been a very nice experience for me. They have helped me to find an amazing 6-month intern job at the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. After signing my contract, they helped me to apply my visa online. When I arrived, Sau (program advisory and visa officer of the Intern Group) was organising some online events when I was in quarantine. On the same week that I left the quarantine hotel. He organised a dinner at the restaurant with other people from the Intern Group. It feels very nice to meet new people when you just arrived in a new city. After that, during all my internship period. Sau was organising some visits and hikes around Hong Kong, which were very well organised and great! I’ve got the chance to meet a lot of interesting people from many different countries. At the end of my internship, I succeed to find a trainee job at the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. Sau helped me to apply for my new job visa! He was very kind with me and always tried to catch up with me. It is a pleasure to meet him, and I wish keeping hangout with him in the future if I stay even longer in Hong Kong. Best wishes to you Sau and thank you to the Intern Group for this experience! I had an amazing time interning in Hong Kong

I had the opportunity to intern in Hong Kong in a prime french company in their sourcing department. This opportunity was enabled by The Intern Group Hong Kong. I am very thankful for this opportunity that enabled me to increase my experience, expand my network and familiarize myself with the rich Cantonese culture. I blindly recommend enrolling in their program and also recommend taking an internship in Hong Kong that happens a great city to explore, hang out and have unique experiences. I would recommend Lan Kwai Fong over the weekend for outings and for networking with local and international professionals living in Hong Kong.

I was Sceptical at first about the program. I wasn’t sure whether they were going to be able to find me a good job, or if I was going to like the job they found me. Luckily, everything was better than I expected and the team was able to provide me with an excellent working environment and experience overall.

I had a really amazing experience in all aspects. My internship has definitely taught me so many skills I didn’t expect to learn, and has helped progress my career. I was able to work in close proximity to senior leadership in a position that is not easy to secure without years and years of previous experience. The program included several tours that’s were very well planned out. Employees go above and beyond to be helpful. My place was small but perfect, and my roomates and friends I have made were incredible. Definitely not an experience I can ever forget. I am so grateful for my time in Hong Kong and I recommend to everyone!

I would definitely apply again and stay for a longer period of time.

The Hong Kong internship program is amazing. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, make new international connections and to visit a new part of the world. The Intern Group provide great social and cultural activities. This allowed me to meet new interns and make friends for life and to visit Hong Kong at the same time. The internship process placement is also really great. The Intern Group keeps you in touch with every step of your placement. You always know what is happening. Overall, this is a great internship program. I will do another abroad internship with this company for sure!

I always wanted to intern at this dream design studio in Hong Kong, so I reached out to The Intern Group to help me get that dream internship. The interview process was really pleasant and everyone in the process was super helpful, making sure that I get into the company of my choice and that I had no concern with the timeline, requirements and visa processing. Once arriving in Hong Kong, they pick up the interns at the airport. The living space is an hotel apartment, very modern and clean! Not to mention that my roommates are really great! We quickly became friends and are still in touch today. There are so many social events, outings and training sessions. It was a great experience with a The Intern Group, I would definitely do it again if I could!

I had a brilliant time Interning for a financial services consultancy company in Hong Kong. Not only was it easy to navigate around the city, but my colleagues and the friends I’ve made during this time was worthwhile and amazing. Interning abroad even for 8 weeks seemed to be a daunting experience, however you meet people from all over the world and with most you can make truly valuable friendships. The most fun and enjoyable part was hiking along different trails in HK and being able to see beautiful and stunning landscapes with other interns. My time abroad also gave me the opportunity to explore a field I was interested in and my mentor was helpful in providing what I needed to know about the business. Now I’m more passionate to pursue it as a career!

A wonderful opportunity!

Going out in the world for the first time seems daunting, but with The Intern Group's help, I was able to make that first step a rewarding and memorable experience. With their help, I was able to enjoy a lot of what Hong Kong had to offer with a way to find housing, go to events, as well as find a job, so I don't have to worry about it too much during my stay.

