Program Overview

Complete a master’s degree in painting in an ideal setting—Southern France! The American College of the Mediterranean offers a two-year Master of Fine Arts, with a concentration in Painting.

This 60-credit program combines studio practice with a field study, museum study, critical analysis, and liberal arts investigation. Courses are taught in English and culminate in a Thesis Project/MFA Show, which includes a public presentation of an original body of artwork.

Students work on-campus in Aix-en-Provence, maintaining a daily open studio practice in their chosen discipline. At the same time, they develop independent critical, aesthetic, and art historical research with core faculty advisors. They are expected to participate in weekly seminars, multi-city field studies, critiques, museum studies, and liberal arts inquiry.
