Pokhara Community Project – Nepal
Program Overview
Nestled below the Annapurna range, Pokhara is both a breathtaking destination and a community under pressure from the demands of trekking tourism. The Pokhara Community Project responds by addressing the root causes of community strain — supporting education, gender equality, health, and environmental sustainability in a way that treats community resilience and habitat conservation as a single, interconnected challenge. Volunteers join a locally run NGO making a tangible difference in one of Nepal's most iconic landscapes.
This program welcomes volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds — no prior experience is required. Participants work Monday to Friday across community and school sites, supporting children's learning, adult English lessons, women's empowerment sessions, health and nutrition education, light school refurbishment, and environmental clean-ups. A full orientation and ongoing guidance from the local team ensure volunteers are well-prepared from day one.
Volunteers are housed in shared single-gender rooms in a comfortable hotel with en-suite bathrooms and meals provided. Airport pick-up, in-country support, and orientation are all included.