Truly a great time

I went to Hong Kong for a 12 week internship with APV, facilitated by the Intern Group. Honestly, I was a little skeptical at first: would I just be running coffees for people? Will my time and money be wasted? Will it be worth it? Yes. It was worth it. Completely. Now, I need to preface by saying that one of main reasons why the experience was worth it was because the company I was interning for, APV, is unimaginably good for interns. I was working with client work almost every day, either in studio or on set, and if I wasn't working on client content, I was contributing to the team with other important tasks (research, analysis, digital archiving etc). A sense of satisfaction, challenge, growth and confidence was gained by working at APV. Truly amazing. One of the other main contributing reasons to such a great time is the people that you meet. I think one of the benefits you get being on the Intern Group program is that it sets you up to connect with other people who are in similar situations to you; young interns looking to find new experiences in a different part of the world. This is how I met my friends while I was in Hong Kong, and I'm sure that's one of the ways you'll meet yours. On top of that, the accommodation that was sorted for me by the Intern Group placed me with a whole array of other interns doing the same program, meaning I lived in an apartment building with all my friends (super convenient, super fun). Speaking of the accommodation, I was surprised as to how good it is. I got placed at the Grand Blossom Serviced Apartments in Hong Hum. The location is fantastic for public transport (although in saying that, Hong Kong is super efficient with public transport regardless of where you are), a bunch of awesome little cafes and eateries are nearby, and the actual apartment I lived in was quite nice. Now, if you've never been to Hong Kong before, be prepared for your room to be tiny. My room was a literal shoebox. But, it's clean, modern, already furnished and comfortable enough. Plus you'll likely only be home to sleep anyway. The Inter Group also create weekend events for you to attend (it's optional, but it's packaged in your fee so you may as well go). I think they're worth going to because you get to meet new people and have new experiences, especially if you've never been to Hong Kong before. There's a bunch of a really cool stuff to see and do and explore in Hong Kong, and I think that it can sometimes be a little confronting to do it by yourself as a foreigner; that's where joining the Intern Group's events comes in handy. It's a seriously great time in Hong Kong. I've always loved the city, but this time was something special.

This internship experience has been so valuable for my personal and professional development. The Internship at my host organisation has given me the opportunity to be part of a team and be valued for my opinions even though I am just a student. I was able to learn and grow professionally by gaining constructive feedback from my colleagues on my Salesforce project. I was able to use my skill set and increase my Business Acumen while solving business problems. Furthermore, The Intern Group helped me settle into Shanghai as soon as I arrived I was made to feel like I was part of a family. The weekend trips and events are truly unforgettable as you get to expose yourself to new culture and traditions which I found really fascinating! I would highly recommend anyone who is wanting to explore while increasing their competitive edge in the job market to choose The Intern Group as they are absolutely amazing from every aspect of what they do!

I decided to take a gap year after finishing secondary school this year. Wanting to do something sensible with my time I looked into internships abroad and stumbled upon the Intern Group. I was immediately interested in their Shanghai program as part of my family is from there. I applied for the program and was accepted. They helped me through the entire pre-arrival process and found a very fitting internship for me. But also the support you keep receiving once you are here is amazing. Olivia and Tommy are both lovely people who I would absolutely marry. The housing is nice and the location is good. Shanghai is a vibrant city that has much to offer to its visitors while being very affordable, at least from a German perspective. All in all, I would definitely recommend coming to Shanghai, I have had a blast here!

I had the most amazing time in HK this summer. Doing an internship abroad is the perfect blend of experiencing new culture and advancing your stance on the career ladder! I learnt so much during my internship as I was able to apply what I had learnt at university into practice. I loved having a lot of responsibility and being able to accomplish so much in my time there. People are usually very impressed when you tell them you have done an internship in HK! I feel traveling to a completely new environment helps enhance independence and confidence a lot. I met great friends from all over the world and was also able to explore lots of HK. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for an adventure but wanting to consider their career prospects to apply. The intern group team were lovely and super accommodating also!

I did an internship in Hong Kong for 6 weeks and worked for a PR marketing company. Everything I experienced in Hong Kong was amazing. The people at the company were so kind, especially my supervisor. Because of her, I gained not only business skills and knowledge, but I also learned more about business manners and what is it like to work in society. All the time I spent at the office definitely helped me think about my future and career. After work or on weekends, I enjoyed sightseeing around the great city of Hong Kong. The interns I met are the best. They are passionate, highly motivated, and very hard workers. It is really so amazing making friends with people from all over the world that give you new perspectives and inspire you so much. Through this experience, I found a bunch of exciting options for my future, made more goals, and increased my global outlook. I couldn't have had such a brilliant time without The Intern Group. They supported me the whole time, care about every intern, and always helped us have the best time. I want to say thank you so much for everything and to everyone I crossed paths with. I would love to do another internship in another country with The Intern Group again.

She is an extremely passionate host as she took us around to numerous activities i.e chines kong fu which taught me lots about Chinese culture. Her presence in my experience in Shanghai is extremely valuable and brighten my trip. Intern groups placement and organzation is extremely professional and I had an excellent time on this trip. I would recommend this trip to all interns.

Brilliant, bustling and bonafide: my month's internship in Shanghai

July 20, 2018by: Christina Riska - United Kingdom
5

If there is one reason to do an internship through The Intern Group, it is for the people you meet and the activities you participate in. Yes, I had come to Shanghai for work experience via an internship placement and with the predominant intention of improving my CV, but I left with so, so much more. The friendships I made through my month-long program are genuinely life-long ones which I have every intention of maintaining. The internship placements themselves are a bit hit-and-miss. I was one of the lucky ones who genuinely enjoyed my internship in a relaxed work environment with lovely employees. Yes, my tasks were perhaps not the most intellectually stimulating in that they involved mostly copy, pasting and re-wording descriptions of different Californian wine regions, but my boss would constantly check in with me and I was never left bored and listless like some of my friends in their internships. My internship doubtlessly taught me many new skills: I have honed my research skills, improved my competence with various softwares, learnt how to handle myself in a professional environment, but, and perhaps most importantly, was taught how to truly appreciate a good glass of wine! The obvious perk of working for a wine company is its product, and no week would have been quite complete without a glass of red at 4pm on a Friday! I was invited to a wine-tasting event in the office over the first weekend, where I was able to discuss all things wine-related with international clients whilst sampling various Pinot Noirs. My supervisor was nothing if not kind and helpful, and although there was a language gap between me and the other employees, I was impressed by the intimate rapport between people who were not just co-workers, but friends. My boss was kind enough to arrange a leaving dinner for me in a karaoke bar, where I had an absolute blast watching the people I had been working with for the past month sing Chinese pop songs with full gusto! The social events organised by The Intern Group are honestly priceless. We were taken on a day-trip to Tongli Water Town and Temple which was a true immersion into a beautiful culture. A cinema trip was also organised, along with dodgeball tournaments every Monday, a Kung-Fu session, and a cooking class! Welcome and leaving dinners were held in traditional Chinese restaurants where, if we had managed to avoid national food up until then, gave us the opportunity to sample traditional dishes. From frog legs to stinky tofu, meals were definitely an experience! Olivia and Tommy as the group leaders were invaluable. Both were so affable and easy to talk to: if you needed any help they were only a quick WeChat message away and would respond within minutes. I feel that it is also important to mention that they managed to strike the perfect balance between supporting and guiding us whilst also respecting our independence and not being patronising in any way. As enjoyable as my internship was in itself, I always looked forward to returning back to the accommodation to see my fellow interns, catch up about our days, and go about our evening plans together. Whether it was clubbing - an experience made unique by the fact that we got free entry and drinks everywhere we went so that not a single penny was spent unless on a taxi - having group dinners, or even adorable movie nights in flats, I was privileged enough to meet some genuienly incredible people. This program truly offers you everything. What with the exposure to the workplace, networking opportunities, but most of all, the wonderful people you live with during your program, I can truly say that I could not feel more confidant about my future, and I would not want to imagine what life in Shanghai would have been like had it not been facilitated through The Intern Group.

One of the Best Experiences I've Ever Had!!!

Whether you are looking for job experience, put in practice your abilities and knowledge, or simply you are looking for a productive way to spend your time, this internship is right you. The Intern Group does a great job finding a company that properly fits your profile and especially, what you are looking for. I was placed at a technology company where I was able to put in practice my marketing and innovation abilities, but also I learned a great deal from many other aspects of strategic management, marketing, and a bit about coding. Everybody at the company was extremely friendly and supportive. They truly cared about me learning something in addition to contributing to the team. What I loved about this internship was that not only great job experience that I gained but also the cultural aspects of the country. The events and community coordinator placed by TIG is key to the success of the cultural experience. He was able to bring a sense of family among many interns and helped us to discover the country's best places and activities. I would do it all over again!!!

Great opportunity!

I was so grateful to have done my first internship in China. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is seriously considering working abroad long-term. My program coordinator, Tommy, was incredible and honestly made the experience so much more enjoyable. For a new program, things ran relatively smoothly. The only changes I might suggest would be better communication before the program starts (more help with the visa application process, a better breakdown of projected costs of living upfront, more accurate descriptions of internship positions, etc). Overall, I had a great experience.

Recommendation for The Intern Group

I would highly recommend The Intern Group for anyone who is looking for an internship abroad. Not only do they do a great job at finding the right internship for you, but they include cultural activities that you can't learn in a classroom. Communication was great between the supervisors and staff. Overall I think everyone should do an internship abroad (preferably with The Intern Group) because it helps you grow as a person, your knowledge of other cultures & business scenes, and even pick up on another language. I would 100% participate in another internship program with The Intern Group.

TIG Shanghai internship

During my internship in Shanghai, I had the opportunity to meet Tommy. He is one of the most understanding people I have met. That being said, it was very efficient to coordinate with him during the course of my internship. Also, he encouraged us to take part in events and socialize and have a great time. Overall, I had a great time working and living in Shanghai because of Tommy's obliging personality.

An insight into Chinese social and professional culture

Living and working in China for a month as part of this program was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my life. Granted, I did not particularly enjoy my internship on a personal level but being a part of the workplace offered a great deal of knowledge and understanding of a professional culture that is entirely different to anything I had seen before. Socially, I was able to enjoy many of the attractions that Shanghai offered and lived in the city as if was comfortably my home rather than just a tourist destination. The Intern Group handled the entire process professionally and I never found myself concerned at any time during my stay. A lot of this is due to the way in which my stay was handled by The Intern Group.

More than ever was expected

I came in with zero expectations about interning in Hong Kong. I actually chose to go to Hong Kong during my first phone call with The Intern Group just because it sounded appealing. The Intern Group placed me in a company that exceeded any thoughts about the experience I was going to have. My company was perfect for my personality and stage in my career. Am forever grateful for the experience that The Intern Group facilitated for me.

Best experience of my life, Tommy is the GOAT

My "leader" was tommy. Tommy did a fantastic job of being there for me whenever and for whatever I needed. He would answer any questions I had quickly and would give me many many ideas of things to do and places to see. He was someone I could ask anything and he would know the answer. He was very professional and made sure I were learning, but was also a great friend and someone I enjoyed hanging out with and spending time with. Overall tommy exceeded expectations drastically and would recommend him and the program to any and everyone in the future!

Internship HK 2016/17

The Internship offers an amazing experience for anyone looking to experience a different culture while still having access to an international business epicentre. The intern group offered many cultural activities and Dicky (our self proclaimed guide/facilitator of fun) made the entire experience extremely enjoyable and easy. With interns from all over the globe I made some great and interesting friends. What makes HK an even better destination is the fact you are so central, you can easily take a weekend to visit the neighbouring countries (China, Cambodia, Myanmar etc..) Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, and would recommend to anyone that isn't entirely sure how to spend their holiday. Its better than just working part-time.. Get some solid international work experience and see some of the world!

Adventure of a lifetime

Simply put, my decision to complete an internship in Hong Kong with the Intern Group after graduating from university was the best decision I ever made. From the organised and efficient application process to my amazing and ever-entertaining programme coordinators - it was a truly unforgettable experience. I was placed at a travel and technology start-up company that from the get go set me interesting tasks and exciting responsibilities. Not only did I learn valuable and transferable skills but was able to make professional connections to help my long term career. As someone who had never been to Hong Kong, I was tentative to make the move to a place I had no idea what to expect. However, after experiencing the vibrant culture, food, exploring the mountain trails, idyllic beaches and sampling the incredible nightlife, Hong Kong has easily become one of my favourite cities. Of course, what made my time even more special were the people I met, from those I worked with, to my fellow interns with whom I’ve made hilarious memories and lasting friendships. So, for anyone looking for the adventure of a lifetime and the opportunity to gain work experience whilst travelling, then I not only recommend the Intern Group but actively encourage you to apply!

Totally worth it

A combination of three things made my experience in Hong Kong an amazing one: the city, the job, and the people. Hong Kong is everything you'd expect it to be plus more. The city is indeed electrifying, a bit chaotic (which I loved) and every corner has something new and unique to offer. Walking around with no particular place to go to at any hour of the day was one of my favorite things to do (it is super safe). But, surprisingly enough, Hong Kong is surrounded by gorgeaous sights, hikes, beaches and islands as well. What I found in Hong Kong was a city of contrasts (nature-city, east-west, Louis Vuitton-street markets, etc) and that makes it a lot of fun. I was a placed in a technology start-up where I was given real responsability (at the same time I was expected to create value) from day 1. This was my first working experience and I couldn't have hoped for anything better, I learned tons by actually seeing how things work first-hand in the real world. And the people: I met fantastic people (fellow interns, coworkers, and IHK staff) from literally all over the world and they made my experience in Hong Kong amazing. The IHK staff is the best, each of them is so welcoming, nice and fun! 10/10

Such an extraordinary experience.

Hi, my name is Renato and i love Hong Kong. I was a bit skeptical about the whole experience but decided to go thru the admission process and got in. I've always been nature oriented and thinking about working and living in Hong Kong sounded between a nightmare and a dream. It's called the NY of Asia and now i know why. Not only the city but the quality and diversity of people living there is at the top level. I got my internship at a high-tech software company, my major is business, and got involved in a start-up about to born in the inside. The environment was so international and professional i quickly had to step up my game, meaning thinking, acting, looking and producing results like a world-class professional and, at the same time, everybody cared about my well being and that i was learning in the process. My supervisor and the CEO were both top executives and awesome people. At the end of my internship the star-up became a company and we got our first customer, a really good one. Not all is work, i got to know some of the best people i've ever met. From Europe to LatAm they were all amazing and caring. Cheers to my bro Santi. The staff is just incredible thinking ahead all your needs and organizing events with the rest of the interns. Don't think it twice, do it at once.

Hong Kong Internship

The internship placement was like nothing I expected. I must admit, I was a little suspicious at first, as I had never been abroad on programmes such as this one. My suspicion was quickly removed after I had my first Skype interview with the programme coordinators and then another one with the company I was interning at. I am not sure I can condense my entire experience into one small review. I will therefore quickly summarise: I had the best time both in terms of work experience, cultural immersion, and getting to know new people that I will likely stay connected to for life. I learned many valuable lessons and gained an insight into the culture of Hong Kong. The programme is incredibly efficient and everything went very smoothly. I must say it was excellent, and nothing went wrong - that being said, the apartments were a little small for Western standards, but I cannot complain. It was clean and in a good location, only a 20 minute commute from my internship. It may be an issue to some people but for me it was no problem at all, in fact I was incredibly happy with the small size and location. This programme is incredible and I can only recommend it. I learned a great deal about the industry I want to work in and gained many friendships, as well as an increased cultural understanding.

An Extremely worthwhile experience

Going to another country to live and work in is not easy but the staff at Intern Group Hong Kong were extremely helpful in helping you settle down. I was put into work in which I was given what I wanted in terms of my career path and I found my internship a worthwhile and very enjoyable experience where I have gained connections and experience which will help me in my future career. Furthermore, I met some amazing people during this internship which only made my 2 months living and working in Hong Kong even more enjoyable.

After finishing university I wanted the opportunity to go travelling and work. I stumbled across The Intern Group and just applied to see 'what if' and 2 months later I was working and living in Hong Kong. The whole experience has truly been amazing and I have met the best people! The company I worked for gave me so many opportunities that contributed greatly to the whole experience. I didn't want to come home by the end! The process of it all was smooth and I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to travel but wants to gain valuable work experience. Hong Kong is amazing.

I couldn't recommend doing an internship through the intern group more. I spent 6 weeks in Hong Kong doing an internship with Maya Events. I was placed in an amazing company and met great people, all of whom the intern group connected me to. They do a great job at making sure there is always something fun going on and at making sure you meet a lot of people through the program. My only regret is that I didn't do the internship longer!

Marketing Internship

The eight weeks that I have spent in Hong Kong was amazing; it is an experience that I would never be able to forget. I was able to learn and grow so much within such a short span of time, and this mind opening journey would not have been so beautiful if not for the team at Intern Hong Kong and the interns from the program. The team at IHK are not only attentive and responsive, they are incredibly caring and friendly. Ryan, Yiyan, Jeniffer, and Gemma were by my side every step of the way, from visa application, to internship placement, to accommodations and excursions. IHK had tried their best to tailor the internship placement to my background. I major in Marketing and as a marketing intern for an online high-end wholesale fashion company, I was in charged of their retail network along with their social media content. I was able to learn greatly from this internship, in regards to the fashion industry as a whole, and micromanagement of an online retail company in specific. Accommodations in HK are generally quite small, however, the placements are very modern and clean. Aside from the professional internship and the accommodation, the social aspect of HK was the most educational and memorable component of my time in HK. Thanks to the two amazing event program coordinators of IHK, not only was I able to explore all the breathtaking and hidden places of the concrete jungle that is HK, I was fortunate enough to meet and befriend a group of high energy, educated, and incredibly sweet individuals that are the interns. I love every single moment I've spent in HK and I highly recommend this program.

I couldn’t recommend it more!

The whole internship program is run superbly- I couldn’t recommend it more! The interngroup helped me organise my trip well and gave me a massive amount of details about Hong Kong before I even arrived. When I arrived in Hong Kong I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and fellow interns, I felt immediately at ease, safe, looked after and welcome. Ryan, Yiyan and Steph do an excellent job! I really enjoyed the amazing internship they helped me secure and I was given a detailed reference from my boss once I left which I believe will greatly help with future job applications. The social aspects of the group were arranged excellently, there was never a moments silence! There is a Whatsapp group where you can arrange meals, drinks and nights out after work and everyone is of a similar age and of the same mentality that we had a very fun social life. The only sad part was leaving, so I extended my time in Hong Kong for another month! I have had the most incredible, once in a life time experience and made some lifelong friends around the world.

I found the experience as a whole great; on both a personal and professional basis I feel I have grown in ways I couldn't even articulate. In terms of living space I have had no problem. The apartment is small, however, it is clean, bright and all the appliances work well. Socially, HK has been fantastic. All the interns are extremely friendly and it was easy to socialise from the beginning as everyone is on the same boat (in terms of experiencing something new and being slightly nervous about it). The IHK staff have been very accommodating and friendly. They made is very easy to settle in to HK! The internship was great. The people I worked under were very intelligent and taught me a lot. However, in terms of constructive criticism, I would have preferred to be pushed harder at work. I do appreciate the flexibility and laid back nature of the job, I just feel as though I would have learnt a lot more if the nature of the work included deadlines, proper instructions, detailed feedback etc. Additionally, some form of remuneration (even if it be paid lunch) would obviously be a preferable arrangement. If IHK could guarantee paid internships, I think I would be able to get 100 students from my university to sign up overnight; it is the only downfall! With this said, a paid internship would provide incentive for the employers of the firm to push the interns and make sure they get their moneys worth. Holistically, HK has been great. As i stated earlier, the personal fulfilment and growth I have experienced is invaluable.

Holiday Internship Hong Kong

My internship at Hong Kong was extremely memorable. The community managers and fellow intern group participants were extremely helpful and friendly. They made the experience of living and working in a foreign city significantly less daunting. The activities organised by the group outside of work were also extremely well organised and interesting showing just how wonderful of a city Hong Kong is and it is an extremely vibrant and lively city. Even if you work late into the evening there is still something to do in town. The actual internship was overall very enjoyable, the firm was extremely welcoming and taught me many things and I felt comfortable in the environment. The overall culture also made the entire experience extremely fun and enjoyable with the environment being relaxed while still having interesting work to do and learn from.

I've had the best time in HK! This 16 weeks internship have made me a better person and I've gained so much knowledge and grown so much professionally, culturally and personally. I don't regret choosing IHK as my placement agency since they did such a great job helping me with visa application, school requirements and internship placement. They basically found a company for me to have my internship and it was a great F&B consultancy and management group, wherein I was taught basic management, marketing, accounting, retail and service. Also, it's great having the internship with them because everyone was so nice and welcoming. All the other interns with me were very well educated, open minded, friendly and fun. They built an intern community where everyone is like family. We also went out a lot and just enjoyed the internship experience outside of work. I've never felt more free and responsible. Basically, the best weeks of my life!

Intern Group Hong Kong

The Intern Group was so amazing and helped with everything making the move easy and convenient. I had an amazing apartment in Sheung Wan (near central) so I was very close to all the nightlife and work was just a short trip on the MTR. I study accounting but I did my internship in luxury fashion wholesaling. I soon found out that this was a great combination due to the increased demand of luxury goods by people from mainland China. I recommend anyone seeking to get work in the fashion industry choose Hong Kong for this reason. I love Hong Kong so much! It's like the New York of Asia, they have the best people and the best parties. I'm going to be really sad to leave! Will miss all the friends I made on my journey. Plan on looking for work in Hong Kong or Shanghai in the future because I just don't want to go home!

Tourism with a twist

Being an intern abroad is one of the best things I can recommend to anyone! Experience the new environment like a tourist whilst boosting your education in an foreign workplace; learning new skill sets and making new connections and networks for the future. Not only this, but being able to 'slide right in' and get along with locals and embrace the local culture is one of the most captivating experiences of your intern journey. An internship abroad is not working 5 days a week with no fun. It's an experience that broadens your outlook on life, provides you with new skills and traits whilst also being able to experience the local sights and culture along the way. Tourism with a Twist. Market research intern

I did a 10 week internship in Hong Kong through the InternGroup and had a really amazing time. I am really glad I came in October, as we were all at similar stages with out education and the age of the group was early 20s, rather than undergraduates. Even though people came and left throughout my 10 week period the group of people were always really fun. The social aspect of the InternGroup was the best part of my experience, as I was not completely happy with my internship. The company was just at the start up stage and the amount and quality of work they offered me was not what I was hoping for. However, the overall experience of living and working in Hong Kong was great!

Hong Kong is an absolutely amazing city to do an internship at. This city actually never sleeps on any day of the week so the first couple of weeks before settling into the Hong Kong life I didn't sleep either as there is so much to do. All the interns are very friendly and the staff (Steph!!!!!) are really nice. Steph is great and everyone loves her (even her "interesting" dancing). The actual internship was a great way to learn a lot of things in a very short time. Also its a great way to explore different jobs to see what you enjoy doing or not as you get to do all sorts of jobs that no one else in the company wants to do (I know I never want to do market research ever again). It was also nice working for a small company as you can actually see it progressing a lot over the short internship. PS. Steph and Yiyan are great

From my experience, I can affirm that the Intern Group Hong Kong is a very professional company!! During the whole internship process, the company demonstrates a real care of my needs, both from the professional and the human point of view. A the beginning, they provides me exactely the internship I was looking for, putting me in contact with high profile companies. Once you find the internship, the Intern HK take care of everything, visa and accommodation, making you very easy to settle in Hong Kong. Even if I was a little bit afraid by the huge distance from home, thanks to the its amazing staff, I met a lot of friends from all over the world and I shared with them amazing trips, parties and unforgettable moments! Here I found the perfect balance for a really amazing experience: a formative job, which allowed me to put in practice everything I have learnt during my university years and an amazing group of people to share with a full immersion in such an amazing country.

The Intern Group was a happy last minute blessing. Having not found anything that suits my fancy back home I pursued the opportunity and was rewarded with one of the best times in my life. The group and the program, I believe, is serious in what they intend to provide their interns. The process was easy to follow through and the coordinators are easy to reach out to. The people, the country, the immersion, the work was all so wonderful. Having this experience was worth all the expenditures, home-sickness and immense walking. To be here and to have done this was an awfully amazing adventure and I loved every bit of it.

Mind changing experience of living and working in Asia

From the very beginning the Intern Hong Kong team was very professional and helpful. I have traveled a lot, studied my Masters degree abroad and attended numerous language courses across Europe, but my 6 weeks stay in Hong Kong was definitely one of the most comfortable trips i've ever made. The Intern HK took care of everything: visa, accommodation, networking events, so basically I was able to concentrate on work and exploring the city. Moreover, from my experience, I could say it actually makes a big difference when you have somebody local willing to help you 24 hours while living in a new country and facing a new culture. It was my first time in Asia, so of course, I was worried before coming to Hong Kong. When you don't know enough about the mentality&lifestyle getting around could be hard. However, thanks to Intern HK I met so many friends from across the globe and got to visit so many places, so actually Hong Kong felt like a second home for me right from the start. The thing I liked the most about the Intern Group is people. From my first interview with Kirstie Weston and to the moment I met the Intern Hong Kong team, Steph, Yiyan, Ryan, Kelvin everybody was so professional, attentive, caring and willing to help. The company I was interning for was really good, my boss and supervisor were amazing people. So it is actually a good thing Intern HK gets in touch with the company first, so when you start your internship you know its not going to be an odd random company with arrogant employees. By and large, I enjoyed every moment of my stay and learned a lot about Asian culture, people and business.
